This is really fun for me to post. Turns out, I’m horrible at keeping secrets! So with that being said, want to know why I won’t be in attendance at The Healthy Living Summit?

Cause I’m moving this party to Europe. That’s right, on June 15th my friend Rea and I will be traveling to Paris and staying there all summer long, writing. We both begged all our family members to let us have their skymiles and thus found flights that were pretty much free. Rea and I studied abroad together in Paris back in 2007 and she’s an author as well. We both decided that we are way more inspired there than here and have different projects we will be working on while we are abroad.
Other fun plans include trips to Italy, Spain and Greece…..maybe a little Provence thrown in there with some nutella and red wine.

What can I say? Adventures are what makes the world go round.
On a much more boring note, here’s my breakfast:

And, I finally gave in and signed up for a Formspring account after receiving about a million emails asking me for an “ask me anything” column. Warning: be nice or I’ll take it down. Seriously.

March 2, 2010 at 9:03 amI LOVE Europe as you obviously do too! That’s such fun news(and what I guessed-tee hee!)
It’s always a little bizarre how Paris “shuts down” in the summer and all head off to their country holidays and it’s mostly tourists wandering around huh?But I have no doubt you and your friend will find lovely spots to write in and explore!
Good for you, cause I found living in Europe soooo expensive with euros and all.Luckily flights around Europe are dirt cheap at least π
I will enjoy seeing croissants and of course espresso and gelato in italy and…..etc etc!
Watch out for those handsome European men….let alone cute backpacking travel dudes-hee hee!

I actually do NOT have “a lot of money or something”. I have one credit card and it is currently frozen in a bag of water in my freezer. I have student loans, car payments and bills…but I figure life is too short to play it safe all the time. If you want something bad enough you can make it happen.

March 2, 2010 at 1:59 pmLets hope we have better weather this summer for you! If you do go down to Greece, Santorini is so, so worth a trip, the sunsets are amazing… island hopping was one of the best summers I’ve had! Your sense of adventure, strength, sense of justice and grace no matter the situation in hand is brilliant to see, and if there is such a thing as ‘deserving’, you definitely deserve such an experience. Next on my list is Carcassonne, and I STILL haven’t activated my credit card, money burns a hole in my pocket π

It’s so clear how much your first experience there influenced your way of thinking in a positive way. You’re such an amazing role model and I look up to you so much for following your dreams and taking chances (on top of being a hard worker). The people in your life are lucky to have you. I cant wait to “go” on this adventure with you and see all the amazing food pics you’ll have in paris! (oh and some historic things too, haha) π AND I cant wait to buy this book!

March 2, 2010 at 5:28 pmJenna,
I will be honest…I am jealous. But being jealous and competitive is such an unflattering trait of mine. Rather, I want to take your positivity and life zest and take away a bit of positivity myself.
Unfortunately, I am kind of stuck in my career and location, no matter what others say that one is never stuck. Literally, If I moved or took a “lesser job” the government will hunt me down and jail me π
But, whatever, its your life. Do what u wish with it. And no one can every deny you are living it. That is all I take from it. Not that u have this or that or are so lucky to have these blessings…instead just that u are living life…the details mean very little, the life means a lot !
Great oats in a jar too π

March 3, 2010 at 12:25 amThat’s pretty freakin’ awesome, Jenna!! You are SOOO right in that this is the perfect time for you to do something like this…well, the truth is, it’s ALWAYS the perfect time to do what you really want and live your life to the fullest….the hard part is just taking that first step off the trusty, worn-in, safe “path” that so many people just get stuck on their whole lives!
I’m doing something similar-ish in that I’m living in Madrid and working as an au pair. I’ve been here over 9 months and am sticking around until at least September. I’d LOVE to meet up with you if you come to Spain this summer…and if not….please email me if you want any tips or anything!! I just had the most incredible meal at the most to-die-for, authentic, tiny, hole-in-the-wall, family-run, smokey restaurant here in Madrid that’s apparently famous (I had walked by it a hundred times and never even noticed it!) for their mushrooms. Okay sorry I’m blabbing but I really am excited for you and hope you make it to EspaΓ±a some time!!! Ciao, besossss π
Maria
March 3, 2010 at 5:13 amThat’s very exciting for you!
Would you consider a post on budgeting and how you are swinging this (which I’m sure is a *big* unasked question in many of our polite minds)! I don’t have student loans or own a car, and have pretty good savings for someone my age thanks to a good job, but I still don’t think I could swing it! Paris is so expensive.
Also: will you be living there on a Visa? I’ve heard French bureaucracy is near-impossible and non-EU nationals pretty much can’t get jobs unless they’re in key industries.
Any thoughts or tips to share on either point?
Γ BientΓ΄t et merci!
Stephanie
March 3, 2010 at 5:35 amI, too, would love to see a post on budgeting!
