Whew! I am EXHAUSTED.
But look, I have full length mirrors!
And a mountain of shoes!
Shoes were clearly the first priority in the move.
This morning I packed up my car and then proceeded to lug all my worldly belongings up three flights of stairs. Elevators? What are those? At least I got a workout out of it!
I ate my packed lunch while at the studio earlier—
Another really, really big grapefruit and an english muffin with peanut butter. Someday my food will be exciting again…I promise!
After dragging all those heavy suitcases, I needed some protein.
Why do I feel like a man when I snack on turkey breast?
Don’t answer that.
Many times today I’ve been reminded to slow down. I like to live my life in the fast lane. I’ll be the first to admit. I thrive off busy schedules, moving, trips, events….yada yada yada. Today at a few different points I just had to remind myself to take a deep breath and relax a little. I don’t have to completely move everything in one afternoon. I don’t have to accept every opportunity (however cool it may be!) that comes my way. I don’t have to be there for everyone all the time. I can take a nap.
I feel better now.
What I DO need to do is take a shower and put my laundry in the drier. One thing at a time, friends. One thing at a time.
Jessica @ How Sweet It IsMay 12, 2010 at 3:16 pm
Full length mirrors are a must! And shoes would also be my number 1 priority. 🙂
JilMay 12, 2010 at 3:18 pm
Woo full-length mirrors! Love all the boots. 🙂
TayMay 12, 2010 at 3:19 pm
LOL “don’t answer that.” Your shoes look cute!!
Lindsay @ Summit SandwichesMay 12, 2010 at 3:20 pm
Haha. I also feel like a man when I snack on any kind of deli meat. I think it just’s because we’re eating MEAT alone without any other sides to gussy it up. Do condiments somehow make meat more “feminine”? Hmmm….
Lisa (bakebikeblog)May 12, 2010 at 3:22 pm
Great work on the move girl – it sure can be a fantasic wokout!!!
Staceyhttp://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/May 12, 2010 at 3:24 pm
Yay your getting all moved in.
Evan ThomasMay 12, 2010 at 3:28 pm
Glad to see your day has gotten better
Heather (Heather's Dish)May 12, 2010 at 3:32 pm
woohoo! your apartment looks awesome and adorable…hopefully you’ll give us a little tour when it’s all set up with your fancy new couch 🙂
SarahMay 12, 2010 at 3:40 pm
Congratulations on the new place! Isn’t a new apartment kind of like a fresh start? I love that feeling.
Obviously, shoes are a top priority!
JennyMay 12, 2010 at 3:41 pm
Moving is the best workout! It is important to stop and smell the roses, too:)
JMay 12, 2010 at 3:54 pm
Awwww the Dexter pics get me every time!!!! So sweet and lovable!
AmeenaMay 12, 2010 at 3:55 pm
Moving is a great workout…and without an elevator? I consider that enough exercise for the week.
And home isn’t really home without a full length mirror!
M(a different M than the other M!!)May 12, 2010 at 4:04 pm
Hope Dexter loves the new apt?
Do you have laundry at this apt? That would be really nice for you for a change!
And I still am excited about your sofa…you’ll be wonderin’ what you did before it came along 🙂
(Go Montreal Canadians!!!!)
JessicaMay 12, 2010 at 4:05 pm
woohoo! lookin’ good jenna! the apt looks fab! happy moving day!
IlanaMay 12, 2010 at 4:11 pm
Shoes are the most important thing to move. Hands. Down.
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly VegMay 12, 2010 at 4:12 pm
Slowing down is important– but I know that feeling of wanting to get everything DONE in one day!
You need to post pictures of your new place!
Heather @ Side of SneakersMay 12, 2010 at 4:13 pm
Congrats on the move!
Kailey (SnackFace)May 12, 2010 at 4:13 pm
Woohoo to moving in!!! Gotta take yo time! You know what your “one thing at a time” mantra reminds me of?
This tasty, sugary musical snack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIE5QtkxzvM
I hope you enjoy. Very yippy-skippy.
Suzanne de CorneliaMay 12, 2010 at 4:16 pm
Dexter looks a little, ‘WTF? New day, new deal.’ lol Sooooooo cute.
Sarah (Oc2Seattle)May 12, 2010 at 4:23 pm
Hooray for full length mirrors! Never realized how necessary they were until I lived in a house that didn’t have a single one and spent half my mornings hopping on and off chairs to try to see how my shoes looked with my skirt/pants! It doesn’t really work BTW 😉
RachaelMay 12, 2010 at 4:27 pm
Waves of empathy flowing your way – I think I’ve moved about twenty times (low estimate) since college. I just turned 28, and despite the whole “adult” thing, I’m still resisting the acquisition of furniture – wandering tendencies and mattresses do not good friends make 🙂
Enjoy the new place (and even though I profess to have sworn off furniture, I’m secretly jealous of your vintage-looking couch!)
Jessica @ The Process of HealingMay 12, 2010 at 4:28 pm
Yay for the new place!!!
Yeah, I have to remind myself to just BREATHE sometimes.
MMillerMay 12, 2010 at 4:31 pm
Just telling you to take it easy because you were sick for a few days…don’t want a relapse! And do you have your own washer/dryer in the new place? Yea for full length mirrors!
KatiMay 12, 2010 at 4:47 pm
Can’t wait to see your new place all fixed up! I know how exhausting moving can be :/ Take a bubble bath tonight!
Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble)May 12, 2010 at 4:54 pm
Shoes are totally a top priority 😛
Have fun with the new apartment!!
amandaMay 12, 2010 at 5:02 pm
Turkey and laughing cow cheese wedge is one of my favorite snacks. Sometimes I might even eat some strawberries with it. Have fun with the moving!
LowMay 12, 2010 at 5:26 pm
That’s amazing that you were able to remind YOURSELF to slow down. I usually have to be told 🙂
Alaina @ Alaina Goes AbroadMay 12, 2010 at 5:48 pm
I have those brown Steve Madden boots in the shoes picture! Wooohoo!
Moving sucks, but at least you didn’t have any furniture to haul…right?
Lauren @ Health on the RunMay 12, 2010 at 6:01 pm
Yay!! Congrats on the new place…and the full-length mirrors! Good luck with the rest of your move. Slow and steady does it. 🙂
runnerforeverMay 12, 2010 at 6:29 pm
Haha, I always feel really awkward when I eat turkey straight up 🙂
firstname.lastname@example.orgMay 12, 2010 at 6:32 pm
how fabulous are ur boots! o and i need to get a full length mirror in my room- always wanted one 🙂
eatmoveloveMay 12, 2010 at 7:11 pm
Do you have a washer and dryer? You have internet I guess LOL!
So right about not having to do everything at once…every time I moved I would get so overwhelmed because I had like nothing and only myself to do it…I had to tell myself, “so what if I sleep on the floor for a week”, get it one chair at a time…just make sure you got toilet paper…;)
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run]May 12, 2010 at 7:25 pm
Your place looks fantastic just by the mirror alone!
Don’t overdo yourself. It’s alright to ride in the slow lane sometimes 🙂
KaitMay 12, 2010 at 7:32 pm
Good luck with the rest of the move, just go with the flow!
Deva (Voracious Vorilee)May 12, 2010 at 8:13 pm
Good luck with the remainder of your move. I remember when I was lugging belongings up and down multiple flights of stairs in college – two buildings I lived in had no elevators, and my freshman year I lived on the fourth floor!
diana@mymarbleryeMay 12, 2010 at 8:25 pm
full length mirrors can be good AND bad…depending on the angle…and lighting. 🙂 Jenna, seeing your moving pics is giving me anxiety..I loathe moving…but I do enjoy new adventures that come from after the move.
Lizz @ leadingthegoodlifeMay 12, 2010 at 8:26 pm
Great job on the move! I hope we get a little tour, like last time!
ClaireMay 12, 2010 at 8:39 pm
YAY for moving…I am sure it will be a great change! Can’t wait to hear how it is closer to some friends!
CamilleMay 12, 2010 at 9:58 pm
Hope the move is going well!
JennaMay 12, 2010 at 10:22 pm
Congrats on the move! I think everyone needs to remind themselves of that sometimes, we live in such a fast paced society. Love your pile of shoes!
Suzanne de CorneliaMay 12, 2010 at 11:20 pm
BTW Diane Sawyer didn’t own furniture till she married Mike Nichols in 1988 at age 43. She owned her NYC apt but had a mattress on the floor. Said was never interested in home decor until married and learned from hubs who loved design.
Freya @ Brit Chick RunsMay 13, 2010 at 12:17 am

Tracey @ I'm Not SuperhumanMay 13, 2010 at 5:24 am
There were two years where both places I lived were on the third floor with no elevator. That was a fun move out-move in-move out process!
HelenMay 13, 2010 at 5:36 am
I love my full length mirror! They are definitely a necessity.
Nora@LiveLifeEatRightMay 13, 2010 at 5:40 am
Looks like such a nice place!! Moving is never easy, but looks like your well on your way!! I mean, you DO have the shoes out haha!
kalli@fitandfortysomethingMay 13, 2010 at 5:42 am

Cynthia (It All Changes)May 13, 2010 at 6:06 am
Hunni and I have tried to take days off and just be bums at home and I always get stir crazy. I totally hear you on loving full schedules.
KellyMay 13, 2010 at 6:38 am
I need that same reminder some of the time…maybe most of the time. I’m guessing you’re a Type A like me.
Andrea (Sweet N Green)May 13, 2010 at 7:37 am
I’m the same way! I thrive off of being busy..it’s what keeps me going most of the time but I’ve been thinking lately that I need to just slow down a little and try to enjoy things along the way.
I love your mound of boots. Those brown western ones look kinda cute!
EllieMay 13, 2010 at 8:10 am
One cute boots- two I love that you are also a reader. I’ve almost finished “American Wife” it’s amazing! Thanks for the heads up I’m loving it!

love the full length mirrors! and shoes are always a priority!
Corinne (breathe and savor)May 13, 2010 at 8:26 am
YAY for full length mirrors! My gosh I dont even remember the last time I had one! ha. Now you can see all those slammin’ hot shoes in the mirror 😉 One task at a time, one day at a time, one.at.a.time! It WILL all get done! Try to incorporate a new way of doing each task and you will be surprised how much you ENJOY doing it and how non frantic you will be IN THAT MOMENT. Also, I bet you won’t think about whats next on your list. 🙂
Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards)May 13, 2010 at 9:18 am

Where did you get that sign in the background of your last pic–with the fleur-de-lis. I’ve been looking for that sign, but it says “c’est la vie” on it!
