Happy Humpday!
I LOVE Wednesdays!!! I also love Mikan π
He’s such a little dear. Except I could never sleep with him the way my parents do because he snores so loud!
This morning I had steel cut oats for a change…
So good! This is steel cut oats with 1/3 cup cottage cheese, a splash of almond butter, a banana and almond butter.
***
The main reason I love Wednesdays so much is because I loooove my noon power yoga class! It’s always exactly what I need mid-week and the music is always awesome. Right now, I’m about to go walk down the Bay with my mom for 45 minutes or so. Love my morning walks!
Other activities this morning include putting together a blogger winery tour in two weeks when Kath, Tina and I are in California! The awesome BethT is picking us up from the airport that Friday morning and we are headed straight for Sonoma to explore and take on wine country all day…food blogger style. I’m sooooooooooo excited π
Have a lovely morning!

September 9, 2009 at 8:42 amJenna,
You mentioned yesterday that you were making a large batch of oats for the week — do you mind giving a little ‘how-to’ explanation? For instance, what measurements do you use for a weeks batch, how do you store them, and how to you prepare them in the mornings? I’ve tried making oatbran and regular rolled oats ahead of time and both attempts were gummy disasters!
Thanks!
Candi

September 9, 2009 at 9:55 amAwww that looks comfy. Our dogs are complete bed hogs. They only weigh 8 and 11 pounds but they can take up the entire bed. They jump in before us and get comfy and the snort at us when we move them to their blanket at the end of the bed. Somehow once we are asleep Leo always ends up next to Hunni with his head on his pillow. So cute but so annoying some days.
Enjoy Yoga…I’m looking at my schedule to fit some in today too π

September 9, 2009 at 1:11 pmwow I have the stuffed dog that is behind him! I’ve had him since I was a baby..except mine looks like he’s gone through hell! I picked off all the hairs once when I was sick and he’s all ragged and weak looking π I was a creative child and named him “doggie.” That’s funny you have the same one..and you too Bec! I miss him.. he’s at home ;(

September 9, 2009 at 1:21 pmYou guys have to check out El Dorado Kitchen when you are in Sonoma. It’s on first street west….food blogger heaven. Just went last month and had the best lunch ever! We sat outside, loved the whole vibe – decor, service, food, etc. Definite must see.

September 9, 2009 at 4:05 pmI found this on my FAQ page regarding steel cut oat preparation! π
I was wondering when you get the chance, could you post exactly how you make your steel cut oats (what brand you use, how to make them the night before and then out to reheat them in morning, how to make them THAT morning). You eat them a lot and I eat instant all the time. I would love to stop eating instant and start eating steel cut oats!!!
1. buy Bobβs Red Mill steel cut oats from the store (or another brandβI have Arrowhead Farms right now)
2. the night before you want them, simmer 1/2 cup of the oats with 1 1/2 cups water on the stove with cinnamon, a pinch of salt and some vanilla for about 15-20 minutes or until the oats are very thick.
3. Let the oats cool in the pot for about 10 minutes then divide them in half with a spoon and put each half into separate tupperwares and put in the fridge.
4. The next morning, take out one tupperware and plop into a bowl. Add 1/4 cup milk and smash the oats with the back of a spoon so they combine with the milk. Stir for a second until its all combined.
5. Chop a med. banana and add to the oats/milk
6. Put in micro for 45 seconds. Stir. Micro again for 45 seconds
7. Stir in 1 tbsp peanut butter.

September 9, 2009 at 5:29 pmOh gosh Jenna, I feel like every time I sit to read your blog I find something so similiar about us! This time it’s the stuffed animals. The one on top of Mikan, I have that one! My older sister had it first, and I got one when I was younger as well. Love it. Also, I lived on Martha’s Vineyard for a time and went to the high school there the beginning of my freshman year there and spent a few summers there! Oh and I am doing the Esther study with my friends right now. We are on week 7. Crazy crazy! π You’re great!
