    Jenna!

Oh how I’ve missed you :(.
Somehow, when I made changes to my google reader a year ago, I accidentally left you off my new list, which meant I wasn’t getting my daily dose of Jenna-ness. Knew something was missing from my life!
But now all is right in the world again; I just have to make up for lost time in trying your recipes. Why do you make it so hard to choose what to make first?!

    Love from an old friend,
    Katie
P.S. Sending well-wishes to your poor phone. He (she?) looks like he could use a hug.

Oh noes! The same thing happened to my co-worker a few weeks ago.

Oh no! As some have said before me, I’ve done it before. Mine smacked onto a sidewalk and shattered almost the whole screen. I went to AT&T and they nicely recommended a kiosk in the mall that replaced the screen. I think it was around $40 or $60 (much cheaper than a new phone!) and took less than an hour! You should do some research…it might be salvageable.

I hate to be negative nancy because that truly truly sucks. But have you had a CASE for your iphone???? I cannot tell you how many times my iphone has gone flyyyyyyyying out of my hands to come crashing onto the pavement, concert, tiles, glass, you name it. Screen face down too! and my phone still looks good as new (its 1.5yrs old).

OH wow, Jenna!! I truly feel your pain….THIS JUST happened TO ME!! Except it was my beloved IPOD TOUCH!!! But not shattered….just dead. Liquid…only 30 seconds at most and it’s not responding. I tried the bag of rice trick. Nada…..

Before I give you complete details, let me just say as a mom of 3…this IPOD was/is a true blessing. A splurge last spring that I never allow myself. I have treated it like GOLD. I have a case. I LOVE that I can wash dishes or cook and not hear my kids argue! I love that I can listed to podcasts while doing dishes, or music. The other day I spend 3 hours reorganizing closet/dresser in my 3 yr olds room while listening to like 6 blogging podcasts. I’ve recently been known to say…”Ipod…a mom’s best friend.” (along with chocolate and caffeine). So to say I am SAD is an understatement. I have not full out gotten upset yet, because I am praying hard it flickers back to life (I’ll keep you posted!!). I have heard it sometimes happens after a couple days or even a week. I just can’t bear to think my Ipod days may be over. I LOVED the WiFi!! And my Twitterfic app!! Ahhh…..I digress….

Here is my story. I wish I had left my hot tea travel mug in the van. I wish I had remembered to put my IPOD in it’s case. I brought my travel mug into church with me. Oops can’t have it in sanctuary, so I smuggled it in upright in my purse….not to drink but to save a trip out the van. BIG church…so long walk. I set it down..everything upright…awesome message…service ends, I pick up purse aware of mug, but it must have tipped over somehow. Only a little opening, and I noticed right away liquid in one side of my purse. I panicked beause I had my new texting phone, my new camera…then I saw my Ipod sitting in it…the liquid….wasn’t even submerged. Took it out right away. It was dimly lit. On way home from church it lit up all the way. When I got home I was able to use my Twitter app…and it seemed fine then froze up. Now black. It was low on charge so I just took it out of rice to charge it. I’m hoping and praying….it was very traumatic, but I’m trying not to think of it.

Have a cupcake for me too!!! 😉

I did that — Cost me $250 to get fixed at an Apple Store in Ann Arbor, an hour away. I treated myself to a nice lunch and some shopping while I was there, but it was still very sad.

I have a case that wraps around the front a little. I tell myself that this will protect it next time. Of course, it could just be magical thinking….

    Hoping it’s already fixed.

    Hi Jenna,
I broke mine a few weeks ago… Spent $200 at the apple store to have it replaced. It was worth it though because I have the 32GB 3GS which they aren’t selling anymore.
I highly recommend an Otterbox case. I just bought another one at amazon.com, it’s black/pink. It bulks up the phone a bit, but it really protects it. Anyway, they run about $49, but on Amazon has the black/pink ones for only $14.95 from a store called OEM Planet. I also have the otterbox armband for when I run.

    I can’t recommend it enough!!

My husband dropped his iPhone 4 two weekends ago and shattered the screen. He immediately made a Genius bar appt to take it in to get it fixed – they replaced it for free. A few days later a friend of ours cracked hers. We told her what we’d done so she made an appt at the Genius Bar too and also got hers replaced for free. I’m guessing they’ll only do this for folks who’ve not had replacements/repairs before, but I really have no idea. We didn’t ask too many questions as we weren’t expecting it and didn’t want to jinx it!

    Good luck!
