Swimming in Sushi

Hi everyone 🙂

Tonight we met our friends, Todd and Carly for a sushi dinner! We tried a new place and although it definitely wasn’t as good as our usual hole-in-the-wall place, it was still fun. Like usual, we ordered way too much though!!! I ordered three rolls because one of the rolls was small and simple and because at this point (it was almost 9:00) my stomach was eating itself!!!!!

Immediately upon sitting down I ordered my favorite seaweed salad. I just can’t get enough of this stuff! We also ordered edamame for all of us and I nibbled off that as well.

Carly didn’t want her miso soup so I kindly took it off her hands 🙂 :

And for dinner, I have really have no idea what all the stuff we ordered was! I know that I ordered a California Roll, a Salmon Roll and some “simple” roll but I don’t even remember what it was now. It was yummy but way too much! Here was our spread:

As a total guess, I’m saying I ate 12 pieces of the sushi rolls you see here. I honestly don’t know though. I ate until I was sushied out. None of it was knock your socks off amazing, but I was starving and it was yummy. I was also very thirsty and guzzled three glasses of ice water.

Afterwards we all walked to Coldstone for dessert—Ryan’s favorite! I got a kid’s cup of “sinless sweet cream” with oreo. I tasted both this and the “real” sweet cream and couldn’t tell a difference between the two, so I chose the lighter option. Delicious! It was the perfect amount…..1 scoop of ice cream with 1 oreo. I put a spoonful of Ryan’s chocolate peanut butter as a topper. 😉 Honestly, I like the soft serve chocolate almond ice cream I get from Abbotts a thousand times more but this is what there was and it was a fun double date.

This afternoon I went on a run outside instead of plain ol’ gym cardio. It was GREAT!!! It was really really hot and muggy but I strapped on a sports bra and a camel pack of water and just went for it. I ran for about 35-40 minutes and had a consistent pace the entire time. I felt like I was in my race-training mode again—my legs felt strong and I felt very powerful despite the heat. I did stop a couple times throughout though for about a minute to catch my breath and drink some water. Of course I forgot my pedometer but I’m thinking I ran about 3 1/2 miles.

When I got home I drank about five glasses of ice water and ate another snack because I knew dinner wouldn’t be for awhile. I had a pear and a string cheese. It was a spur of the moment sweaty snack. I also broke into my emergency almond stash on my drive over to Tampa but there were only about six almonds left. Needless to say, I was QUITE hungry by the time I got into Tampa and we went out to dinner!

Tomorrow is going to be busy. Ryan’s parents are giving us all their old bedroom furniture to put in the extra room in the apartment and so when I move in, I have some drawers to put my clothes in. 🙂 This is great but what it means is that we need to be in St. Pete tomorrow morning at 8:00 to pick up this big truck, drive over to Ryan’s parent’s house, load up all the furniture by ourselves, drive it back to Tampa, unload it and somehow get it all up three flights of stairs and then drive the truck back to St. Pete. Woah!!! We also are going to try to make it to the pool to swim some laps in the afternoon and lay out in the sun after all this craziness.

See you in the morning!

The sushi looks very good, i agree. I think I would’ve had a hard time holding back as well! What does the seaweed salad taste like, exactly? Just curious…

Drug reps brought in cold stone creamery to our office on monday, and I must say, the chocolate peanut butter is to DIE for if you love pb as much as I do! 🙂 I will have to remember the kiddie size the next time I go there though; the reps brought in waffle bowls and it was quite hard not to try and fill them w/ the various arrays of flavors they brought in!

I had japanese for dinner last night as well. Instead of sushi, I had a bento box filled with teriyaki cod, various types of sashimi, miso soup, assorted pickles, potato salad, tamago, konnyaku and some other tuber vegetable. It was very yummy. I find it ironic that my dinner costs slightly less than my dessert.

We went out to a chocolate cafe and I had a passionfruit souffle with raspberry coulis, moroccan mint tea and big fork-fulls of my friend’s rasperry tart. Very good but not cheap! It’s very expensive to eat out these days.

I don’t like Coldstone that much either. I know it’s supposed to be wonderful with the mix-ins, but I just don’t get it. It’s already melty!

    Have a great Saturday, Jenna.

Let me get this straight. You ran for 35-40 minutes in Florida during the day in August?!?!

You’re a brave woman. I’m in Jacksonville and I would never even attempt such a suicidal feat =P

I hate living in a landlocked state, there is one sushi place near me and it is really iffy, it’s just not good when it has to travel clear accross the country! Enjoy your coastal delicousness!

p.s. my family is buying a vacation condo in Fl soon, not sure where it will be but if it’s near you we should meet up for diner or something…possible for sushi 🙂

Oh wow, maybe it’s my refined palate (haha) but I think the sinless is so different than the regular. I go for the original.

And now I want sushi for lunch; looks awesome.
