Whew! I am EXHAUSTED.
But look, I have full length mirrors!
And a mountain of shoes!

Shoes were clearly the first priority in the move.
This morning I packed up my car and then proceeded to lug all my worldly belongings up three flights of stairs. Elevators? What are those? At least I got a workout out of it!
I ate my packed lunch while at the studio earlier—

Another really, really big grapefruit and an english muffin with peanut butter. Someday my food will be exciting again…I promise!
After dragging all those heavy suitcases, I needed some protein.

Why do I feel like a man when I snack on turkey breast?
Don’t answer that.
Many times today I’ve been reminded to slow down. I like to live my life in the fast lane. I’ll be the first to admit. I thrive off busy schedules, moving, trips, events….yada yada yada. Today at a few different points I just had to remind myself to take a deep breath and relax a little. I don’t have to completely move everything in one afternoon. I don’t have to accept every opportunity (however cool it may be!) that comes my way. I don’t have to be there for everyone all the time. I can take a nap.
I feel better now.
What I DO need to do is take a shower and put my laundry in the drier. One thing at a time, friends. One thing at a time.

May 12, 2010 at 3:16 pmFull length mirrors are a must! And shoes would also be my number 1 priority. 🙂

May 12, 2010 at 3:19 pmLOL “don’t answer that.” Your shoes look cute!!
Lindsay @ Summit Sandwiches
May 12, 2010 at 3:20 pmHaha. I also feel like a man when I snack on any kind of deli meat. I think it just’s because we’re eating MEAT alone without any other sides to gussy it up. Do condiments somehow make meat more “feminine”? Hmmm….

May 12, 2010 at 3:22 pmGreat work on the move girl – it sure can be a fantasic wokout!!!

May 12, 2010 at 3:40 pmCongratulations on the new place! Isn’t a new apartment kind of like a fresh start? I love that feeling.
Obviously, shoes are a top priority!

May 12, 2010 at 3:55 pmMoving is a great workout…and without an elevator? I consider that enough exercise for the week.
And home isn’t really home without a full length mirror!

May 12, 2010 at 4:04 pmHope Dexter loves the new apt?
Do you have laundry at this apt? That would be really nice for you for a change!

May 12, 2010 at 4:23 pmHooray for full length mirrors! Never realized how necessary they were until I lived in a house that didn’t have a single one and spent half my mornings hopping on and off chairs to try to see how my shoes looked with my skirt/pants! It doesn’t really work BTW 😉
Rachael
May 12, 2010 at 4:27 pmWaves of empathy flowing your way – I think I’ve moved about twenty times (low estimate) since college. I just turned 28, and despite the whole “adult” thing, I’m still resisting the acquisition of furniture – wandering tendencies and mattresses do not good friends make 🙂
Enjoy the new place (and even though I profess to have sworn off furniture, I’m secretly jealous of your vintage-looking couch!)

May 12, 2010 at 4:28 pmYay for the new place!!!
Yeah, I have to remind myself to just BREATHE sometimes.

May 12, 2010 at 7:11 pmDo you have a washer and dryer? You have internet I guess LOL!
So right about not having to do everything at once…every time I moved I would get so overwhelmed because I had like nothing and only myself to do it…I had to tell myself, “so what if I sleep on the floor for a week”, get it one chair at a time…just make sure you got toilet paper…;)
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run]
May 12, 2010 at 7:25 pmYour place looks fantastic just by the mirror alone!
Don’t overdo yourself. It’s alright to ride in the slow lane sometimes 🙂

May 12, 2010 at 8:13 pmGood luck with the remainder of your move. I remember when I was lugging belongings up and down multiple flights of stairs in college – two buildings I lived in had no elevators, and my freshman year I lived on the fourth floor!

May 12, 2010 at 8:25 pmfull length mirrors can be good AND bad…depending on the angle…and lighting. 🙂 Jenna, seeing your moving pics is giving me anxiety..I loathe moving…but I do enjoy new adventures that come from after the move.

May 12, 2010 at 11:20 pmBTW Diane Sawyer didn’t own furniture till she married Mike Nichols in 1988 at age 43. She owned her NYC apt but had a mattress on the floor. Said was never interested in home decor until married and learned from hubs who loved design.

May 13, 2010 at 8:26 amYAY for full length mirrors! My gosh I dont even remember the last time I had one! ha. Now you can see all those slammin’ hot shoes in the mirror 😉 One task at a time, one day at a time, one.at.a.time! It WILL all get done! Try to incorporate a new way of doing each task and you will be surprised how much you ENJOY doing it and how non frantic you will be IN THAT MOMENT. Also, I bet you won’t think about whats next on your list. 🙂
