Good morning!
I treated this morning like a Sunday–-waffle-style!

Yep, this was an amazing day to start a Humpday all right! I used the last 1/2 cup of my box of Kodiak Cakes Mix (need to get more of this, asap) and then topped my huge waffle with 1/3 cup Oikos, blueberries and toasted sliced almonds. Get this: I AM OUT OF MAPLE SYRUP! And that stuff is just so darn expensive that I need to wait until I get a paycheck to buy more. So good, so worth it, but so expensive.

So today is one of my favorite days of the week because I get to go to the power yoga class I love at noon, which was partly why I ate this big breakfast—lunch won’t be until 2:00! This class always totally kicks my butt but the final savasana is oh so worth it. 😉
I’m online for the next few hours working on writing another True/Slant article (hmm what shall today be?!) and doing some random side projects. Twitter me! 😛

July 29, 2009 at 9:09 amJenna, your food pictures always look amazing. Is it the camera, or do you process them with any software? I use Picasa occasionally (it’s free & easy to use) but mine dont look even half as good! x

July 29, 2009 at 9:13 amKiki,
Its the camera. I don’t use any special software but I do use a tiny Canon Powershot camera that totally rocks the house. 🙂

July 29, 2009 at 9:46 amWaffles always remind me of college dorm cafeterias! My college had our logo on the waffle iron to brand all the waffles–crucial for football game day school pride at breakfast time!
Eve
July 29, 2009 at 9:46 amThat looks divine!! Seems like you did well without the maple syrup, the yogurt & blueberries make such a great topping. Going without the maple syrup for some time will make it even more worth it when you do eventually buy it!

July 29, 2009 at 9:52 amHOLY YUM Jenna! That waffle looks amazing. And yay for a Dexter appearance! Haha

July 29, 2009 at 9:56 amI hear yag, my huge bottel from WH is $20!!!!! And it SHOULD last me a long time, but I use it to bake a lot so sadly it doesn’t last that long after all lol.

July 29, 2009 at 9:57 amI love waffles, wish I had time to make them in the mornings though 🙁
Your cat is so funny, how is it that the one thing they know they’re not supposed to lay on and get all hairy is the only thing they want? Mine always sleep in the clean laundry baskets. Never when they’re full of dirty clothes though, no – always clean…
Jenna
July 29, 2009 at 9:59 amyummy!! waffles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

July 29, 2009 at 10:05 amI have become such a greek yogurt fan! I may not even need the maple syrup! I hate that that the artificially flavored, preservative laden syrup is so cheap. But, the real deal is almost $10 a bottle!!
Krissy - Single Serving
July 29, 2009 at 10:08 amWaffles and blueberries (they’re the one berry I really don’t care for – though I know they are so good for me!) don’t usually don’t do it for me but those pictures look absolutely amazing.

July 29, 2009 at 10:22 amcheck out maple syrup at costco! last time i was there i saw JUGS of it for the same price as a small bottle at the grocery store. i grew up with real maple syrup (literally, my neighbors had a business tapping trees) and couldn’t imagine going without.
Lori
July 29, 2009 at 10:26 amThat waffle looks yummy! My kitty loves to lay (and claw at) my gym bag. She thinks it is hers 😀

July 29, 2009 at 10:29 amAwww what a cutie! Dexter likes to lay on/in just about everything, doesn’t he?! Your breakfast makes me wish I didn’t already eat my bowl of cereal so I could have delectable waffles!!! Hmmm I think that will be on the menu for tomorrow 😉 Can’t wait to read the new article!!!

July 29, 2009 at 10:33 amWhat a lovely “comfort food” breakfast to start out the day. SO delicious! I’ve actually found that I like adding agave nectar onto my waffles and pancakes even better than maple syrup. It adds the perfect amount of sweetness without tasting too sugary. 🙂
Taylor
July 29, 2009 at 10:46 amThat waffle look ah-mazing!!! My cat loves trying to get into bags, but he’s so big and cant fit into them! Did your cat try to fit into your purse?

July 29, 2009 at 11:40 amGet the maple syrup at costco! Haha it’s a huge jug, but I’m sure it’ll keep and be cheaper in the long run.

July 29, 2009 at 11:45 amLovely looking waffle!! A belgian waffle maker is definitely on my list of kitchen things to get… I always make a special breakfast for myself mid-week. Makes getting out of bed easier 🙂

July 29, 2009 at 12:50 pmJenna, if you’re ever near a Trader Joe’s again, get their “Maple Agave Blend” — it’s delicious, cheaper, AND fewer calories than regular syrup!

July 29, 2009 at 1:20 pmHi, I love your blog! I found you through the Murphy Goode interviews. Did you get that job? You are so lucky! I have diagnosed myself with some sort of gluten allergy. Got any good gluten-free diet ideas?

July 29, 2009 at 1:34 pmWhat a cute picture of Dexter!
The waffle looks fab.

July 29, 2009 at 1:36 pmI go through the same debate with maple syrup. Trader Joe’s, however, sells some more moderately priced varieties, which is great for the budget!
Carolyn
July 29, 2009 at 1:38 pmI’m gonna have to make some Fiber One pancakes (awesome mix…a little sweet and very light and fluffy) this weekend. Your post is making me crave carbs!
P.S. I’m giving away a free container of Spirutein on my blog!

July 29, 2009 at 2:00 pmthat waffle looks amazing!
Cynthia (It all changes)
July 29, 2009 at 2:06 pmThat is my favorite way to eat waffles too. Hunni just likes regular syrup but always mix some greek yogurt, honey and bluberries with some almonds to top mine. Delicious!
Jess
July 29, 2009 at 3:25 pmI like yogurt and fruit on pancakes/waffles. Sometimes I’ll use a fruit spread. Rarely maple syrup.
Jess
July 29, 2009 at 3:30 pmwaffles for breakfast; what a great idea 🙂 we never do that in belgium 🙂 funny but i guess it’s delicious!
