Yoga For The Blues

Hi!

I hope everyone’s Tuesday has been going well. This morning after I posted I started to get kind of “meh”…feeling sad and down and wasn’t sure if I even wanted to go to yoga anymore because my mom said she wasn’t going and it was raining. However, Ryan gave me a quick pep talk and I decided that yoga has never ceased to make me feel better in the past and if I didn’t go I would just be sitting around here by myself, so I pulled myself together and went. Glad I did!! I feel a million times better after spending some time on my mat. The class was a flow class in a heated room and was HARD. I don’t get it. Sometimes this class is waaaaay too easy and other times it totally kicks my booty. Today was one of the butt kicking days. Thom, our instructor, led us in tons of forearm plank poses (ouch), dolphin poses (ouch again) and standing splits to half moon. I think every muscle on my body will be sore tomorrow and I feel much better after sweating everything out!

After yoga, I stopped by my parent’s house to say hi and then came back home to make lunch and shower. Rainy days just scream for yummy soup!

I had a cup of this with one of these yummy little wraps with Sabra’s hummus:

Perfect!

I have some articles to write this afternoon and then have my phone call at 4:00! Ryan is going to a baseball game tonight so I’m going to my parent’s house for dinner.

Have a wonderful afternoon!

    Hi Jenna!
I was wondering if you could guess the calorie range you take in everyday? ..It seems you are very active , and I am just trying to find my balance of maintance calories bc I lost 20 lbs. in the past year. thankyou!

      Kayla,

I honestly do not count calories at all so I really can’t tell you a number that I even shoot for. If I think about what I eat and drink everyday, it would seem natural that my intake is around 2,000 calories but that’s just a total guess. Some days I eat more and some days I eat less. I’m sorry I can’t give you a better answer but, again, every body is very different and has different needs. If I were to tell you that every single day I consume no more than 1,897 calories that would be very silly. You have to find out what works for your body and your body will let you know! If you are hungry, eat. If you are full, stop. We all have a natural range that we tend to stick to daily and I’m sure and RD could help you figure out better what your particular range might be!

      Christina,

I’ve tried almost them all! I’m a big Amy’s fan!

    hey Jenna,
I’m brand new to blogging, but I have been reading your blog for quite a while, and I just wanted to say that your attitude towards food is probably one of the healthiest that I have come across from reading many blogs. You eat what you want, when you want, and I just think that is so awesome! Also I wanted to say how awesome it is that you are doing team in training! I actually attended a meeting last night, because I am considering doing the nike women’s half, and it just seems like such an awesome program to be a part of. Anyway good luck with your training, and I look forward to reading more as you get closer to your event!

i LOVE your thoughts on not counting calories! Youre so right no one has the same body so it would be silly to worry how much so and so ate and compared to what I’m eating. Plus counting calories can be very inaccurate some times.

I hope you have a better day!! 🙂

      Miche98,

When my brother was killed three weeks ago I decided I couldn’t go another day doing something that didn’t make me happy. I quit so I could 100% pursue was passion of writing and feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

    Hey Jenna-
this is actually a question related to a previous post (hope that’s ok)- but where can I find the recipe for the blondies that you made recently? I went to the VeggieGirl website and dug around, and around, and around….until I almost went crazy trying to find the blondies that you made (I know there are numerous variations and I thought the ones you were snacking on just before you made your own batch, were the ones I’d like to try). Is there a direct link or could you point me in the right direction- they look so good I want to make them!!

    Thanks 😉

      Amy,

I posted the link to the basic recipe and then on my own, I just added in a handful of sliced almonds and a handful of coconut! I used the recipe from the link (I think it was for her peanut butter pretzel blondies) but I omitted the pretzels! Hope that helps!

Way to go for sticking with yoga today. I also always forget about how good it makes me feel afterward even though that post-yoga feeling is so fantastic. I always feel like I can do anything afterwards!

I love soup when it’s raining too… today i was at school so happy because of the cloudy rainy day and i was with my friends like “what a beautiful day!” and they were like… “what a gloomy depressing day!” i don’t get it, rainy days are the best! hehe well i had meatballs and zucchini soup for lunch today which was perfect but that lentil soup looks delicious! is it very spicy? i’ve never had curried lentils, but i guess a lot of the flavors in indian food are similar to the ones in mexican food?

    Hey Jenna,
Just curious, what do you do with the cup of soup you don’t eat? I never know what to do with it, so normally eat the whole can rather than waste it, but sometimes that’s too much!

    • jenna
      May 20, 2009 at 6:10 am

      Courtney,

I usually eat the whole can OR I just pour the rest of the can in tupperware and save it! It’ll save for up to about a week that way 🙂
