I’ve had Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” stuck in my head ALL DAY! 🙂
Hi!
Yoga was great this morn’…lots of deeeeeeeeep hip openers and breathes. Before I left, I snacked on a kiwi + raw almonds
Lunch was SO good! My last wild alaskan salmon burger (Whole Foods brand) wrapped up in an Ezekiel wrap with a lil hummus, hot sauce and greens with carrots and another kiwi on the side.
Have y’all noticed yet that the classic Jenna combo is hummus and hot sauce??! It goes on ANYTHING, I swear! I think the strangest thing I have ever put hot sauce on was chocolate. And it worked. Oh yes it did. What’s your favorite condiment? Do you have an obsession like me with hot sauce??! I say the spicier the better….I like things so spicy it makes your eyes water—that’s when you know you’ve got it good! 😉
Emails to catch up on, calls to make, trips to plan……I’ll be back!

September 9, 2009 at 3:06 pmJENNA,
I looooove hot sauce.WHAT BRAND OF HOT SAUCE DO YOU RECOMMEND/USE?????
I like hot sauce on my Amy’s cheese burritos’s(with plain yogurt on the side-yum!)
I like hot sauce on pretty much anything to be honest, and also like it super spicy.
Another question, do you find it to bother you in an IBS kinda way?It doesn’t bother me, but I hear spicy stuff can be a trigger.
Hot sauce is yummy on baked or boiled potatoes-mmmm.
Yummy with veggies, beans and brown rice with hot sauce and tamari(and plain yogurt on side!)

September 9, 2009 at 3:10 pmMarla,
I love texas pete but lately have been getting into crystal. I don’t find it to be an IBS trigger at all…..I’ve sort of grown out of my IBS. it was bad in high school but I don’t struggle with it all anymore really.

September 9, 2009 at 3:12 pmI think you and my husband must have met before – he is also a hot sauce on everything person!! I am most definitely NOT! WF has salmon burgers? I need to look more carefully – which section were they in?

September 9, 2009 at 3:14 pmHi Jenna
I was wondering what type of hot sauce do you use and hummus brand? The brand I been getting Athenos is starting to ANNOY me the flavor is not that good. My condiment is cinnamon I almost put it on anything and put lots of it.
Have a great day 🙂

September 9, 2009 at 3:19 pmI love putting rooster sauce (sriracha) on eggs. My husband thinks it is gross but i love it!
Marla
September 9, 2009 at 3:19 pmThanks for the super quick reply!
I just googled Crystal and also Texas Pete’s hot sauce, and how funny under Wikipedia they are both described as “mild” hot sauces!!’Are you surprised by that fellow super spicy lover?!
PS A while back I tried hot sauce and hummus on salad-DELISH!
My new fave salad topper thanks to you Ms Cordon Bleu!!! 🙂
Marla
September 9, 2009 at 3:20 pmPS Do you prefer hot sauce to sriracha ,speaking of?Thanks Jenna!

September 9, 2009 at 3:22 pmI love love love hot sauce too. And I thought I had put in on everything, but you’ve made me realize I’ve yet to try in on chocolate… Although I’ve got to admit that I prefer wasabi or just chopping up hot peppers (recently my farmer’s market has the best hot hungarian wax peppers) and throwing them in my food. As I write this comment my nose is dripping from the hung. pepper minced into my salad. And I’m LOVING it!
Elsa
September 9, 2009 at 3:29 pmI love hot sauce! I agree, it seriously goes great on everything!

September 9, 2009 at 3:33 pmYum! Hot sauce on everything! I’m slightly obsessed with hummus and honey mustard too (although I’m not sure how they’d taste together)

Maria
September 9, 2009 at 3:34 pmI’m a big fan of ketchup on everything 🙂 But I am a fan of spicier condiments like hot sauce too–especially with hummus!

September 9, 2009 at 3:40 pmHi Jenna
I don’t think your chocolate and hot sauce is strange at all. Have you ever had, or heard of, chicken mole (accent on the “e”..don’t worry it’s not the animal)? It’s a mexican dish that is also known as chocolate chicken. It has different spices, chilies, and mexican chocolate in it. Very tasty, some places make it better than others. 🙂
Susan
September 9, 2009 at 3:42 pmIt’s not really a “condiment,” but I put cinnamon in everything. Even savoury dishes!! It makes everything taste better 🙂
Julia
September 9, 2009 at 3:44 pmI like hot sauce, but don’t put in on everything;)
Have never tried it on hummus…now that’s a original combination. I will try it!

September 9, 2009 at 3:55 pmI love hummus on EVERYTHING! I’m also with you on the hummus+hot sauce. My favorite is Trader Joe’s spicy hummus…you would love it. Best of both worlds. I haven’t been using salad dressings at all lately, just hummus!
Liz
September 9, 2009 at 3:56 pm1) I absolutely love your blog!
2) I had to laugh at “Man in the Mirror” being stuck in your head because last month that song was stuck in my head for literally a week. And I only know the part of the chorus that is the title, so it got old fast. Haha.
3) I don’t know why I numbered this. It just makes it look organized, I guess 🙂
Kristin
September 9, 2009 at 3:56 pmFave combo ever- Hummus and Siracha. It’s seriously delicious- I think the garlic flavors compliment each other well.
Leianna
September 9, 2009 at 4:00 pmMine is BBQ sauce, but hot sauce is a close second, may ahve to try your combo!
Hot sauce on chocolate, wow you are daring!
Morgan (lifeafterbagels)

Lisa
September 9, 2009 at 4:03 pmI used to put ketchup on everything, but then I switched to salsa (Salsa Authentica from TJ’s to be exact). Oh, and almond butter/peanut butter is amazing on just about anything too.
Janine
September 9, 2009 at 4:11 pmI put Frank’s buffalo sauce on my salads, chicken, sandwiches…you name it. Buffalo sauce goes with anything! Yum!
Choc. and hot sauce? Hmmm…..I’m pretty adventurous, but I think I will pass on that! haha

September 9, 2009 at 4:16 pmi love hot sauce too, but my favorite condiment is probably jam. ironically, i don’t use it that often, but it’s so sweet when i do. 🙂

Deva (Voracious Vorilee)
September 9, 2009 at 4:24 pmI love spicy that makes your mouth burn and your nose run – so good! Spicy chocolate is sooo good – my mum once made a chocolate cake with chile in it that was chocolatey and spicy and sweet and delicious – one of my favorite combos!
Jessica
September 9, 2009 at 4:24 pmI’m totally with ya!! This is why my blog name issss jess likes it HOT! 🙂
Plus, hot sauce and hummus in an amazing combination. I just had a hummus/tofurkey/spinach sandwich and would BET that hot sauce could have been an amazing addition!
Kat (kats daily plate)
September 9, 2009 at 4:27 pmI also looove hot sauce + humus, but my favorite combo, especially on mexican food is hot sauce + yogurt. Yuuuum! Creamy, spicy, and healthy!

September 9, 2009 at 4:44 pmChocoalte and spice – mmmmm … a perfect world! My favourite chocolate bar (and the only one I eat) is Lindt Excellend Chili Bar. Just the right amount of spice!

Amanda @ Cakes and Ale
September 9, 2009 at 4:55 pmHot sauce and chocolate is a great combo! I love Mexican hot chocolate, which uses chili powder… I’ve even had chocolate-chili ice cream before! Then there’s mole, which combines peppers and cocoa and oh my… so good.
Catie
September 9, 2009 at 4:55 pmI looooooove hot sauce! I put it on absolutely everything; any kind of sandwich, eggs, salad, tuna, burgers,, chicken, grilled veggies, all Mexican delights, couscous, etc. My favorite is Frank’s Red Hot (my roommate and I go through a bottle a month, not kidding) but I also get down with some Texas Pete. Also, Sabra garlic hummus pretty much goes on anything in my opinion and its even better when mixed with hot sauce. Of course.
Jenna
September 9, 2009 at 5:02 pmI am the condiment QUEEN. I can’t go one meal without having a dipping sauce of at least one type.
My favorite condiment is probably ketchup. But other condiments I love: mayo, mustard, hot sauce, bbq sauce, honey mustard, salsa, sour cream… I don’t know if you would count these as condiments, but I do… guac and hummus!
Of course you have the sweet condiments too: NUT BUTTER, honey, caramel, chocolate sauce, strawberry/raspberry sauce, whipped cream… I’ll stop there 🙂
Stephanie
September 9, 2009 at 5:07 pmFRANK’S HOT SAUCE… haven’t had it on chocolate however? They do make chili-spiced chocolate so I guess it could be good!
Shelly
September 9, 2009 at 5:09 pmJenna,
If you love sriracha, I have a great recipe for you- homemade sriracha!. My friends tried it out and said it was really easy to make- and they gave me some, so I can vouch for its deliciousness. Here’s the link:

September 9, 2009 at 5:11 pmMy idea of hot sauce is “extra mild” please! My husband and I are BOTH hot sauce wimps! My main difficulty with it is that it overpowers EVERYTHING…what else can you taste if the sauce is so hot it burns your mouth???!!! 🙂 I like to taste my food!
lora
September 9, 2009 at 5:20 pmhot sauce, salsa, bbq, hummus, ketchup! i love it all! I think they should invent something that combines all of these lovely condiments!
sheri
September 9, 2009 at 5:30 pmI would have to say hummus and hot sauce are my obsession right now too! I am totally in love with Sabra Hummus! Also my huband orders this totally unbelievable hot sauce that we use almost like salsa…we go through it like crazy! But it is so good!
Cara
September 9, 2009 at 5:45 pmYes! I put Sriracha on everything! Eggs, salads, pasta, you name it! I’ve mixed red pepper flakes with hummus before, but never tried hot sauce!
I see BBQ sauce mentioned up there; this sounds strange, but BBQ sauce on scrambled eggs and veggies is the best!
Thanks for the tip!
Shelly
September 9, 2009 at 5:50 pmCara, I agree with you a/b bbq sauce on veggies. I love a little bbq sauce on collard or mustard greens. I also like bbq sauce on baked salmon.

September 9, 2009 at 6:00 pmHummus and hot sauce eh? I’m liking what I’m hearing! I used to use hot sauce a lot more… I have no idea why I stopped! I think I need to find a new fav kind and bring it back into my life!
My condiment obsession is probably mustard. Mustard of every kind. I put it on a LOT of stuff.
Tracy
September 9, 2009 at 6:13 pmI’m absolutely with you on the hummus and hot sauce. The HOTTER the better! And you’re right, hot sauce makes a great salad dressing, too! Sometimes I do switch up the hummus for guacamole…yum!

September 9, 2009 at 7:02 pmi’ve been on a huge mustard kick lately. i have six different kinds in my fridge right now and that’s because i just emptied 2 bottles. not even joking. yellow, dijon, whole grain, spicy brown, honey mustard, horseradish mustard, cranberry mustard, etc. they all add some zest and zip, ya know? also goes really well with hummus.

September 9, 2009 at 8:50 pmI’m right there with you on the hot sauce obsession! I have a ton in my pantry as we speak – Trader Joe’s, Texas Pete, Tabasco, Tabasco with Garlic, Tabasco Habanero, Sriracha, Chulula….I could keep going!
Jenn
September 9, 2009 at 9:06 pmI’ve never tried hot sauce until YOU! Thanks for the tip:) What is your favorite brand? Oh, and speaking of replies…I noticed on another blog that the person commenting could also click a button to receive a reply if the blogger replied. Ever think of putting that option on your comment section? You should! Thanks, Jenna…and being single until you’re ready is soooo COOL!

September 9, 2009 at 9:37 pmI am obsessed with EVERY sort of condiment (except mayo… can’t take it – blech!)
I especially love maple syrup 🙂

September 9, 2009 at 10:37 pmfrank’s red hot! i love it on almost everything. but i think it’s at its most awesome on veggie pizza, amy’s mac and cheese, and taco salad.

September 10, 2009 at 10:42 amI think I’m as big of a hot sauce fan as I am a ketchup fan. Since I’m the only one who uses hot sauce in my house (the hubby won’t go near it), it gets a little frightening to see how much I actually go through!
Scott
September 11, 2009 at 11:15 amHot sauce on chocolate, interesting! I do love spicy chocolates, chocolate truffles with cayenne are my favorite. Lindt also makes a cherry and chili dark chocolate bar which is fantastic! I have found that the bars that I buy in Switzerland are spicier than the bars that I’ve bought here in the states.
Now I’m going to have to try some hot sauce on chocolate, what hot sauce do you like to use?
