This post deserves a disclaimer.
Let it be noted that I am neither an alcoholic or on the verge of a mental breakdown. I’m simply a mid-twenties girl living in wine country.
Alright then.
This evening around 5:10 I needed a glass of wine. And when I say needed, I mean needed. True, it’s only Tuesday and true I don’t have a “normal” job but I had a rough day yesterday and simply nothing else would do.
So, I did what any girl in desperate need of wine would do. I raced out the door and to the nearest tasting room…making it in only the nick of time.

God bless Murphy-Goode and bless them for staying open until 5:30 when most tasting rooms close at 5:00.

I raced to the counter, looking rather like a drowned rat since it was pouring outside, and panted:
Liar’s Dice
Liar’s Dice
Liar’s Dice
Okay, so I didn’t really “pant”….but you know. It was frantic.

Naturally they recognized me as the “one who got away”…or, rather, the one that wouldn’t leave after A Really Goode Job last summer.

I thanked the kind man profusely and ran back out into the rain with my prized purchase.

April 20, 2010 at 5:37 pmJenna – after visiting you at Murphy-Goode last year and falling in love with Liar’s Dice I can attest to your desperation! We have spent out fair share of allotted grocery money on it!

April 20, 2010 at 5:42 pmYay for wine!!! I had some delicious white wine tonight for my birthday, and it was totally totally needed. I’ve really only tried white wines. I mean, i’ve had some tastes of reds in the past but nothing that just amazed me with it’s deliciousness.
What type of red wine would you recommend starting with?

April 20, 2010 at 5:56 pmA glass of wine just hits the spot sometimes. I say go with it, after all, you are in wine country!

April 20, 2010 at 6:15 pmhehehe you crack me up. Good for you! : ) wine is good for the body AND soul….
Give your hair some time and the conditioning treatments. I thought my hair would never come around after one time (5 times) too many highlights, and now it’s back to it’s soft self. Your hair is just trying to teach you a lesson to love it no matter what. lol.

April 20, 2010 at 6:21 pmLet’s be honest, sometimes women in their twenties need a glass of wine by…oh…9 am. No. Big. Deal. PS Your corkscrew + cork remind me of one of those grabby arm things that the elderly (or short people) use to grab things off the top shelf. π

April 20, 2010 at 6:30 pmI just love the mental image I had from reading this story. Hilarious! I also loved how you prefaced this post – “I am not an alcoholic or on the verge of a mental breakdown.” In my book, drinking a glass of wine at 8:00am is a-ok if the day has already called for it! π

April 20, 2010 at 6:36 pmAre you for real with this post? I think I’m over this blog.

April 20, 2010 at 6:40 pmI love your disclaimer. And I completely concur. Sometimes you just need that glass wine or that cookie! It’s the third and fourth glass (and you have an empty bottle) that could potentially cause some problems…or not π
Have a good Tuesday night with your wine!

April 20, 2010 at 6:40 pmI bought a bottle of this last fall after recognizing it from reading your blog and it got praise from all 4 of us that drank it– including someone who is tough to impress with wine! I kind of want wine now…

April 20, 2010 at 11:41 pmThere is nothing wrong with that At.All!! In fact, like it is perfectly normal in wine country, it is perfectly normal in Germany as well (as you know anyway). No one thinks anything of that behavoir. In fact, I get as excited as little kids do when the ice cream truck comes around when our beer delivery man (like the milk man) comes to our house every Thursday night for a 10 minute mini wine/beer tasting. Did I mention this was free? Yes, no shame in “needing” a glass of wine! Good for the body, good for the soul!

and if anyone EVER thought you were an alcoholic they would have to be nuts or never had fun in their twenties!! I am in my 30’s (did I just say that out loud??!!) and I am still loving life and having fun like I did in my 20’s only I am smarter now and only drink “the good” stuff so as not to have horrible hangovers.

April 21, 2010 at 6:08 amThis post made me laugh! I give you all the credit for turning me onto Murphy Goode wine, I’m not even a white wine fan normally but the Fume has become a refreshing choice on a hot Chicago summer night. And to me there is nothing more relaxing than kicking back with a glass of wine.
