Here We Go Again

Happy Thursday!

Thank you all again for the lovely birthday wishes yesterday!! I wish I could have a big birthday party and invite each and every one of you….vegan cake and all. Wouldn’t that be fun?! Now its back to the grind though, after a fun and special day.

Last night at school was mainly spent in lecture, looking at different pictures/ideas for our modeling chocolate cake we are about to start. We did dabble in some pastillage at the end of the night, cutting out different shapes to get the feel for it, but that was the extent of the night. I did, however, get birthday presents! My friend Erin (formally known as “Chef Erin” on the blog) got me pastry flour, a pastry brush that I have been wanting, and a bar of my favorite dark chocolate. Thanks, Chef 😉

This morning I just did 20 minutes on the treadmill before coming home and having a bowl of FlaxPlus granola. I just get so bored on the treadmill. I can’t wait until the weather gets cooler in the fall and I can run outside again. Even at 7 am here, its still in the upper 80s and that would not only dehydrate me, but also give me a major headache for the rest of the day! So, for now, I think I’ll stick to the air conditioned gym. I had half a banana with pb of course before going out.

Lunch is easy….and delicious today! I packed the leftovers of my Lemon Scented Bulgur (formally quinoa) salad. I also packed a very ripe and shriveled peach to have for dessert, and a bag of cherries with some cashews for a snack later.

It’s gorgeous out right now but Jason (the weather guy) says we are having very strong storms with high winds later in the day. That’s pretty usual here right now. Every day at around 4:00 it pours like there’s no tomorrow. I kind of like it. 😉

Happy (belated) Birthday from me, too! I loved your Dexter cake, that was so sweet of your friend.
And about the flour and brush, aren’t useful gifts the best anyway?

Boohoo, I bought cherries this morning all excited to have them to snack on at work and when I wanted to wash them I noticed most of them under the first layer had gone bad =(

About the boredom on the treadmill – I feel your pain!

    Such lovely presents!!

I hate the treadmill, and refuse to ever use it – what’s the point of walking/running in place?? No fun, and not very effective, in my opinion.

Enjoy your Thursday!! Hope the weather holds up!!

HI Jenna – I love fresh peaches too and I am obsessed with them right now. I live in CA so they are plentiful, and delish! Do you have any great recipes for fresh peaches?

Quick question, Jenna– which do you find more filling, the FlaxPlus granola or Kashi Cinnamon Harvest cereal? Or are they about the same? I’m always on the lookout for new cereals, but find that many leave me hungry an hour later…and it sure is expensive to experiment when it comes to cereals. Anybody have any suggestions for satiating, tasty cold cereals?

tfh- try Nature’s Path granola/cereal, the peanut butter flavor. It’s SO GOOD and really filling with a banana and some soymilk.

    Hey Jenna!
I wanted to wish you a happy belated birthday because I didn’t get a chance to check your blog yesterday. It looks like you had a great birthday eve and day! I especially love the picture of Dexter checking out his cake portrait–classic!
    All the best,

PS-We are the same age now for 2 1/2 more months! I’ll be 24 at the end of August haha

tfh-I like Vector cereal. It’s the only cereal that I’ve ever eaten where I eat the serving size listed (1.25 cups for 215 calories) and I’m full for 3 hours. I’ll usually mix in some strawberries (or fresh fruit) and then it keeps me full for 4 hours!

i know what you mean about running outside. its so humid in Kentucky that I can’t run and breathe at the same time so i stick to the tredmill and elliptical in the summer! Just crank up the music or watch the today show!!

Treadmills TOTALLY bore me too – when I cannot run outside I can’t even run on them so I use other machines, hehe!
