LONGEST DAY EVER.
Was yesterday. Remember me hoping I would get to Atlanta in time so I couldn’t miss my connecting flight to San Francisco? Well that was a bust.
My flight was delayed coming out of Charleston and after SPRINTING through the Atlanta airport (backpack opened, contents spilled everywhere in the terminal all over the floor–me crying and calling my mom), I still missed my flight. I ended up catching a later flight to San Francisco which was only delayed further and finally got back around 10:15, which felt like 12:15 to me. You can only guess my exhaustion. However, all was made right when after walking off the plane and to baggage claim I ran right into the boyfriend, who had taken a bus all the way from Santa Rosa to surprise me and drive me home since at that point I was waaaay too exhausted to be behind the wheel and drive an hour. Whewwwwwwww
Thank goodness I packed a turkey sandwich from Christie’s house yesterday morning because there was zero food in the Charleston airport.

glad you made it home safe & sound. when traveling is good it’s soooo good, when it’s bad it’s such a nightmare. sorry your travels were the latter. rest up and ease back into your daily-ness.
and…when you gonna part with some juicy bf info?
Sorry to hear about your crazy flight story! Flying is always a headache. Don’t you be missing the 80 degree weather too much, Sonoma will have it before you know it and then it will just get hotter and hotter!
Nothing quite like seeing a friendly face after a grueling day of travel eh? Glad you got back safe!
YIKES! that is quite the day. so glad your sweet boyfriend came all the way up though…how cute is that? hope your thursday is MUCH better than your wednesday
All I saw was boyfriend. Lol. Guess I’m slow to catch on! Very sweet of him!
Wow. That was craziness!!!
So glad you made it home safely, and that you had such a nice Easter visit with your family and friends!!
Hugs,
Michele
Whew what a day! At least you made it and had some good eats! Enjoy being home!
Eek about missing your flight, that’s like my worst nightmare! Congrats on coping, I’d have been in floods
I felt like I saw a celebrity when I spotted Mr. Boyfriend at the airport!!
On the bright side, at least your flight wasn’t cancelled and you made it home! And you had your boyfriend to cheer you up! Airports can be no fun
I hate the Atlanta airport for the delays. But glad you made it home.
And how sweet that your Boyfriend came to pick you up. So nice of him.
My hubby a similar airport day yesterday! Glad you made it home.
all the food looks great.
i totally admire u for writing.
i have some ideas…but i waste all my time, and my mind is too “fritzed” to concentrate…i am a basket case now cause i am looking for a job and a place to live in panic…looks like any writing dreams are going to have to be held off for a long long while…too stressed to think on it!
if the inspiration and joy are sucked out of it, i cannot do it anyway. kudos to u for finding a calm mind to do what u do.
Oh no! Missing a flight is so stressful- I’m glad it all worked out! I had a similar spring through ATL- I jumped on the plane just as they were shutting the door. I made it, but my luggage definitely didn’t
whew! whatta full day of traveling?!
and btw whose the bf?
I told you short connections were a recipe for disaster! Ugh. Glad the airport food was accomodating…there’s usually not much option or way over-priced!

Glad you’re back safely!
That totally stinks that you missed your flight but SO sweet of your boyfriend to give you a ride!
ATL is the worst, and DC. Despise those airports. It must feel great to be back though and with a lovely surprise!
Phew, looks like it was a rough day! At least you’re home now.
What a nice bf! Must have been a good end to a crappy day at least
Glad ya got home safe! What a great guy:)
Glad you made it home- airports are the worst!
xo
K
I love traveling, but hate the actual waiting-around-in-airport part. At least breakfast looks fab!
Glad you arrived home safely!
The boyfriend sounds like a keeper! How sweet.
Bleugh!! What an awful travel day. I kind of hate flying a lot. I love it in theory (since it means you’re travelling! Duh!) but I could name a fair few things I’d rather be doing than trying to sleep on a plane/make connections.
Bet you were overjoyed to see the boyfriend!
every time i fly through atlanta i am delayed – i’ve started trying to go through charlotte now instead, its MUCH easier!
glad you made it back safely!
That’s the best oat combo in the world!
And yay for the sweet boyfriend! Not many guys would do that!!
Yikes, talk about an exhausting day! At least you had a nice guy to pick you up. Also, I noticed he’s no longer cute boy but is not the boyfriend. Very exciting tidbit there.
What a sweetie to pick you up like that!! Glad you made it home safe & sound
Sorry about your flight but I’m glad that your boyfriend made things better for you! Traveling is the worst!
Awww, what a nice guy!!
I love how he went from a cute boy to boyfriend! Yippee! Glad you made it home safely.
Sorry you had such a crappie flight (those are the worst traveling experiences!) But that is so sweet your boyfriend to come pick you up! Your salad looks amazing btw!
YUM – amazing airport food, Jenna!
I´m glad you arrived safely
Have a great day!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
oh man i hate the atlanta airport too. many bad experiences. booo. and so much smoking there. gross. haha.
glad you were cheered up at least after it was over.
Sorry your travels were not all they cracked up to be…penance for the lovely weekend you had, I suppose. Good thing you have such a nice boyfie to meet you at the airport, that must have been a welcome surprise!!
boyfriend info asap please!! haha
Delayed flights suck almost as much as airport food! Hopefully you didn’t miss too much while you were gone and can get back into the swing of things fairly easy with your training
Ooooh did you say boyfriend? And not “cute guy” or “friend that is a guy?” Ooohlala!
Glad you finally made it home safely, and glad that he was able to make you smile at the end of a long trip!
glad you had a sweet boy there waiting to sweep you off your feet! i’m sure your mood totally flipped around
glad you made ie home safely!
Like everyone else, I want to know about the BF!!
The Atlanta airport is the worst!! I’ve been stuck there many times. So glad you eventually got home.
Best boyfriend ever award.
eeck what a crazy stressful day. I love traveling, but more so the ‘being there’ part than the actually ‘getting there’ mess. Did you ever see the TV show ‘Savannah’? I watched it when I was a kid on the WB and since then I’ve always had such an interest in that part of the country and want to visit. Your pictures over the last few days only enhanced that want! Hope the weather warms up!
Wait, boyfriend? I’m behind the times. That’s very sweet though.
I remember picking up my hubby (we were living separate – cross country for 2 years) for one trip. I lived in DC, and he flew into Baltimore (about 45min -1 hr drive) late at night. It was very foggy that night. I had had a previous really scary driving-in-the-fog experience, so I was…tense.
And there I was, 10:30 pm, waiting outside the terminal with a bunch of other schmoes, when the announcement came on: “Those of you waiting for Continental flight XXX from LAX, because of fog that flight was re-routed to National. We will be bussing the passengers here.”
I live a mile from National. Hmmm…he wouldn’t get on the bus, would he? So, this being pre-cell phones, a half an hour of me calling my best friend Lloyd, and him thinking to call my best friend Lloyd, and then said best friend calling me back on the white courtesy phone, we all figured out that no, he wasn’t going to get on the bus.
45 mins later I was picking him up at National…ah, the memories.
your boy sounds like a keeper!
Awww, he sounds like a keeper! Doesn’t he want to come out of hiding yet?
The Atlanta airport is not my friend, either. After getting stuck there for TEN hours on my way to San Francisco, I’d be okay never seeing it again. (Unfortunately, I have a layover there at the end of the month, so I hope the Atlanta airport isn’t listening!) Glad you finally made it home – and to a sweet bf, no less.
Traveling is hard enough, but when there are unforeseen circumstances, it can be a nightmare!!! Oh well, at least you are home safe and sound. Sounds like you have a great b-friend, hold onto that one.
Glad to hear you made it home safe and sound. Flight switching is the worst
Ugh Jenna! what a day! and the backpack part……..BLAST! I always get so antsy on flights, I can’t sit still like that. Yeah for Boyfriend for helping though!
Atlanta is always a mess! But it’s good that you didn’t have to drive back yourself!
Whew, I can totally commiserate with you on the whole spending too much time in airports/planes thing, but at least you’re home now.
I think airport food has improved 120% in the last 6 yrs. I’m glad you made it safely, that does sound like a long day!
im so sorry about your day! but im glad you made home safe and had a wonderful trip!
p.s. im sorry i reallu don’t mean to sound nosy but i was just curious if your boyfriend was gonna move home with you or be going to Paris with you? =)
I’m sorry that you had such a long and hard day yesterday!
But lucky that your boyfriend was there to cheer you up! Hope today was much better for you!
uh it seems like air travel only causes headaches~ i thought it was supposed to be easier- glad youre back and a little rested
Poor you. That bit where your backpack split open reminded me of once when I was trying to get a connection to Delhi. Nightmare!
Glad you are home safe. Take it easy
I’m sure this isn’t a surprise, but the only thing in that post I saw was the word “boyfriend.” lol.
Glad you’re back in Cali.
Awww, what a great boyfriend!
I love to travel as in trips, but hate the actual traveling part. Flight delyas and cancellations can be so stressful. Glad you made it back ok!
Glad you made it back! What a nightmare
hate that. Now about the boyfriend thing…
oh no – what an adventure! Big ‘tick’ to the bf for picking you up – what a nice surprise!!
hehe, you are doing such a good job of keeping the man a secret! glad you made it home! cant wait to read about the next exciting adventure!
I see he has moved from “cute boy” to “boyfriend”….NICE!!
What a sweet boyfriend to rescue you from a long and exhausting drive! Sorry to hear your travels were such a headache though. I love traveling in that I love exploring new areas, however, the chore of air travel makes my head want to explode.
Glad you made it back and survived well kinda.:)
You can’t just drop the bf word and not give us any details!
Welcome back.
Traveling can be so exhausting! Hooray for such an unexpected surprise!
Must be a trend! I missed my flight to Raleigh, NC out of ATL on friday….same as you…sprinting to my terminal only to find the door shut. I actully started knocking on it- haha, like that would help. One guy came up to me and suggested I order a beer and drink it quickly
Glad you made it!
Girl, I was traveling yesterday and experienced the same or similar nightmares!! Sooo good to be home!
That is my size-serving of hummus! looks so good/fresh!
Katherine
You TOTALLY do NOT have to answer this personal question, but I just have to ask….how long have you been dating the boyfriend for?
I feel like I am reading a great novel and missed a few chapters somehow….but as the lead role in this novel you have absolutley no obligaton to reveal anything…..but I can tell may readers grinned with surprise at that magical word!
Anywasy Jenna you deserve all the happiness in the worl, and to be honest that boyfriend that we are all surprised to read about is one super lucky, lucky guy to have met an absolute amazing catch of a woman that you are…
let’s all raise a glass of vino to the wonderful Jenna-cheers!!!
look out Paris..part 2,that is!!
PS None of my beeswax whatsoever, but I will squeal with glee if in the novel the bf turns out to be an awfully handsome young man with initial AB …hee hee! Fingers crossed!!
boyfriend???? yay!!!
“I will squeal with glee if in the novel the bf turns out to be an awfully handsome young man with initial AB…”
Almond Butter? :-p
Glad you finally made it home! Your oats are giving me a serious craving. I think I know what I’ll be having for breakfast in the morning:)
I actually avoid the Atlanta airport if possible because of the crazy number of times I’ve had the exact same thing happen- sprint to make a connection only to find the door closed.
I also find it’s huge and hard to navigate and the employees are so un-helpful.
Glad you made it home!
Boyfriend?! Yay! Pictures anytime soon?!
Haha!! I don’t feel so out of the loop now
I read your post and thought.. boyfriend??!! Then read a few comments which pretty much said the same thing!
I feel like these blogs can be like little sitcoms sometimes… enter… Jenna’s new bf!!
I am happy for you and glad that he was nice enough to pick you up.
Get some rest, eat some good food and you will feel like a new woman tomorrow!
night!
Look on the brightside: at least you were in the airport during your delay.. I was stuck on the runway for 2 hours one time!!! Congrats on the official bf!
Aww such a great BF, he definitely won loads of brownie points with that move
Awwww your bf came to meet you, so romantic!!! Sorry to hear that you had such a disastrous flight.
Where is that place in the Atlanta airport? All I ever see there is Burger King and other places that I don’t want!
What a great guy! I’m stuck @ home dogsitting while my BF is off to Hilton Head – TWICE in three weeks!
Trust me, flying around thunderstorms is WAY better than the alternative. I’d rather have a delay any day – even though it IS a pain… We were delayed in Frankfurt, Germany due to mechanical problems, and would’ve missed our connecting flight in DC if it hadn’t also been delayed – I was a little crabby going through customs trying to make sure that we made the flight (only to find out that it wasn’t even there yet!).
