Baby/ Behind The Butter

Lately

IMG_0253

Hello!

I apologize for being MIA over the past week but my mom has been in town and we’ve been soaking up every precious moment with grandma! Here’s a little “what’s happening lately” in our lives to tide you all over. A recipe post will be coming soon!

Five months with Grayson is, hands down, the best of the best. He’s so much fun. I never want him to get any bigger! Sure, he has his moments and moods but he’s such a happy jolly baby! He laughs hysterically now, which is pretty much the best thing ever. Adam can make him crack up way more than me!

We’ve had awesome weather lately and have been enjoying tons of wrap walks in the afternoon. I know, I know..I still owe you that babywearing post and it’s coming! I just wanted to try a ring sling first before writing it…now I have, so I will be working on that post over the next few days.

I haven’t been cooking at all over the past week since my mom has been here and it’s been wonderful. She’s the best cook and it’s been such a treat to sit back and let someone else do all the cooking and cleaning. Come back, mom!!!

Grayson’s favorite food of the moment is butternut squash. He can go to town on some squash! He always grins when he eats it and it totally melts my heart. A little foodie in the making!

We are traveling to Texas to spend Thanksgiving with Adam’s family again this year. I can’t believe it’s coming up so fast! Grayson did fine with travel when he was 2 months old but I’m getting a tad anxious now that he’s six months old and way more active than he was before. I’ll be revisiting this post, for sure.

I haven’t been exercising AT ALL. It’s not about the post pregnancy weight loss for me, it’s about my sanity. I need to start again. Honestly, I feel a little “floppy”…like there’s an extra layer of jelly all over my body? Gross.

Grayson is full force teething! He’s gnawing on everything he can get his paws on. Thank goodness I discovered those teething necklaces! They come in so handy when I’m wearing him. We love chewbeads and Monkey & Mum the most!

So that’s what’s been going on in our neck of the woods! Nothing terribly exciting, just slowing down and enjoying every second of this season with my family.

Grayson is ridiculously cute. That is so nice that your Mom came out to visit. Mom time is the best time, and of course, everything tastes better when someone else cooks!!!

I love that you’re soaking up this time – it flies by so fast! But if you think you love 5 months, just wait – it gets more fun every day, every month, every year. You’re going to adore that dude every step of the way!

Oh I just love the first picture of you two! Have you tried a Baltic Amber Teething Necklace? “Natural anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties of Baltic amber are perfect to soothe teething babies. Amber necklaces are made for wearing, not for chewing as amber exhibits its pain relieving qualities when worn on the skin.” I have a lot of friends report great things about it and it seems to be helping our little guy!

Someone told me when my girls were tiny – that each new “season” in our kids’ lives is the best. At first, I thought they did that just to make me feel better when I was sad that my babies were growing up. But now, (my girls are 6 and 4) I realize it’s true. Each new season of their lives is so incredible. Hearing them say I love you, – jumping up and down because it was snowing, going on shopping trips, the first day of school- I mean clearly there are so many examples. But it really does – just get better. 🙂 enjoy!

What a cute little guy. It seems they grow up so fast. I remember when mine were small, I loved to grow a garden and they learned to love fresh veggies out of the garden. So healthy…made my own baby food.

I am one of those folks who has followed your blog for a long long time, and I just want to say how much I am loving your posts now, and how precious these photos are… you look so content and full of joy. I dont find it at all boring to read about the little things that people are up to day to day. I love the quote that goes something like, “Those little things day to day? They are not so little.” I think its nice to hear about mom’s visiting, butternut squash being eaten, and beads babies are chewing.. its those little things that and little moments that make up our lives. Reading blogs is great for recipes, outfits, etc., but its also nice to hear about people’s lives and to see they are made up of the same sorts of things, in never ending interesting and amazing variations, though. Thanks for sharing yours with us for so long, its appreciated. <3

Such an adorable family!! Love these updates! And for the working out, sometimes a break is necessary and your body tells you when it is time to do it again. A season for everything including a little jelly 🙂 Sounds like you used that extra time for baby snuggling, which is the best! Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We are traveling too over the holidays with a 6 month old & it is already getting my anxiety going! We flew when he was 3 months and that went well-he slept most of the time but he is so much more active and awake now that I am getting nervous! My plan is lots of interactive toys, books and lots of milk bottles on hand, just in case! 🙂

Hi Jenna, happy thanksgiving weekend. So our boys are both 6 months and big guys. Random q-How do you bathe Grayson? I’m finding the infant tub is hurting my back. Just don’t think he will fit in the sink. Any advice? Thanks!

We bathe in him in the normal bathtub 🙂 I hold under his head and back and lay him down in the water. We’ve been doing that since we got home from the hospital with him and it works great! 🙂
