Dessert

What Would We Do Without Dessert?

Just popped in some sugar cookie dough I bought yesterday at Whole Foods and ate two of them with a cup of hot cocoa I made with 6 ounces skim milk, 1 tsp organic cocoa powder and 1 splenda. Hit the spot! I was just going to have one of the cookies so my total dessert would be 150 calories…but they were just soo good, so hot and so tiny (!)  that I had another, bringing my dessert calories to 223. It was very worth it though and I like to eat smaller snacks during the day so I don’t feel guilty at night having a cookie and a cup of hot chocolate or a small slice of homemade cake or something. For me, having a treat at the end of everyday is worth it!

Tomorrow I’m having steel cut oats instead of my usual Scottish ones. I’m making them tonight with 1/2 cup skim and 2 ounces water and bringing them to a boil on the stove before taking them off an popping them in the fridge for the night to set. Tomorrow I’ll mix 1 tbsp peanut butter and a banana in them and reheat!

I love how there’s no guilt! I too had a sugar cookie and hot chocolate although I only ate half of one because they were huge! For the hot chocolate I used a nestle diet but I’d love to use actual cocoa powder instead. I’m trying my best to eat as natural and organic as possible! Where’d you purchase yours? and what’s the difference in taste?

    Danielle,

If you want to make good hot cocoa..not the fake stuff in the packet, you have to use real cocoa!!! It’s SO much better and much much much more natural this way. What I do is probably old fashioned but I really HATE the microwave so on the stove I bring 6 ounces of skim milk to a simmer in a small saucepan then add 1 tsp organic unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Organic Green & Black that I buy at whole foods) and 1 splenda. The total calories for this is only 83 and it tastes so much better. There’s really no difference in taste between organic vs non-organic..if i were to buy non-organic though I would buy dutch-process or european just because I think hershey’s tastes a little chalky. I like to use the best quality I can find. so throw away that diet nestle!! this is much better for you than those artificial things!
