Gahhh I have just survived the car trip from hell!
Normally, the trip from Tampa to Vero Beach takes roughly 2 1/2 hours. This afternoon, however, it took a lovely 4 hours and 45 minutes!!!!!!! Right around the halfway point there was a huge wreck and we all just SAT for 2 hours. People were outside of their cars, milling around and some were even peeing on the side of the road. I didn’t have any cell phone service where we were (in the middle of nowhere) so I just sat and zoned out for hours. It was horrible.
Good thing I had a great snack before I left—a banana with a tbsp of almond butter:
I was having issues eating it though apparently and Ryan thought it was funny to snap a whole slideshow of pictures of the experience. I almost choked on my banana.
I’m so silly. I know. Anyways, while I was stranded in the car I ate the dinner of champions—-
Not exactly what I wanted for dinner tonight but it was all I could do in the situation. I really liked the pumpkin flavor though! I have to say now that I have tried all the seasonal flavors that the maple nut is my favorite and the pear apple strudel comes in second. This and the gingerbread tie as third. J
When I finally made it home I snacked on 1/3 cup Ezekiel cinnamon raisin cereal with silk, heated up in the micro for a minute and topped with cinnamon and agave.
Well, it’s time to get ready for another week! I was hoping to get some more stuff done this afternoon (grocery shopping and laundry) but it’ll all have to wait until tomorrow I guess. Right now it’s time for a bath, reading and bed. I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday weekend and now its time to get ready for Christmas!!!!!! =) I’m pretty much obsessed with Christmas music and listened to it for about the whole 5 hour car ride today.
Have a great night!

November 30, 2008 at 8:03 pmWere you driving on I95? My twin Bro was on his way back to Miami in the pouring rain going normal speed when all of sudden the cars in front of him were in a standstill, he skidded off of the road to avoid a collision. He was safe, but it still shows you how scary rain and holiday traffic do not mix.

November 30, 2008 at 8:17 pmUgh. That’s the worst. I could drive for long periods of time with no problem as long as we’re moving, but standstill traffic is really truly awful.

November 30, 2008 at 8:42 pmEverytime I hear about traffic at a standstill for any length of time my mind flashes to my biggest fear, “Where would I pee?”. Since I have to pee every hour or so, I would have been one of those people going on the side of the road.

November 30, 2008 at 11:19 pmThose pictures were so cute!!!
Sorry about your ride home… That sounds terrible! I get so frustrated when that happens which I know is exactly the opposite of what I’m supposed to do… Road Rage never helps!

December 1, 2008 at 7:27 amThanks for all the food ideas! I have recently tried the sugar cookie tea and chocolate peanut butter. The sugar cookie tea smells and taste amazing! Its great for curving a sweet tooth. I went shopping for Nutella (my sister wanted) with my Aunt. The ingrident list freaked us out. They had the brand you bought of Chocolate peanut butter and target brand. Target brand was $2 cheaper so my Aunt bought that (she was paying bc I wouldnt have cared) Its really good but not as good as you make the other one sound so I am buying that next time! Thanks again.

December 1, 2008 at 10:41 amyou are adorable. I would have been yelling in my car after about 15 mins if i was you haha… Actually, i’ve had ONE fun traffic experience. My friends and I were dead stopped so we did a karaoke night in my car… now THAT was a good way to sit in traffic. 😉

December 1, 2008 at 12:19 pmLol! Your braids are so cute! Are they normal braid-style or did you do some fancy French-braid-y technique w/them? I can never get mine to look like that!

December 1, 2008 at 3:10 pmA friend of mine had to drive home to St. Pete from Alabama yesterday, and he said the trip (which usually takes 5 hours) took 10 hours!!!! How terrible! I heard that more people were driving than usual this year because the economy is so bad. The lines at the airport this Thanksgiving definitely didn’t seem as bad as last year.

December 1, 2008 at 3:15 pmAmanda,
Haha no those are just very messy braids. I have no idea how to french braid! I wish I did!

December 1, 2008 at 9:35 pmhey i had the same meal in the car, apple and a clif bar(banana bread-yum!) driving from tampa down to delray beach. it took us 5.5 hrs, we did not get stuck behind the same accident as you, but it took us 45 minutes to get thru yeehaw junction!! it was such a horrible drive home. not the best way to end a great holiday weekend, but at least it didn’t start out that way.
