Happy Humpday!
I’ve got a busy day planned, starting with a bike ride at 10. It’s gorgeous out and I’m finally getting in that long ride!
I had my first “real” bowl of oatmeal in many moons.

I’m calling this “real” oatmeal because I finally restocked my old fashioned oats. I had been using quick oats for the past month or so and it’s just not the same! I need that chew. This bowl contained 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup soymilk, 1/2 cup water, 1 banana, cinnamon, sea salt, pb and bonne maman. After seeing Court’s bowl yesterday with that beautiful jam I knew I needed it!
Coffeeeeeeeeee!

I couldn’t go a month without real oatmeal – two or three days and I’m craving it like mad!!
I wish I could help with headphones but I’m clueless with that stuff…I actually need some more myself!
I certainly couldn’t got a year without headphones! I use these

and they are awesome!
yumyum. the jam looks divine!
i’m so looking forward to your book!
see you in charleston soon!
Love PB&J oatmeal, so good, especially paired with coffee!
Mmmmmmmmmm. Bonne Maman, my lover. Can’t get enough. Just bought the Chestnut Cream with Vanilla the other day. Don’t know if they sell it in the states but if you find it….BUY IT! So delish. YUM!
Have a great day, dear!
hey the french have proven than caffeine and wine are good for you! fight alzheimers! stop heart disease!
soon they will be telling me cigarettes cure cancer and i will be the happiest girl in the world

the paris food blague
“whatever gets the writing done”–so true. cookie dough helps occasionally as well!;)
I think coffee and wine are plenty healthy and totally appropes!
I like headphones with the loop around the ear b/c buds always fall out of my awkward ears.
skullcandy headphones!! they come with three different size ear thingies… not too $$$, sound great and long lasting…
Mmm, I had almond butter and jelly oats today too! So satisfying and FUN. Enjoy your bike ride…and get some new headphones!
I would like to hear some headphone rec’s too – the earbuds are too big for my ears, and they other ones all break!
ha ha. I have a pair of broken ones in my desk drawer at work where only 1 ear works…sometimes desperate times call though! I’ve bought some ear buds at Target for about $10…I think they even have the Ipod brand there? And lots of fun colors!
I saw awesome headphone things on “The Early Show” on CBS this morning! You attach it to your helmet instead of covering your ears! Much safer! Check it out!
Can’t wait to see you post “DONE”! or at least 50,000! Hope to see it tonight or at least in the morning! Maybe your good oats will do the trick!

Those are the best ever! I have my tragus pierced so the dumb iPod ear buds never stayed in my ears, but these come with different sized cushions to make it smaller or larger. I love them, the cancel out all sounds and don’t go anywhere during a run.
I still use my Apple buds that came with my iPod. Those have ended up holding up the best and being the most comfortable.
PB&J oats = love. Defintely a great way to start your day!
I’ve heard (because I have the same headphone problem) that the issue may actually be with your iPod. I tried buying new headphones and the sound still only came out of one ear. Apparently there is a way to fix something on your iPod, but I just wanted to warn you in case this means you’ll need to be doing a little more troubleshooting than you expected — and before you buy fancy new headphones!
I have to laugh that you’ve been using broken earphones for that long . . . I can be really behind on certain errands too!
I would suggest getting Skull Candy earphones! They fit in your ear (dont fall out like most do) and they come in super cool designs!! Here’s the site http://www.skullcandy.com/!!
i’ve been using the same apple headphones that came with my ipod, and they get the job done, but sometimes they fall out of my ears! i think the in-ear buds and around-the-ear headphones would work best. good luck!
I got a new pair of headphones for Christmas actually, my husband did tons of research and found Seinhesser PMX70′s. I wasn’t so sure because I am so used to iPod headphones but they stay in SO well, I never worry about them falling out and the sound is great. I really like them.
I have some cheapy Phillips brand ones from Target that have held up for a long time and stay in place when I run. They’re the over the ear kind.
Yum, those oats look awesome! I agree, the chew is an essential part of oats experience.
I commend you for being able to run with broken headphones, that’s the sort of thing that frustrates me to no end while working out. I’ve found that any kind that wraps around the ear is pretty reliable for exercise.
Enjoy your ride and the weather!
I hate the apple ibuds…on more than one occassion I’ve been shocked in my ear from them! on multiple pairs!!
I third the recommendation for Skull Candy earphones. They are the best I’ve ever had. They create a really good seal so that they don’t move around or fall out during exercise, and that also cuts out the external noise when I’m doing things like commuting. AWESOME. Highly recommended.

I love PB and Jam in my oats! Do you drink your coffee black?! You are hardcore!!!
Sea salt! How interesting! I used to love my oatmeal with only butter and salt. Nothing sweet at all!
I havent had “real” oatmeal since I was a kid. I need to give it a try again. Mmm.
I’m craving a nice big bowl of oats. I never have time to make them during the week so I only get to have them on the weekends. I have 2 more days to go!
Real oatmeal…nothin like it!
Caffeine + wine = great adventures! I know the next three weeks will be awesome. Sometimes you do what you gotta do, no?
The Bose in-ear headphones are amazing. They are expensive at $99, but SO worth it.
Hey Jenna – What kind of oats do you use? Those look delicious!
Jenny,
these are just from the bulk bin at my health food store!
Sony’s headphones are AMAZING. A bit more pricey (around $50) but I think definitely worth it, and they’ll never let you down if you take care of them! Plus they’re the “inner ear” headphones, so they won’t fall out during exercise!

I love the in-ear Bose headphones. They are so worth the price! I’ve had mine for a couple years now and work perfectly.
Have a great ride! And whatever– I’m all about March being about wine and coffee, and I have no deadline at all
Healthy living? I should remind you that both coffee and wine have health benefits!

Cheers!
I keep seeing these PB&J oats everywhere, I really need to try them! Good luck writing today!!
i have some bose headphones that are awesome…they work really well and have lasted a long time! i’m a huge fan of jam in my oats as well…that fruity sweetness is perfect
I love my Sennheiser sport earphones from the Apple store! They hook over my ears so they don’t fall out when I’m running!
Mmmmm pb+j oats. I’ve really enjoyed watching you go through the process of writing a book! It’s so exciting for me, lol.
Skull Candy! Best in-ear headphones
wine and caffeine-sounds great to me!
breakfast looks perfect!
ROTFLMAO. We have the same March Madness diet–well, the two beverages mentioned and spinach salads. It is beautiful out here, too.
I like my ear buds that have a volume control right on the cord so I can easily adjust it while running without looking down at my Ipod. Just something you might want to consider. : )
Jenna, when is the book officially suppose to be done and do you know when the expected date of release? I can’t wait to read it!!!
JW,
The book will be released a year from right now…Spring of 2011!
I’m with you, instant has nothing on real oats
Good luck on the writing!!
Mmm That oatmeal looks so thick! Definitely need the steel cuts to make it feel like a meal
Highly recommend skull candy.. they don’t hurt, there are different size buds, fun colors, and only like $20. I’m very particular about my headphones and I’ve tried everything – they are the absolute best.
I like these ones: http://www.amazon.com/SHJ030-Multi-directional-Earhook-Headphone-Black/dp/B000UP840S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1268243891&sr=8-1
I found they are really good for the money. They stay put and I don’t ever feel like they’re going to fall out. I tend to manhandle my earphones, since I’m carrying them to and from the gym and sweating all over them, so I didn’t want to spend tons of money on them.
So simple and delicious! I’m a huge fan of skullcandy headphones. The buds go in your ears, and actually stay there!
I’ve been going without oatbran for 1 month now..its tough but I’m trying to use up all the old fashion oats I got at costco!!
xoxo
Maggie
Still love that mug:)
I suggest Sony’s sport ones. They have three different size options to choose from which is awesome.
I’m looking forward to your book. That jam looks delicious. Keep up the good work!
I am in full support of as much caffeine and wine as it takes to get the job done.
I like the Skull Candy headphones. They come with 3 different sizes of earplugs and they don’t fall out when you run. Plus, you can get them in lots of different colors!
hahaha. I think it’s ok for March to be about caffeine and wine!
Coffee is so necessary for my existence…haha
I cannot see myself giving it up.
I sweat too much to use ear buds so I rock the behind the head ones. That way my sweat doesn’t ruin one of the earphones. It happens everytime I get ear buds.
I can’t go a day without coffee, and I doubt I’d ever want to go a week without wine! You seem to live a balanced life though – eating healthy and exercising combined with some fun stuff is what’s it all about!

Coffee and wine are absolutely healthy
Someone was surprised once when I told them I drank coffee every day (just a cup!) and said ‘I thought you were all-natural and all that’… I said coffee IS natural, and healthy in moderation!
Old fashioned rolled oats > instant oats anyday. sooooo much better. And hey – coffee and wine BOTH have health benefits, right?! You’re doing great on the healthy living track
Nothing wrong with a bit of coffee and wine! Sounds like a good plan for March lol!
I LOVE JAM !!! It’s awesome in oats too
Skull Candy all the way…the ones with the sized rubber pieces! They are so awesome!
I just picked up some crofters jam today for my oats. You cna’t go wrong with oats and jam.
I like the idea of March being all about coffee and wine! 2 of my favorite things!!
Mmm, I love “real” old fashioned oats! And Bonne Maman is the GREATEST jam. I need to find it here in Canada!
xo

I notice so many foodie bloggers love their oats in the morning.
Oh, wow, that PB & J oatmeal looks reeeeeeally good. Especially the jam. I think this may be the start of a trend. Hope you have a great day.
oooh that oatmeal looks great! The perfect fuel for a bike ride …have fun!
Haha! I don’t always run with music but when I do, I only wear one ear (so I can hear traffic, etc). Of course, this makes my earbuds last longer because when the one ear inevitably dies, I still have one! Guess I’m not much help, huh? Right now I have some Nike ones with 3 different sized ear thingys that I’m liking.
so my pantry is currently harboring a family size thing of quick oats. ive been avoiding it (slash replenishing my old fashioned oats stash every time they run out)–but im gonna have to face the music, soon, i fear haha
I’ve got the Sure sound-isolation earbuds and LOVE them. The sound is amazing and the chord is nice and long in case you’re working out and need some extra wiggle room.
Thank you! Your blog makes me happy for so many reasons…the pictures of food, your job at the winery, your choices in food, the random shout outs to Tampa (did I mention the pictures of food) aaand especially because of lines like this… “March is all about caffeine and wine. Wait, did I say that out loud? This is a healthy living blog…oops.”
It helps that I am reading this in Tampa sipping on a wonderful bottle of Shiraz!
I love skullcandy earbuds even more than my bose
