I woke up ready to seize the day over here! I actually woke up an hour earlier this morning because I’m going to head to the gym asap, shower and get ready and then I’m doing my first podcast and having lunch with the food editor of Creative Loafing! I’m super excited—they are interviewing me on the podcast about the blog and everything and once I get that information on how you all can tune in, I will shoot it your way. Hopefully I won’t blurt out something random and silly!
I am OUT of Amazing Meal!!!!! So sad, so sad. I ordered some more though and tracked my package, which says it should be arriving tomorrow, so this morning I had to make due with cold cereal—-
Actually this bowl was amazing and just what I was craving! I combined 1 cup Nature’s Path Banana Almond Optimum cereal, 1/2 cup Quaker Oatmeal Squares and 2 tbsp MixMyGranola Recovery Mix with unsweetened almond milk. Crunchy, cool and delicious!
And now friends, the moment has finally arrived—-
Made possible by Stonyfield Farm, Fooduzz and Zesty Cook, the Healthy Living Summit is going to (obvi) be the hit of the summer and an event you really don’t want to miss. Meet myself, Kath, Tina, Heather, Meghann and Caitlin as we take on Boston in food blogger style. Tickets go on sale TOMORROW at 8pm EST on our website and we expect to sell out within minutes since we are only taking 125 attendees to keep a more personal size to the conference and get to know everyone better!
Which is why I will be giving away ONE ticket to a very lucky ELR reader tonight!!! This ticket is a ticket to the conference (retailed value at $30) and does not include airfare or hotel. PLEASE make sure if you enter this giveaway that you are actually able to attend. I will be randomly picking the winner tonight at 10 pm EST. All you have to do enter is leave a comment on this post stating why you really want to come to the Summit.
Good luck and see you in Boston! 😉

I will NOT be able to attend unfortunately but I wanted to send you this passage. I know since your brothers’ death you have taken over the reins on his surfboard and hit the waters, and have talked about his and your connection to the ocean. I’m currently reading “Fierce Heart” which is a book about the history of Makaha, Hawai’i and the soul of Hawaiian surfing. Below is a paragraph that made me think of you and your zest for living life to the fullest and enjoying everyone your path crosses with….”
“When people come to Hawai’i, they hear people say, ‘Aloha,;” Brian [Keaulana] says. “But they don’t really understand the kauna, which is like the meaning.” He explained that alo is like the leaf of the taro plant and signifies the human face and ha is like the breath of life. “The Hawaiians used to put their heads together and exchange breaths. So ha is like Chinese chi or Japanese ki.” When greeding each other or departing, they would touch foreheads and exchange breaths. “Aloha is enveloping someone with your whole essence or aura. It’s understanding the true essence of yourself and giving it to others.”

Also, I NEED to come to Boston and run some of the marathon course so that I can practice for the real thing. How am I going to win if I don’t practice? LOL
Are you convinced yet that I deserve the ticket? If not then I can come up with many more reasons!

I have so many reasons for wanting to come to the Summit! I am a long-time fan of your blog, not to mention Tina’s and Kath’s. Plus, during that weekend, my husband and his friends are travelling all the way to Indiana to go to some video gaming conference, and I need a vacation too!! 🙂 Not to mention that I have a wonderful friend who lives in New England – maybe I’d actually get to see her this year… Plus Boston is my favorite city!

I would love to come to the summit so I can meet all of YOU GUYS, who make my day every morning when I read your incredible blogs!
MelindaJune 24, 2009 at 9:08 am
I really want to come to the summit because I love your blog and I visit pretty much every day! I also would love to meet all of you! Your food and life are so inspiring especially since I am stuck in a little town w/only travel as my relief 🙂 It’s also around the time of my wedding anniversary of 10 years (I know I can’t believe it!) and I would love to celebrate in Boston- I’ve never been there and I would love to visit! Also, if I win a ticket then it would push me to attend, I am kind of a shy person, so maybe this would get me out of my comfort zone and maybe I could make some new friends as well! 😀
Michelle C.June 24, 2009 at 9:10 am

Amy PachecoJune 24, 2009 at 9:21 am
Winning this ticket would be the coolest thing ever! I don’t know if you watch the national weather (most people don’t) but it has been raining here in Boston for what seems like FOREVER. And sadly, it has really started to get to me!
I read ALL of the blogs, so imagine my surprise when talk of the summit came about. (Clearly I voted for Boston to be the location since I live here; however I must say I was secretly hoping for it to be held in Florida since it would be a great excuse to visit the Sunshine state =) I was actually researching ways to get to the other possible locations when news hit: THE SUMMIT WAS TO BE HELD IN BOSTON! Yipppppeeeee!
To be able to meet ALL OF YOU would totally rock — Period.
HeatherJune 24, 2009 at 9:21 am
Hi Jenna! I really want to go to the conference to be able to report back to my blog readers, too 🙂 Hope to see you in Boston!
KrystinaJune 24, 2009 at 9:21 am
I’m psyched to hear your podcast! Listening to podcasts keeps me sane at work…
I would love to attend the Summit so that I can meet health-oriented folks in my future city! I’m moving to Boston in the Fall and can’t think of a better way to kick off my new life!
MarieJune 24, 2009 at 9:24 am
I would absolutely love to meet the bloggers and attend the summit because since reading the blog, I have developed a better relationship between myself and food and have began to shift my food priorities. As an almost college graduate / full time worker in Boston, I can definitely attend the summit and I look forward to meeting the other bloggers. Since reading the blogs a few months ago, I’ve started to make healthy changes to my diet and have stuck with an exercise plan. Though I don’t really need to lose thaat much weight, I was on the college student diet (fatty foods, take out, eating as much free food as possible, etc) and have really transitioned into a more health-conscious way of life. Plus, I got a few friends to sign up for a half marathon with me in October. So thanks for the constant motivation to live a healthier life and I hope you pick me to attend the conference. Thanks 🙂
PS. I did an internship in Greenville for 6 months and absolutely lovedddd Charleston when I visited. Though Boston is a great city, I bet Charleston is another ultimate college town! I’d love to live there some day.
Mary BethJune 24, 2009 at 9:24 am
I’d enjoy meeting all of the fab bloggers in real life, exchange healthy lifestyle ideas/mantras but most of all… would totally look forward to the Sunday run! How fun is that!?!

I would love to be able to have the opportunity to hang out and talk about health and food all weekend! Hope to see you soon!
KatiJune 24, 2009 at 9:33 am

I live in Boston and would definately be able to attend. I’d love to meet you and the other lovely ladies to thank you in person for the daily inspiration and motivation you’ve provided me to make positive changes in my life. My lifestyle and health has dramatically improved over the past year and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you. I’d love to show you my before and after pictures and ask each of you some questions about training and nutrition. I’d also like to attend in order to meet other blog readers so I could hear their stories and get their advice as well.

My sister has spent the past 6 months in Argentina studying and she’ll be back in late July. We’ve picked that weekend in Boston to be our weekend to see each other for the first time in 6 months to share our passion for healthy living. It would be so so great to be able to go to this Healthy Living Summit!

We (meaning my friend Casey and I) are new to the blogging world and we are addicted! Our blog has become a great, creative outlet to share our passion of food and fitness with others! : ) We were pumped to hear about the summit, but got nervous once we realized there are only 125 spots! We both desperately want to go, it would be a great way to continue to experience our introduction to this side of the blogging world! Seeing that there are two of us, and we both really want to be able to attend together, we realllllyyy want to make sure that somehow we both get tickets! Getting at least one free ticket prior to the official registration would be AWESOME! PLEASE PICK US! : )
KodiJune 24, 2009 at 10:06 am

Amy A.June 24, 2009 at 10:22 am
I have been reading your blog (and most of the other summit planners’ blogs) from their inception, and I am only recently realizing how much I could/will benefit from having my own blog. The summit would be a great motivator to me. And i’d love to meet you all!
JuliaJune 24, 2009 at 10:22 am

Tammy (Defining Wellness)June 24, 2009 at 10:32 am
I want to come to the Summit to meet all the bloggers who inspired me to recover and who taught me what healthy eating is all about! I’m also passionate about nutrition and would love to learn more information that I can use and that I can pass on to my own readers!

i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to come to the summit! I have already secured a couch to crash on!!
RebeccaJune 24, 2009 at 10:55 am
I really want to go! The school that I currently go to doesn’t offer a food, nutrition, and wellness major. Reading your food blog, along with others, and starting my own has really opened my eyes to what I want to do with my life. I might even transfer to another school because of it. I love blogging and reading blogs! I’m actually going to be in a yoga class tomorrow when the registration starts so I know I won’t be able to get a ticket! Winning one would be the most amazing thing ever!
Jaime (Embracing Balance)June 24, 2009 at 10:55 am

Can’t wait!

I love ur blog and am getting my sister who is also very healthy minded into it to.. It would be a great little mini vaca before school starts back up for her! I hope I win and will be on at 8 tomorrow regardless to either get both tickets if I dont win or to get one more!

I can’t wait to meet everyone! I feel like I can learn so much and it will be so much fun! I started reading these blogs a few months ago and they have really inspired me to make a change in my lifestyle and my diet. Brendan Brazier’s Thrive Diet also helped! That interview was really great!
Looking forward to the conference and your podcast!
Penny K.June 24, 2009 at 11:54 am

I would love to come to the conference after 6 months of living in Argentina (where the typical diet=meat, cheese, wine, dulce de leche–I miss veggies!!) My sister and I are planning a weekend together that weekend and, after 6 months of not seeing each other, we would LOVE to be able to reconnect sharing our passion for healthy living with yall in Boston!
The Healthy AppleJune 24, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Good morning…hope the sun is shining in Florida because it sure isn’t shining here in Manhattan…I would absolutely love the opportunity to receive this free ticket to the blogger summit. I am dying to go and I will be able to come to Boston that weekend!!! As a nutritionist in Manhattan and a huge fan of Eat, Live, Run, I would love the opportunity to meet you and the other bloggers…you have inspired so many men and women all over the world with your blog, interviews and insightful articles. I would be honored to meet all of you. Moreover, I love meeting others interested in healthy living and nutrition as it truly is one of my passions in life. I have worked with all of your sponsors for this event and I am delighted to see that they are going to be incorporated into the fun-filled weekend! I haven’t been up to Boston since I graduated from BU a few years ago and I would love this opportunity to come up there and meet you and all of the other bloggers. This event is going to be so incredibly inspirational and I would love the opportunity to be a part of this great experience.
Have a great day and I hope to see you in Bean Town!!!

I could not be more excited about this summit! After reading ALL of these blogs over the last year, I have used them as inspiration to loose 19 lbs, and still read them as a way to maintain. I actually started my OWN BLOG last week.
http://www.foodfitnessfashion.wordpress.com. I live in Boston so I could def. make it. I am excited to meet everyone in real life!!!
JennJune 24, 2009 at 12:25 pm
I’m so sorry that your morning couldn’t include Amazing Meal! Though I ‘m waiting for my 2lb container to come in the mail, I cannot have a good morning without some type of a green monster! It just charges me!

Hi! I’d love to come to the summit. I am so excited that it is actually at a time and place that I can get to as I live all the way in Los Angeles. I’ve rescheduled my trip home to CT a bit so that I would be able to go. Now I just need a ticket and it seems like they will go very fast! Here’s hoping…
kerryJune 24, 2009 at 12:36 pm
I think the Summit is SUCH a good idea! I remember taking a survey about it awhile ago and I’ve been craving the details ever since!! I am a new blogger and I’m currently getting my mind, heart and body squared away on a healthy lifestyle. It’s a work in progress and all of the support helps! I read several health/food/lifestyle blogs daily and try to challenge myself each and every day to become a better and stronger person. The support and motivation of others is something that does miraculous wonders. I would absolutely love the opportunity to meet and share a weekend with people who are OR were in the same spot that I am in now.
Good luck, bloggers! 🙂
faithJune 24, 2009 at 12:38 pm

I just graduated and am making a transition into the working world of…Boston! I started reading your and others’ healthy living blogs this spring and have tried to implement some of the healthy changes into my lifestyle. I think it’s really important as I make this shift in my life to maintain healthy eating and living habits to really enjoy what I hope will be the best part of my life! (Not my four years of college as most people might say! What’s the fun in always looking back and never anticipating good times to come?) I would love to attend to get to know other bloggers and people who are passionate about their lives and their happiness! Thanks!
leslieJune 24, 2009 at 12:45 pm
I totally want to go to Boston! Pick me Pick me please! You guys are awesome for putting this together. I know its going to be amazing for everyone who gets in! And I hope to be one of them!

I would like to go because I want to meet young, health-oriented individuals like myself and discuss stuff like vegetables and running without getting looked at like I have three heads. 🙂
I would also like to go because I was supposed to run the Boston Marathon this spring and got a stress fracture with three weeks to go…I didn’t go on my planned Boston mini-vacation in the spring so I’d like to go now!

I would really love to earn a free ticket to the Healthy Living Summitt. This January, I FINALLY conquered my battle with anorexia (YAY!) and transformed into a vegan and health food fanatic – a complete 360 from where I was a year ago. It is people like YOU and the other bloggers that inspired me and got me where I am today. I would be SO incredibly honored to go and meet you…and even more blessed to have you choose me as the lucky winner!

I would love to come to the summit. I have two kids and the summit would be the perfect excuse for a mini vacation and learn more about how to keep myself and the kids healthy at the same time.

Oh how the Summit would help me! I’m 27, fighting mpnst (a rare soft tissue cancer) since age 9. I’m on my fourth tumor and have had countless surgeries and I’m currently rocking 3 stainless-steel plates to hold me together. Sarcomas are rare so I not only see a doctor but also watch what I eat and run. I think of food as medicine and love food blogs as they give me new meal ideas and keep my head in the fight, even if someday I want a big mac! Attending the summit would combine food, my fight, and FUN…something that is hard to do these days. Love the blog and am excited to see what’s all planned out!!

I would love a ticket to Summit! I’m going down to visit one of my friends in Boston at some point this summer anyway — why not kill two birds with one stone (or plane)?!

I’ve been a regular reader of your blog – just got your e-cookbooks and they are fabulous! I love studying nutrition and have for years – I can’t get enough and feel like a lifelong student. I live just outside of Boston so I would LOVE to attend the summit! Good luck to the winner!

I so so so want to go to this summit! I just want to go and hang out with my foodie peeps.
Hey! If I can’t get a ticket (either free or by paying for it) I would love to get together with the other Boston area folks who couldn’t make it.
