A Fabulous Dinner Date

WOW! Dinner was more than amazing. I didn’t get home until midnight, which is why this post is late! We had a glamorous 3 hour dinner and awesome food-related conversation the whole time. So, let’s start from the beginning. When I got there at 8:00, I met Kate and her roommate at the bar and we each had a glass of wine. I opted for a “taste” of wine (a 3 ounce pour) rather than a whole glass because I knew we weren’t going to be sitting in the bar for long. My taste was great– It was a delicious Pinot Noir. The best part though?! Our pre-dinner drinks were FREE! I guess the bartender liked us so there was no charge. Talk about starting the night off right!

When we got to the table we ordered another bottle of a French Syrah for three of us girls to share. It was also delicious. Kate works for a wine company so she knows her wines and I let her do the picking! If you all looked at the menu, you will see that the restaurant does small plates and then entrees. I ordered the ceviche small plate and it was the perfect size just to “wet my palate”, as my server said was the goal. It was only about three bites but had so much flavor exploding from the fish, avocado and spicy chilies. Wonderful. I also nibbled on bread, which was cut into tiny slices only about two or three bites each. Talk about proper serving sizes!

For my entree I ordered the tofu, which was lightly smothered in a spicy curry sauce and served with bok choy, sweet potatoes and carrots–all over jasmine rice. It was excellent and another properly small portion. I hate when restaurants give you too much food, which they usually do! I finished my ceviche and tofu and felt satisfied, not stuffed. And then of course came the dessert menu and each of us girls ordered a different treat! I ordered the “s’mores” which were FABULOUS! They were so tiny…2 bites of graham cracker below a small piece of melting dark chocolate and topped with a marshmellow brulee. It was served with a malted milkshake (petit sized and so cute!) and I gave that to another girl at the table.  I ate both the s’mores and had bites of everyone else’s desserts as well! Too fun!

We planned our next dinner for April at the vegan restaurant in town that Kate and I went to lunch to a couple weeks ago. I do wish all y’all lived closer so you could join in!!

    Hey everybody

I have been a fan of the blog for quite a while but have never really commented. Just wondering if there are any other people from Montreal Canada by any chance?? It gets so frustrating having no friends with the same interests in healthy eating/living and exercising. All my friends think i m a freak lol. And they would much more prefer going out and getting drunk and eating Mcdonalds than having a great healthy supper or going to the gym together! It gets hard to stay motivated sometimes. I am actually going to sign up to a pilates class during the next couples of months so i ll see maybe i ll meet an exercise buddy there ! Looks like your evening was fun Jenna ! keep up the great work !

Aww what a great idea! It looks like you guys had a great time. I also wished I live closer! I would love to join you girls. I’ve always wanted to live in Florida anyway…Canadian winters are NOT for me! haha
Hey miss514, I know what you mean about not being able to go out with your friends all the time! My friends also have quite a different lifestyle than I do, but I try to deal with it. I wish the Canadians on here all lived closer, but it seems like were all pretty spread out. I’m from Toronto, but currently at school in Halifax. Anyway, let me know if youre ever in the area!

Looks like you guys ha a wonderful time; the restaurant’s menu looks AMAZING!
Glad to see some fellow Canadians! I am in Northern Ontario. miss514, I feel the exact same way! My friends lately seem to want to just sit around or go out for fast food, while I would love a friend to go to a new exercise class with or try a new restaurant that isn’t a fast food chain! 🙂

Gotta hate the Canadian winters lol….I am so jealous of the weather in California !Even though the blog readers are pretty much from all over the place its great that its such a positive vibe and most of the readers are in the same age range. Reading the comments kinda compensates from having a circle of friends that dont have any interest in exercise/healthy eating. I am actually addicted to food blogs and magazines lol.
Its so inspiring to know that so many people have developped a healthy conscience ! When i look at myself a couple of years ago, I changed so much its crazy, I used to eat only junk food, never exercise, go out late and drink way too much.
Now that I educated myself on nutrition I am shocked at the amount of calories and sugar and fat I was consuming. I am surprised I wasnt overweight I mustve had a fast metabolism. No need to say that i feel 10000000 times better now and i am also 30 pounds lighter, which is just a bonus compared to the benefits of feeling great and healthy !

Wow that’s so yummie. I’m thinking of going to a year program in pastry at Johnson and Wales. I have my bachelors degree/switching careers. Do you think there are good opportunities out there? Thanks for your great blog.
