News Flash: I have a new favorite drink! And it’s not wine, coffee or peanut butter hot chocolate (gasp!)!!
I’m completely and hopefully addicted to this fresh strawberry agua fresca and you will be, too, once you try it! It’s a great alternative to lemonade and iced tea, and is ridiculously refreshing at any hour of the day.
Plus, if your strawberries are as cheap as my strawberries right now (buy one carton and get two free!) you have no excuse not to make this. You only need three ingredients!
All you do to make this is just puree fresh juicy strawberries, strain out the seeds and then mix the puree with ice water, a little sugar and a squeeze of lime.
I love the bright, pretty color most of all!
It would be perfect served in large pitchers at Easter brunch, baby showers or barbecues. In my head right now I’m thinking of a future Mexican-themed outdoor party I’d like to host someday. Drinks would be fruity margaritas and strawberry agua fresca.
If somebody else wants to steal my million dollar idea, that’s fine. Just invite me, ok?
Strawberry Agua Fresca
serves 3
Ingredients:
1 lb strawberries, stems removed and sliced in half
2 1/2 cups cold water
3-4 T sugar
juice of two limes
Directions:
Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor. Force puree through a fine mesh strainer (I used a sifter) to get rid of all the seeds. Pour seedless puree into the water and add the lime juice and sugar. Stir well so sugar dissolves. Garnish with additional lime slices and serve.
Time:
10 minutes

this sounds SO refreshing, and perfect for summer! i can picture myself drinking this on a rooftop patio overlooking the mountains…
wonderful idea! Strawberries + Lime + Sugar = perfect!!!! especially on a beautiful sunny day!
This looks incredibly delicious and refreshing!
Hmmm. I’m thinking this one through as an idea to give to patients….
Thanks for sharing this drink!
Minus the sugar of course…!
Yeah, I’d imagine that the sweetness of the strawberries is good enough. But maybe a packet of Stevia as an alternative to sugar or a tbsp. of maple syrup?
Buy 1 – get TWO free?!
Wow Jenna this looks AMAZING – so refreshing.
Side note: I hope I can find buy one get two free strawberries!!!
Oh yummm this sounds so refreshing! I wish it was spring-y enough here to drink big pitchers of this outside on the patio but unfortunately this morning I woke up to find frost on my car!! Oh well, soon enough!! Have a great day Jenna!

Mmmm…that looks so refreshing! Perfect thing for a hot summer’s day!
Sounds refreshing and soooo easy! The only downside is that strawberry’s are 6 dollars a pound right now in my store
Strawberries have been so cheap the last few weeks I’ve been loading up. I had so many I had to freeze them before I could get through them all- this would be the perfect thing to do with them!!
I think this needs a splash of tequila:-)
There needs to be a “like” button for this!
Hey Jenna, don’t forget Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner!
Yum! I want a glass right now!!
My husband makes these “aguas” all the time… strawberry is my favorite but you can do mango, pineapple… any flavor really.. and they are all good!!
Aaaaaand now I need a daquiri. Thaaaanks. I’ll only forgive ya cause this looks just as good (and much more appropriate for 9 am at the office!)
Two thoughts. Would also be great with sparkling water. I would also be open to adding mint, and while im there, might as well make it a mojito! I will be having a strawberry aqua fresca later!
this looks fantastic for summer.
thanks!
Such a simple recipe! Love it!
Ooh, this makes me so excited for summer bbq season! So fresh and healthy!
Pure genius! Seriously. I can’t believe this didn’t occur to me before! Thanks for thinking of it first and sharing.
This looks refreshing and delicious! What a clever idea! It’s getting really hot in DC (up to 85 yesterday!) – I just might have to make some of this over the weekend
Yum! There is a super-authentic Mexican restaurant that we love to go to that has all different flavors of agua fresca, but I’ve never thought of making my own. Now I will!
this does look super refreshing. Does the sugar dissolve well?
1. I love that you’re using a jam jar for this.
2. If only it weren’t in the low 50s and cloudy here, then that drink may actually be seasonally appropriate!
I LOVE agua fresca!!
Looks so refreshing!!
Your pictures came out great!!
Ahhhh, absolutely love this!
That sounds so refreshing — and I love the taste of strawberry + lime.

Oh yum!! Agua fresca is my favorite as is, throw in some fresh strawberry and it is heaven. I’ll need to be making this…FL heat is already becoming unbearable and this is just the thing to help cool things down.

I can’t wait until we actually have some warm weather here in Chicago so I can try the recipe!
WOW, looks super delicious! I get all kinds of these drinks when I go back to Mexico.
That looks so refreshing! I love the color of it too – screams backyard party.
I bet that would be really good with rum in it
That’s what I was thinking! Though it does look delightful on its own.
I definitely like the idea of serving this at a shower or bbq.

Juice in a jar is NOT optional
I want this right now. It sounds delicious!
How refreshing! I’ve never made a drink with strawberries before
sparkling water is where it’s at with this!
This is perfect timing! I’m recreating our favorite honeymoon dinner for our anniversary, and we had blackberry agua frescas in Costa Rica every night. I was going to serve a smoothie, but now I can dish up the real deal!
This is the perfect drink! I want some. Now.
I could guzzle that all day long…Maybe add a shot of rum and a spring of mint?
I saw the hot cross cookie buns (from yesterday or day before) in our local paper yesterday as an AP article…was that you? So cool. What a small (big) world!
This looks amazing! Is it terrible that the first thing I thought about was what kind of alcohol would be perfect to spike it with?
Def. going to try this this summer. Yummy
YUM! So perfect for a summer barbeque!

You absolutely have to try melon (cantaloupe, honeydew, or watermelon) aqua fresca (try mixing in some cucumber). It will change your life.
Great pics!!
What a beautiful drink. I pretty much only drink coffee, water.. or wine
, but this looks too good not to try.
This looks beautiful – I especially like the pic of it in the bon mamon jar. I will have to try it myself!
Yum! I might mix this with a little Riesling and see where it goes!
Brilliant! And so pretty, too
Jenna, as a fellow Santa Rosan, where are you getting your strawberries for so cheap??
safeway!
Crazy! I’m going to go pick some up tonight!
but fresca must be said with a roll of the ‘arrr’
Know what would make this even better? Vodka. Just found my new favorite adult drink!
Love this! It sounds so refreshing, and I can actually drink it right now! All the usual fun drinks are off the list since I’m preggers
Oh this sounds really fresh and delicious!!
WOW Jenna, this looks lovely! Just like many of you other gals, I thought too how great it would be for a fun non-alcoholic drink at a shower or BBQ. I think I am going to add this to my list of dishes to bring to Easter dinner this Sunday. I would also love to try watermelon. Thanks for a great idea Jenna! I can’t wait to try it!
I love this drink. It’s a gorgeous springy color too. Now I want to have a BBQ so I have an excuse to make a giant pitcher of it!
Strawberry agua frescas. What an elegant touch to brunch!
Looks perfect for a summer BBQ…but have to admit I can see sneaking some vodka or maybe even white wine in there somehow. Does that make me bad?
This looks so refreshing. Perfect for this freakishly hot weather in Florida!
I love how easy this is. Pretty too
thank you…
Thank You…
THANK YOU! Look forward to this.
If I hadn’t recently discovered I was allergic to strawberries I’d be all over this. Looks delicious, though.
try it with watermelon or melon!
This looks fabulous! I want some now. You can bet this will be on our Easter menu! I love the idea of adding mint to the mix! mmm…
I think I will make this on my weekend away – I will give you all the credit, of course
Beautiful photos!
Mmm what a lovely springy beverage!!
Wow that is so beautiful. I bet it tastes amazing. Last summer I did something similar with watermelon and lime. Omg, yum
Cant wait for summer!
Love the jar, what brand is it??! I am a jar enthusiast. Can’t help it.
Jenna – did you get the bowl at Anthro? I have about 30 so far
Hi Jenna!
In Mexico we drink aguas frescas everyday and you can make them practically from any fruit. Three refreshing options I recommend you to try: watermelon, jamaica (hibiscus flower) and lemon with chia. Best regards from sunny Mexico
This looks beautiful!! Great presentation.
Heidi xo
That looks like the bomb dot com. Get in my belly.
This looks delicious! SO refreshing and beautiful!
That looks great! My daughters are addicted to ordering “Strawberry waters” at Starbucks, so I think they will like these and we use the same jelly jars are glasses at my house!
So refreshing! That would be great with a little rum
My mom and I are throwing my sis a baby shower this Saturday… this drink is perfect! Thanks for sharing. Love how simple, but delicious it is

nom nom nom. add some vodka or some champagne and it is perfect for a bridal shower
I was watching Top Chef Masters last night (after I had DVR’d it) and I saw one of the contestants put their strawberry puree in a french press to get rid of the seeds. A FRENCH PRESS! So genius…
I just bought more strawberries than I thought I could handle. Think again….I know what I am making for my Friday evening on the patio now
Love it!
I’m up to my ears in strawberries and this looks like a delicious way to get rid of them. Love it!
That looks so refreshing. Great summer drink
So simple and easy–I will def. be duplicating this when the weather warms up later this week. Mm strawberries.
I made watermelon agua fresca last summer and fell in love too…now I have to try strawberry!!
I made this for Easter dinner. I added banana rum and a splash of ginger ale. Fabulous cocktail!
I made this and your gac for my dad’s birthday / Memorial Day BBQ and everyone raved! I have to say my adult version with tequila went faster than the kid-friendly version I made.
awesome!!
This is fabulous! Instead of lime I put about 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries and a little less sugar! turned out great!
