That’s how long I have been traveling for.
Never have I had a holiday so action packed, so crazy and so full of absolute love. It was a joy! Unfortunately, now I am sitting in bed with a fever sipping a ginger ale after a mega case of a winter flu/cold hit me smack in the face yesterday somewhere over Nevada. I’m wondering which airplane, rental car, hand I shook or toilet seat I sat on (do those paper thingies actually do anything?) carried these germy germs.
That being said, I wasn’t exactly planning on my first day back home to be a sick day but oh well. Allow me to entertain you with some photos from our travels! Each one makes me smile; I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family and can’t wait to get 2012 started right!
We started in Savannah, and spent a fabulous Christmas Eve with my mom and dad, eating fried shrimp and drinking bloody mary’s at a beach bar on Tybee Island. Note to self: booze detox starts now.
Although Savannah won’t ever feel like “home” to me, I love visiting.
Then, bright and early on Christmas morning, we headed to East Texas where I witness the scene below. Yes, those are goats, and yes, they are just chilling. NBD.
The sky is just SO blue there. And the stars felt so close…extremely close.
After a few days in the country, we headed to Austin where…..there was more booze. Heaven help me.
There was also dancing!
Lots and lots of dancing.
Still going.
And really delicious food shared with the best of friends.
Along with a failed midnight creme brulee torching.
NOBODY MOVE. I HAVE THIS!
Now…who can I pay to make me some of this? Totally not joking.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga
January 2, 2012 at 4:39 amSorry you’re sick….it’s almost bound to happen with all those airplanes and germy seats and handles and just unknown surroundings.
I love the pics in this post. You look great and Adam is a ham! A failed creme brulee torching? I would have stood there forever with that blow torch. I’ve always wanted to buy one. lol

January 2, 2012 at 12:43 pmHave you ever tried putting star anise in your chicken noodle soup? I stole this idea from a place in Santa Cruz (called Charlie Hong Kong, if you’re ever in that neighborhood you should definitely check it out) whose soup has special healing powers. So yummy and will absolutely make you feel better.
ps. this is the first time I’ve commented, but I have been reading your blog for the past month or so and I totally love it. It’s like a little ray of sunshine!

January 2, 2012 at 12:44 pmOh that’s weird! I just finished putting my groceries away and I seriously bought the ingredients for your Asian Chicken Noodle Soup. Haven’t tried it yet so I’m excited. We love variations on chicken soup. Can’t wait to try this!

Hmm, it seems like you get a cold whenever you come back from traveling. I’m guessing the plane rides combined with the rush of the season and fatigue catches up to you. I guess it’s lucky you can work from home – and make some soup!
