Dinner/ Lunch

Insanity!!

Ahhhhh WHOLE FOODS!!!!!!

img_1245.JPG

It was INSANE. Total insanity. I got there at 8:45 thinking I was going to be the first one there, but I ended up getting thrown into a line of about 400 (seriously!!!). The line wrapped all around the shopping plaza and from where I was, I couldn’t even see the store. I was was freaking out! They had camera people there, news crews…the whole 9 yards. I was totally worried that the store would meet capacity and I wouldn’t get to go in and at that moment I regretted my decision to come because I hadn’t packed a lunch, I was relying on getting in and buying it!

But, alas, at around 9:15 I got into the store and was handed a huge recyclable shopping bag full of goodies!!! It must of been for the first couple hundred in or something. I was stoked. I have in my bag granola samples, clif bars, lip balm, shower gel, tons of different teas, crackers, cookies….totally worth the line!

The store was huge inside, of course, and totally blew me away but by the time I actually got in all I had time to do was grab my lunch and rush to work! The prepared foods section and salad bar spanned about 100 feet and was divided into countries for ethnic foods—they had five different kinds of hummus for crying out loud! amazing! I grabbed a couple different salads to try for lunch:

a cannellini bean and shrimp salad, tabbouli, texas caviar (black eyed peas), some asian salad with tofu and I tried their sweet potato hummus. It was all really yummy! Its going to kill me not to be able to go back until Friday but maybe by then the insanity will die down a bit. I want to roam the aisles for hours! and eat from the gelato bar!!!

Anyways, I had a hard time picking a snack from the snack bag today but settled on a couple of these peanut butter crackers that were thrown in there. Each cracker was 40 calories and really yummy. I also tried some organic black tea as well.

I totally don’t want to go to school tonight. It’s storming and my dad is on his way in town for business. I really just want to go out to dinner with him and call in sick! But…my wedding cake is due tomorrow since tomorrow is my last day of class so I think I have to go :(. Bummer! For dinner tonight I just made an Amy’s veggie burger on an ezekiel english muffin with ketchup and honey mustard and had a salad and grapes on the side, with a small glass of red wine.

It will be hard to choose which snack to bring to school tonight!! I’m not sure yet what I will choose to bring!

Hey, girl! I left my house a little late–my sis overselpt!–and I got there around 9:45-ish. It was NUTS! Total chaos!
First stop–the juice bar, where I got my yummy “Waldorf”! I swear I spent half my monthly income today, but it was worth it!
And I also had that asian tofu salad–“Soy of the Sea” it was called?–and it was sooooooo good!!

Hope you have as much fun as me when you go back this week!!

I am extremely jealous of your goody-bag. I’m typically more excited to open up those types of free goody-bag “give a ways”, than I am opening birthday or Christmas presents.

Wow – looks like the trip turned out better than you even expected! Goodie bags are sooo exciting, I would be having a complete ball looking through everything; I’m sure you are 😀

I’m moving at the end of the summer to a suburb of Chicago (Schaumburg) where there is a Whole Foods quite close… definitely an improvement from the several-hours distance to one in southern california from where I am right now (very northern california). you’ve gotten me really excited!

hang in there at school tonight!

Wowwww… I am surprised. I guess I should consider myself lucky living close two different Whole Foods and 3 Trader Joes up here. I remember being in a Whole Foods store in Daytona Beach or near Daytona and was really surprised that it was not like the Whole Foods up here. Then I thought it probably ws not the same type of store or something.

Anyway.. Glad you got a goody bag though. Have fun!
