Happy Humpday!
I’m getting ready for a super long day of traveling. Its not so bad traveling from west to east but going back west is always a backbreaker because of the time change. Ugh. I didn’t really sleep well last night so I’m hoping to catch some zzz’s on the plane (even though typically I cannot fall asleep on airplanes!).
Last night I threw together a really quick and simple dinner at the house. Spinach salad with broccoli, blueberries and Annie’s raspberry vinegarette:
And whole wheat pasta with Amy’s sauce, a can of tuna and hot pepper flakes. It actually works!
After dinner Christie and I saw The Last Song!!!! Don’t be hatin’ on poor Miley. The movie was actually super cute and we sobbed our eyes out. I liked Dear John more but this was a perfect girly movie to see with your best friend. I snacked on a larabar during the movie.
This morning I woke up, had a piece of wheat bread with pumpkin butter and then ran a quick 2 miles down King Street and back. I heart King Street SO much…tried to soak it all up before heading 3,000 miles away. Breakfast was oatmeal made with water, 2 egg whites, half a banana, blueberries and almond butter:
I’m gathering all my stuff and heading out the door. I have a super short connection in Atlanta so keep your fingers crossed that I make my flight! Eeek!

Have a safe trip Jenna! And I love the idea of mixing a can of tuna into wheat pasta and sauce.. I’m going to have to try it!
hope you have a fun and safe trip! i’m a little scared to try tuna with marinara, but i bet it tastes great with the hot pepper flakes!
Have a safe flight!!! Yucky time change… I would hate that! But you’ll be back to the South before you know it!
Travel safe!
When my husband and I first met, he wanted to cook for me and he can not cook at all. At the time I was a pescatarian so he googled what to cook for me and make me tuna with marinara!
Time changes are the worst. Have safe travels!
Hmmm, oats.
Have a safe trip!
Have a safe flight. Hope you catch some zzz’s!
Have a safe trip home Jenna!
Have a safe flight!
Hope you get plenty of rest on the plane! Safe travels!
Have a good trip!!
Have a safe trip! At least when you get home, it will still be relatively early, right?
I hope you have a safe trip!
that salad looks great. I love berries in salads.
I’ve been having a similar salad most nights. Just feels springy to me.
Hope you travel well.
have a safe and quick flight home! with all made connections!
have a safe trip!!
YUUUM – only delicious eats!
Blueberries in a salad? Deliciouness
Have a great trip, Jenna!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
East/west is always harder than west/east. Flying back to the UK from Aus is always far more exhausting (although it might be because I’m less excited!).
Take care and have a good trip
Safe travels Jenna! You will be back before you know it!
I always forget about putting fruit on salad and it’s really tasty! Have you tried the Kraft Light Raspberry Vinaigrette? It’s low in calories and really yummy!
Canned tuna in pasta? I’ll have to try that. Sounds like an economical way to incorporate more protein in the carb-saturated dish.
Have a safe, pleasant trip!
have a safe trip!
have a wonderful trip!
hahah that movie dos not look good but I guess you can’t judge a…movie…by it’s…trailer?
Have a safe trip, hope you get some sleep on the plane!
Love your blog Jenna!
Good call on the whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce and tuna! Definitely will try that.
Hope you have a great trip!

i know what you mean about the time adjustment… i used to live in los angeles and traveling between there and virginia gave me the worst jet lag!
I love me some Miley Cirus – I’m not ashamed to say that “Party in the U.S.A” is on all of my running playlists
Blueberries! Can’t wait till they are in-season in the Northeast.
Have a safe trip to the west coast!
looks good as always!
Have a safe trip!! I hope you have a good time
Enjoy your travel day — I spent 36 hours yesterday traveling from New Zealand back home to DC, so I can definitely relate. It’s a killer but always fun heading home.
*fingers crossed* Have a safe flight!
I’m glad you had a good visit down south, good luck traveling!
Ooohh – short connections always = missed flights for me:( – bad stories…good luck
Pasta looks delish!
I’m doing a giveaway if anyone wishes to enter by the way.
I really enjoy tuna in pasta with red sauce… Miley Cyrus though? Not so much…

Happy travels home!! The pasta/tuna/sauce thing actually sounds really good. I haven’t eaten tuna in so long since my husband claims it smells like cat food and gags whenever I have it…charmer!
Ew, that tuna pasta thing sounds yuck! But that’s just ’cause I despise tuna.
I agree about The Last Song. I didn’t want to see it because of Miley but I ended up loving it! Dear John was better but Miley did a pretty good job.
Yummy pasta! I love spaghetti with tuna ! The spinach salad looked very good too!
Jenna, do you ever get bored with eating so healthy ? I sure do. That is why one week I’ll eat super healthy and then the next its junk food galore. I get bored with foods very easily……sigh !
Teresa,
hahahahaha I really don’t feel like I DO eat so healthy all the time! While “junk food” has never really been my thing, I do love Haribo gummy bears, red wine, chocolate, falaful and chick fila waffle fries….hehehe
Good luck with the transfer, safe travels!
Aww, I’m glad The Last Song was good – I feel bad for Miley, she gets ragged on way too much. I mean she’s only, what? 17? Anyway, that salad is beauuutiful! Good luck with your travels and getting some sleep!
I have to disagree about the time change – I think going from west to east is MUCH harder! (I do it a lot living in NYC with both my parents and husbands’ parents on the West Coast.) When I’m heading west, it’s always easy to fall asleep that night because I’m so tired. However, once I’m adjusted to West Coast Time, it’s SO hard to go back east because it is impossible to fall asleep at a reasonable time! Anyone else agree?
Have a safe flight and hope everything goes well. At least you are also heading back to a beautiful city.
Hi Jenna – I thought you might enjoy this article on food blogging from yesterday’s NYT: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/07/dining/07camera.html?ref=dining
Safe travels!
Safe travels my dear!
Oh man, I LOVE Amy’s sauce, pricey but so worth it!
Have a great trip!
i always felt going east was harder because you “lose” hours instead of gaining three
Have a safe flight!
I know the time change thing too well. From Kentucky to Japan is a 13 hour difference during Daylight Saving Time, so going home in August should be very interesting.
I hope your flight goes well and that you adjust to the time change quickly!
Oats mixed with egg whites, really?!?!?! Hmmm I’ll have to give this a try!! Hope you have a great trip!
-emily
have a good trip! i need to try egg whites in my oatmeal.
The last song was an amazing movie, and i love love love miley! lol. I think just about every girl cried. Your oats look yummy, blueberries make food just look great=)

Good Luck Jenna!!!
Hope your trip isnt too draining but you are right about the trip from east to west being harder.
I am going to San Fran in June for business and I cant wait!!
Hi Jenna,
just curious…I am the one who won that “cycling floral hat” and I’m having mail trouble and since it hasn’t arrived I was wondering if it my address that is the problem or maybe you didn’t mail it yet. Just curious!
Thanks!
Amanda
Hopefully your trip hasn’t been too terrible!
all the disposable bowls; I’ve seen that pattern before! Atl airport wouldn’t take so long to connect if it weren’t for the confused out-of-towners trying to get around. If you know where to go, you’ll be fine!
