Team Sweat

hey heyy

Hope your Tuesday is going well. We just got back from Bikram and it was HOT. :) My mom actually practices Bikram at home pretty regularly so she knew what was comin’ for her, but she swore this studio (an actual Bikram College of India studio) was waaay hotter than our studio in Tampa. I didn’t disagree! Drank a toooooooon of water.

Once home, I made a quick lunch:

IMG_3102.JPG
A toasted Ezekiel muffin with 4 egg whites, smear of hummus, morningstar farms soysage, 1/4th of an avocado and HOT SAUCE! I also had an unpictured apple after.
…..And I’m off. Hope y’all have a great day!

Hot sauce on eggs = perfection. I have an egg sandwich with Crystal on it almost every single morning.

Can anyone help me out? How does one practice Bikram at home? I’m not even sure what Bikram is but there’s a hot Bikram class in my town that I want to try, but I’m scared to go without some practice first. :) Any suggestions??

Hi I have been reading your blog for a while and see that you’ve started practicing Bikram regularly! I found it about ~4 months ago and have been practicing 6-9x a week (doubles!), it has really changed my body composition and helped my running (my legs are really strong from standing head to knee!) and my core is more defined….and I noticed more tone in my arms so I guess it works those too…anyway I think it’s great that you love it, I have a hard time convincing people to go with me!

I’ve only ever been to a Bikram Studio once but I can’t wait to try it again in the new year.

I’ve only ever been to two Birkram classes…I don’t have much time (or money) now…but I found it to be slow actually? Which is good – and definitely perfect for me now :) as I tend to prefer sitting and stretching …;) – oye – …but it definitely takes discipline to stay with it and I like that it goes from standing to back to twists…not held for very long either. There also aren’t any sun salutations…so it’s a good way to get to ‘know’ and practice the basic postures…which I still fall out of and my hips do not twist in the last one.
Christin – Bikram isn’t just about being in a Hot room – it follows a set 26 postures that are run through twice..so essentially the class is always the same no matter where you go. Some instructors can be very ‘militant’ about it – no emotion, etc. I don’t know…
Meanwhile, it does nothing to make me more aware of my mindless eating…I’m stuffed and still consuming…

I am still nervous to try Bikram! We have pretty much the same deal at our local Bikram studio and I know I should take advantage. How are those morningstar sausages? I’ve been looking for a veggie sausage replacement for my Christmas stuffing and was thinking about using those…
