Warning: what you see below may severely shock you!!!!!

Bye, bye blonde.

Hello, brunette

Changing your hair color is FUN! This is actually the third time in my life I’ve gone dark. The first time I was 17, then I was 19 and now…24. It’s been too long. Brunettes have fun, too. 😉 And, no, I didn’t do this myself. I’ve dyed my hair dark out of a box before and it didn’t end up so well so this time I went to a salon. Four hours later and I’m a new woman.
That was a fun Valentine’s Day activity. I think my date will be a wee bit shocked when he comes to pick me up in 30 minutes and doesn’t recognize me. No big deal…its only hair!
Other Valentine Day activities included going to Barnes and Noble and reading a new book all morning while drinking my new favorite sbucks drink—a grande earl gray tea with a shot of sugar syrup and a splash of soymilk:

And then I had a hummus bagel for lunch!

I FINALLY found a dang bagel place out here and this was my first bagel since moving out West. I mean come on, do people in California not eat carbs or something??! Can I get a Panera??! WHile my hairs were being dyed I also ate an odwalla bar…sorry no photo…I had two girls with their hands in my hair and it would have just been awkward.ry
For dinner we are going to Dry Creek Kitchen in Healdsburg in an hour. I’ve never been before even though its like three blocks from my house so I’m pretty excited!
Goodnight!
Abby

One thing I noticed was that I think the dark hair makes you look a bit like actress Evan Rachel Woods . . . but I could be hallucinating. 😉 I love dying my hair, even though I swim and between the chlorine and the dying my hair’s pretty destroyed.

February 15, 2010 at 4:29 amI LOVE how much this has and will surprise everyone. It is so funny how a hair colour change can make everyone do a doubletake!Exciting to shake things up and “shock” people.
You look stunning as a brunette, blonde(and I bet as a redhead too…or in the distance a greyhead!)
It is funny how we categorize you in some ways as a “sunny blonde” in Florida/Cali etc. Now you look like you could be a fashion funkster in NY or London.
Very daring, very cool and LOVE that is lets us all know we DON’T know everything about you…and never will/should!
Vive la daring Jenna!! Tres belle!
PS I know it’s only hair colour, but I predict people will be shocked 😉

February 15, 2010 at 4:31 amPS May I ask what your natural hair colour is (I knwo blondes go darker in adulthood and often highlight/dye to keep their childhood blonde)?

February 15, 2010 at 7:01 amOmg! I was in shock, as in jaw-dropped on the floor. It looks great! I dyed my hair dark my senior year of high school and lasted for about a year. It’s fun and as a blond hair/blue eyed girl it makes our eyes pop! My sister still tries to convince me to go back, maybe one day. 🙂 Looks awesome, and I can’t wait to hear about your dates reaction!

haha, and seriously? I LAUGH everytime you feel like CA doesn’t have something. Spend a week in SF, LA or SD and you’ll be surrounded by carby places like Panera. Wine Country isn’t always the best representation (but it is an awesome one of course) of the culinary diversity CA has to offer!
P.S. the book looks awesome. Let us know if you like, so I can put it on my ever-growing “to read” list!

I even grabbed my boyfriend and dragged him to the cupcake shop in vero you posted about awhile ago, it was awesome and pretty close to us! I love your new hair color and have enjoyed reading about all the changes you’ve recently made, like moving to one of the best states in the USA!

February 15, 2010 at 11:23 amWow Jenna! At first I thought you were just having some computer fun! I was just so used to you with Blond hair! The dark looks great too! So glad you tried it! Still deciding which I like better! You look great both ways! I have been thinking of dying mine…just to give it a richer brown color! I have always been a brunette! Hope you had a great date! Can’t wait to see what he thought! What about Dexter? Did he seem to know you right away? I remember my youngest brother not being too sure about my mom when she went back to brunette after being blond all of his life! You look awesome Jenna, in either color!

September 16, 2011 at 9:22 pmDUDE! I realize this is a very old post but I’ve read Lunch in Paris twice, the first time I picked it up because of the title and ended up buying cappuccino and more cappuccino to keep on reading it, then broke down, bought it, and haven’t been the same since. I hope you found similar enjoyment from it because I absolutely love the way Elizabeth Bard writes, and I think every American woman should read that book. I’d be curious to know your thoughts!
