Last night we met our friends for dinner at Rosso!
Rosso is a pizza and wine bar in Santa Rosa and I’ve been wanting to try it forever. Pizza and wine? Yes please.
Everything on the menu looked delicious and unique…pizza with Sonoma farm fresh eggs? Pizza with spaghetti and meatballs? Only in California. We started with a couple appetizers—asparagus and fava beans with lemon aioli:
Fava beans are gigantic peapods. What’s not to love???! In celebration of their awesomeness, we referred to last night as Fava Friday.
Fritto misto:
The calamari was just lightly fried in rice flour so it wasn’t greasy at all. This plate was right in front of me, causing a dangerous situation indeed.
Smoked chicken salad with gorganzola, candied walnuts, apples and smoked chicken with organic apple cider vinegarette came next.
And then we made room for the pizzas!!
Margherita + goat cheese and mushrooms:
Egg, proscuitto and tomato:
The crust was doughy and chewy. Need I say more?
There was also wine. A lot of wine.
After dinner, our friends told us that they thought it over and they would like to keep hanging out until midnight. The boy and I were so happy that they liked us! We have friends! They want to hang out and play board games!
We are not used to such things, clearly.
Let the games begin!
This was intense. I continued drinking wine when I really should have stopped. I guess board games just drive me to drink.
It was a nice filled with laughter, good food, good wine and great friends. What more could you ask for?
I hope y’all are enjoying your Saturday!

LOVE pizza. LOVE wine. Despite the catastrophic eating pits I’ve put my stomach through the past few nights…pizza may just be on the agenda…

May 1, 2010 at 1:07 pmYou could definitely not ask for more! Oh, and yesterday at the library I picked up both The Poisonwood Bible AND American Wife. And I haven’t started either because I’m finishing another book, but methinks I won’t be going out with friends or my boyfriend anytime soon, since I’ll be glued to the couch and my books 🙂

May 1, 2010 at 1:23 pmThe first time I’d ever had pizza with egg on it was in Barcelona-I thought it was great! Some ladies from work and I were supposed to have an after-work event at Rosso, but it never materialized…guess I’m gonna get it to happen! Everything looks amazing.
Board games with friends and great pizza sounds like a perfect Friday night.

May 1, 2010 at 1:48 pmI hope you have been too!
Making new friends is always so nice. I still don’t have a ton here in Orlando. My painting doesn’t help me out much in that area either since it keeps me in a lot.
I have to force myself to go out! I am doing it tonight and my mission is to talk to at least 5 people.
Wish me luck!

May 1, 2010 at 3:39 pmThat pizza looks like a place we go here in Vegas called Settebello. They have THE best dough because it’s chewy and doughy, yet crunchy and crispy. Looks yummy, what a fun night!

May 2, 2010 at 6:54 amYour photos are so myopic when you are out with your boyfriend, perhaps in an attempt to keep him away from the lens. It’s sort of dizzying.
