I picked up some bright red lipstick (this is MAC “ruby woo” with “brick” liner) for the Mad Men premier party we went to a few weeks ago (hence the pearls and chiffon) and since then, have been rocking the look a few times. I’ve never really been a lipstick person before because I taste food all day, but there’s just something so fun about red lipstick that I can’t help myself.
I also played around with the “red glossy look” last night…in the safety of my own home where no one could judge me but my cat….
Who didn’t have too much to say except, “you better not try to get near my mice with those lips!”
I don’t blame him.

April 14, 2012 at 4:25 amSo I’ve been reading for a while and have never commented. And now I’m going to ask a strange question! My cat has the exact same mouse as yours (the one on top) and he is obsessed with it. Literally. But it is slowly withering into nothingness from over-use and I cannot remember where I bought it. I feel like I have checked everywhere! Do you have any idea? Yay for sounding like a crazy cat lady on the internet!
(The lipstick looks great by the way!)

April 17, 2012 at 9:56 amI believe I got them in a pack of three at Target. 🙂 My cat loves them too – and he looks just like Dexter!

April 14, 2012 at 4:27 amI’m a red-lipstick-black-cat girl too! Great look!

April 14, 2012 at 4:32 amI never wear lipstick, ever! You look great in it, keep rockin it!

April 14, 2012 at 5:10 amYour kitty looks exactly like my cat Bobby! I’ve tried working the hot pink lip a few times, but I really prefer lip gloss haha 🙂

April 14, 2012 at 6:36 amAlthough I don’t like wearing lipstick and don’t own one myself, I’m jealous that you’re rocking the look. Did you have this lipstick on when you went out to dinner on your camping trip? You looked gorgeous!

April 14, 2012 at 6:53 amSo funny! My Mad Men obsession kind of got me to starting wearing red lipstick too and now its a daily staple

April 14, 2012 at 7:15 amDexter looks too cute! And you definitely look in the Mad Men-esque era.

April 14, 2012 at 7:17 amLove the red…I, too, am not a lipstick girl and I don’t have the guts to sport such a bold color. But you totally have the complexion for it… rock it.
Love the blog, btw.

April 14, 2012 at 7:53 amI love going to the MAC store and playing around with all their colors. So much fun!

April 14, 2012 at 8:09 amI’ve never been able to rock the red lip look….they say everyone can, you just need to find your perfect shade of red. Guess I haven’t found mine yet. It looks great on you!

April 14, 2012 at 8:33 ami rarely ever wear dark lipstick anymore. i have fallen in love with pinks and nudes. but it’s fun to play dress up sometimes and put on a darker color. :o)

April 14, 2012 at 9:25 amHow funny!! I JUST posted a photo of myself wearing a new lipstick color – Tango!! (Pantone’s color of the year) on my blog. And proceeded to delve into all the wonderful things that come with being a woman, like brightening your entire day with a cheery lipstick. Is there anything better than being a woman (nope!)?
You look fantastic in both shades of red!

April 14, 2012 at 9:57 amI LOVE that look on you! It accents your skin tone and hair color so well. The wavy hair look is so fun… I need to figure out how to curl my hair like that! Haha.

April 14, 2012 at 10:26 amIs Dexter named after “Dexter” (tv show)?

April 14, 2012 at 10:53 amI love the red lipstick on you. It looks great!
I struggle with lipstick, and I wish I could wear it more. But I am constantly drinking (water, tea, etc) at work and it just wears off so quickly. I wish I could find one that really stayed on as long as it says it will!
Laura @ She Eats Well
April 14, 2012 at 11:15 amI love the idea of lipstick but I hate wearing it. I feel like I can FEEL it on my lips too much and am too attached to my Burts Bees chapstick. However, it looks great and really adds to a look!
Also, I love your cat. Too freaking cute.

April 14, 2012 at 11:21 amI can’t pull off red lipstick, but I think you look great! 🙂
Erin
April 14, 2012 at 11:24 amYou can definitely pull it off. I’ve always wanted to try it out, but it’s never left the comfort of my bathroom before being wiped off. My mother rocks it but somehow I feel weird wearing it.

April 14, 2012 at 11:55 amI’ve heard and seen many great things about ‘Ruby Woo’ and it def looks great on you. I’ll prob never feel like I can pull off the lipstick look so Burt’s Bees chapstick it is for me.
p.s. Dexter is precious and I’m sure he wasn’t thinking you would take his mice. 🙂

April 14, 2012 at 12:33 pmI would get red lipstick EVERYWHERE if I ever tried that look.

April 14, 2012 at 3:21 pmMy goodness I love the red lipstick! For all of my dances in high school I made excuses for myself to dress up in chiffon, polka dots, red lipstick, and of course…white gloves.

April 14, 2012 at 7:00 pmI love the red on you! I always feel like a clown in red, but I’ve always wished I could pull it off 🙂

April 14, 2012 at 7:31 pmI love the idea of red lipstick but have never really worn it out in public since I’m not much of a lipstick kind of girl (lip balm all the way). I know I have several red lipsticks that have never been worn…perhaps I should break them out one day and freak everyone out since I barely wear makeup to work anymore.
Oh and I love your cat! Dexter (?) is like my cat (Fatty) except that she’s a long-haired who because of her long fur, looks exceptionally fat.
