strawberry agua fresca

News Flash: I have a new favorite drink! And it’s not wine, coffee or peanut butter hot chocolate (gasp!)!!

I’m completely and hopefully addicted to this fresh strawberry agua fresca and you will be, too, once you try it! It’s a great alternative to lemonade and iced tea, and is ridiculously refreshing at any hour of the day.

Plus, if your strawberries are as cheap as my strawberries right now (buy one carton and get two free!) you have no excuse not to make this. You only need three ingredients!

All you do to make this is just puree fresh juicy strawberries, strain out the seeds and then mix the puree with ice water, a little sugar and a squeeze of lime.

I love the bright, pretty color most of all!

It would be perfect served in large pitchers at Easter brunch, baby showers or barbecues. In my head right now I’m thinking of a future Mexican-themed outdoor party I’d like to host someday. Drinks would be fruity margaritas and strawberry agua fresca.

If somebody else wants to steal my million dollar idea, that’s fine. Just invite me, ok?

Ingredients:

1 lb strawberries, stems removed and sliced in half

2 1/2 cups cold water

3-4 T sugar

juice of two limes

Directions:

Puree the strawberries in a blender or food processor. Force puree through a fine mesh strainer (I used a sifter) to get rid of all the seeds. Pour seedless puree into the water and add the lime juice and sugar. Stir well so sugar dissolves. Garnish with additional lime slices and serve.

Time:

10 minutes
