Up and Running

Happy Tuesday, bloggies!

I have two announcements in this post but you will have to read through the day first to find them at the end

(or I guess you could cheat and just scroll down. Oh well)

Last night I actually went to bed at 7:00! It was wonderful. I actually was in bed reading and then my mom came in and was like, “Jennifer, you are EXHAUSTED. If you go to bed NOW you can get 8 hours of sleep. Lights out.” Apparently I am six years old because I listened to my mommy as she shut off my lights and cranked up my fan. I vaguely remember someone receiving a fax (the fax machine is in my room) and mumbling but other than that, I was out cold.

And then this morning I began my day by wearing my POM:

Ah, yes, I did say wearing. 🙁 I was gulping some down just as I was leaving for work this morning and totally missed my mouth. Hate it when that happens. And the fact that I wear an all white uniform didn’t help. Hopefully that stain will come out!!!!!! I took the little bottle to work with me and probably drank 3/4 of it along with about 3/4 of this larabar:

The bar was MEH. I don’t really care for pistachios all that much I guess.

For breakfast I had blueberry chocolate oats

Yummy combo if 3/4 cup scottish oats, 1 cup milk and a splash of water, blueberries and a HUGE spoonful of chocolate peanut butter. I also had a cup of English Breakfast tea with stevia.

Unfortunately, my migraine followed me to work today despite all my sleep last night. Grrrrrr where is my acupuncturist when I need her?! Oh yeah, she is in INDIA for the month of February! Double grrr! I finally relented and bought some excedrin migraine (the bonus of working at a grocery store is everything you need at your fingertips) and that made it FINALLY go away but came with consequences—-such as extreme caffeine overload! Since I rarely consume caffeine anymore as is, 2 excedrins + black tea = jenna running around like a mad woman! I was multi-tasking at it finest….baking today’s products AND assembling tomorrow’s products at the same time, talking 100 words a minute as well!

The above mentioned caffeine overload led to a spontaneous decision, which is announcement number one!

I will be running the Gasparilla Distance Challenge 5K on February 28th!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, let me explain the method to my madness. Publix is the sponsor of the race and, apparently, the store manager was trying to get one associate from each department to participate. He came into the bakery this morning and no one else would do it and he was staring at me and asking please.…so I relented. I’ve never run a 5K before (only a 10K) but how tough can it be? My shin splints from last fall have cleared up for the most part (as in I haven’t run outside SINCE last fall….haha) and I’m going to take it really slow. Hopefully I won’t end up in a wheelchair. Haha 😉

After work I came home and made my favorite sandwich combo for lunch—boar’s head turkey (2.5 slices), provolone and Sabra’s Hummus on my 9 grain bread:

Along with fresh strawberries:

And, speaking of bread, now I will share with you my second announcement!

For all of yall that drooled over my oatmeal bread, now you have the opportunity to taste it for yourself! I donated a loaf to Miss Meghann’s blog bake sale and you can bid for it there…I think bidding goes until 5 pm this afternoon so you better hurry!

I am actually starting my little 5K training TODAY with a one mile run outside. Like I said, I’m taking it slow this time. My plan is to run a mile and then walk for awhile afterwards. We’ll see how it goes!

See you for dinner!

I was jumping at the change to bid on the bake sale…but unfortunately it has ended. Great idea though.

Good luck with the training–I know the horrors (and joys) of attempting to start running again. I used to do marathons/half marathons/tris until I blew my knee out. I did my first 5K back over Thanksgiving. It was the best feeling just knowing I could do a race again!!
