Recovery Day ASAP

S0 today is a NEW day and I am ready to clean up my diet!

recovery day for me always includes a good, hard workout, TONS of water (like double the amount I would normally drink, which is already a lot), no alcohol, and only eating all natural food that is minimally processed. I’m ready for one! I never limit my calories on recovery days, instead I just focus on eating natural, wholesome foods that fuel my body and leave me feeling energized, light and happy.

I never feel that awesome in the morning after a big night of heavy food and the same goes for right now. To start of the day I made a bowl of oatmeal with 1 tbsp natural peanut butter, 1 diced apple and 1/2 water, 1/2 skim. I topped it with a little syrup. Felt good to eat something nourishing to my body again! 🙂 This breakfast was about 367 calories.

I always love the day after Christmas because of the shopping! I am not a big shopper in general (I really don’t like malls at all and will go to great length to avoid them at all costs), but on a day like today when I have gift certificates and cash to burn…I’m going at it! I also need to go get some espresso to test out some cappuccinos in my new cappuccino/espresso maker!

I’m also going to get a good workout in later in the day. Probably elliptical because I actually think I now have to go in an have x-rays done of my ankle because I think I might have something really wrong with it….it has been bothering me for months and I’ve sort of put it off and kept stressing it by running. Not a good idea. At least the elliptical machine doesn’t bother it but I never feel like I get that good of a workout on it. The best is yoga and running for me :).

Lunch will probably be that leftover turkey I so beautifully carved last night at my parent’s house. I was so proud of myself! I’m even saving the bones and carcass to make turkey stock at some point. I just love dealing with leftovers like that. There’s so much you can do with leftover turkey….tetrazinni, turkey pie, sandwiches, with noodles, in a fritatta…the list goes on and on! Wonderful! Now dinner is another story because for WEEKS Ryan and I have been planning a pizza/movie date tonight to our favorite (well my favorite!) pizza place here in town. They specialize in all natural ingredients and whole wheat crust. Ryan would just as easily go for pizza hut. Not when I’m here though! I know pizza isn’t the most healthy thing to be eating when you are trying to have a recovery day but I do think that pizza isn’t the worst choice nutrition-wise. If you stay within your limits and eat moderately. I usually eat 2 slices and share a salad with Ryan. I never drink wine when we go out to pizza; just water. It is caloric but one of those things I would happily spend a good chunk of calories on because, well, pizza is amazing.

I wish all of you safe travels if you are traveling on this crazy day.

It is so funny your blog from the past couple of days could have been written by me. I am vry much the same I love my deserts and I will try to tell myself I wont have any but sometimes it is too tempting. I feel good when I allow myself what I want in moderation it shows growth for me because I can so easily GO TO TOWN on desserts and beat myself up later, but today is a new day and I got my work out in and am trying to do the same thing eat natural foods to feel the best.

I love your blog, by the way…it’s a natural food day for me too (sans the work-out, but I hope to get a run in this evening).
