Good morning from Charleston!!

Yesterday Christie and I had a phenomenal Easter (I almost just wrote Thanksgiving?!) dinner with my family in Savannah and then headed north to Carolina. We all pitched in to produce a true Southern feast 🙂

We had buttermilk fried chicken, baked blue cheese macaroni, popovers and my mom’s famous red cabbage (recipe in my BOOK!). The fried chicken and blue cheese macaroni recipes are out of the Magnolia’s Restaurant cookbook and are to die for.

My plate:

Best macaroni and cheese ever…..seriously this time.
And Christie made a delicious fruit tart for dessert!

By the time we had finished eating we all were at the verge of popping but it was so well worth it.
We got in around 8:30 last night and pretty much fell asleep watching Sweet Home Alabama. This morning Christie went to work and I went on a spectacular 3 mile around my old home. I started at Christie’s house, which is pretty much on campus, and then ran all down King street, to the Battery and along the water then up East Bay Street and around. SO pretty and wonderful. I’ve been very blessed in that I’ve done some traveling and live in a breathtaking spot in the country but still…..there’s just something about this city that gets me every time.

Before my run I had a piece of wheat bread with a little almond butter and after, I made some oatmeal with water, 2 egg whites, half a banana, blackberries and more almond butter (christie has a very well stocked kitchen and I’m proud of her!)

While she works today I get to hang out with Layla!

Actually I’m going to the beach. 🙂 But I will give Layla some nice long walks as well. There’s not a cloud in the sky and the high is 81…….yes, yes, YES!!!!!!! This afternoon I’m picking up Christie from work and then its her turn to go running while I walk the Cooper River Bridge (!!) before going out to dinner and drinks with one of our good friends from high school who just moved here as well.
Happy Monday!

April 5, 2010 at 10:02 amI LOVE Charleston- it is my absolute most favorite place in the world. I have been 3 times and it just feels like home to me. We eat at 82 Queen every time and it never disappoints us. Next time we will try McCrady’s. Oh and we went on the old jail tour late one night, like 11:00PM and walked- super scary leaving that place that late let me tell you. Anyways, have fun and take plenty of charming pics to make me more envious.
