Behind The Butter

what i’m loving now

Where am I? What time is it? Why isn’t a fresh pot of coffee brewed and every flavor of Chobani greek yogurt available in the fridge?

I’m at a loss.

I don’t have a new recipe for you today because currently I don’t have any flour, butter, sugar, chocolate or even bread in my kitchen right now. I know..the horror! I got home from the East coast late last night and have a major grocery shop in store for this morning, along with picking up my furry beast from the pet hotel! I had fun with his cousins, but now it’s time for bonding once again. If he remembers who I am, that is.

So instead of my usual Thursday morning butter and sugar laden recipe, here’s a short list of what I’m loving now! Don’t judge.

1. my kindle.

I know I ranted and raved about how I would never EVER get one, but now that I have one I can’t imagine life without it.  It pretty much saved my life yesterday between my four hour layover and six hour flight back home, and so far, I’ve read a total of six books on it (since Christmas). Don’t hate.

2.  Baron Baptiste’s 40 Day Program

Remember when I hurt my shoulder? Well, I’ve let it rest for a month now and am excited to participate in my studio’s 40 day program! Basically, I’ll be doing yoga 6x a week for 40 days…a great way to start off the year and go deeper with my practice! The program kicks off this Saturday and I’ll keep you updated with how it (and my shoulder) goes.

3. skiing.

Okay so I’ve never actually tried to ski, but after my snowboarding incident (crying and yelling at Adam to leave me on the mountain) last month, I think I’m going to give it a shot. God help me.

4.  mint.

Mint in brownies, mint in oreos, mint in candy….mint!

5. flat shoes.

Especially when they’re mom’s…and especially when mom gives them to you! Oh, and because heels are overrated.

6. college football.

Because I watched so much of it last week I thought my brain would burst, because Ohio State won the Sugar Bowl, and because I miss my dad.

7. the pioneer woman’s pistachio cake

[photo courtesy of the pioneer woman]

Using packaged pudding sounds so dirty…and I like it.

8. proverbs.

because a little heavenly wisdom is always a good thing.

9. beef.

it’s what’s for dinner. And it’s darn tasty.

10. the simply breakfast blog

I’m kinda addicted to reading what Jen eats for breakfast every morning and I’ve gotten some great ideas for myself there, too!

I know the Nook is compatible with most libraries that have digital check outs and you can keep it around 14 days. (If you need longer don’t connect online to finish).

Not sure other differences between the two, but really wish the Kindle would offer this too.

    1) those shoes are a-dor-a-ble !!, 2) you’ve made me want a kindle, 3) take me skiing! .. if you can snowboard, you can totally ski. i am the most uncoordinated person ever (i run, but i don’t consider myself athletic) but for some reason i took to skiing on my first try. i mean, you have these large wooden strips to stay balanced on. snowboarding is wayyy harder & i will not dare attempt that 🙂

I learned to ski when I was 27 and I have some good advice for you. Take ski lessons! At least for a day. It is absolutely worth the money.
I took a week of group lessons and while the lesson itself was really hard, it made me learn how to ski much faster than I otherwise would. It also made it a lot less scary!
Everyone I know who learned to ski as an adult and took lessons now loves to ski, whereas I know several people who didn’t take lessons who HATE skiing. It makes a world of difference. 🙂
