Breakfast

Catch Up Day

oh my gosh, I am SO glad to have today off from work so I can get stuff done around the house! Cleaning is what I’m mainly talking about because it often gets pushed to the side when I am constantly in a rush going from work to school to bed everyday! I’ve been pretty productive so far—it’s only 9:00 and I’ve already swept the floors, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned the toilets, cleaned the litter box and I’m about to give Dex a good brushing then start vacuuming. I also have a major report due tomorrow in class that, um, I haven’t started on yet so I’m sure that will take the majority of the day to write!

For breakfast I made more oatmeal because I was freezing when I woke up, despite Dexter being snuggled up next to my feet! I used soy milk, dried cranberries, almond butter and banana again and it was really yummy. Now I’m all out of oats! 🙁 Grocery shopping is also on my to-do list today.

I don’t have pictures from last night because we didn’t finish anything again. It’s amazing how much prep work goes into these pastries. It’s literally impossible to finish in one night because everything has to chill for so long in the fridge and there are sooo many steps. My chef instructor from last class though came in to my class last night and brought me a loaf of homemade 100% whole wheat bread because he knows how much I love it, so I will be enjoying that during the next few days for sure!

Back to the grind!

Hooray for a day off from work – you need it!! Enjoy :0)

I can only imagine just how much prep work DOES go into making all those intricately-constructed baked goods – no worries about no photographs! I’ll just envision the goodies :0)

Wow, what a sweet chef-instructor you have – so lovely that he brought you a wholesome, hearty loaf of bread!

    Enjoy your Thursday morning/afternoon!

It looks like Dex has adjusted well to his new life with you! He looks like the king of the castle in that picture! Enjoy your day off! It is incredible how many steps those pastries take. The class I took made me realize why pastries can be pricey!

Book Lovers! (I posted this on Kath’s blog too)

Okay, I just finished up my book last night. I usually have two in line waiting to be read but now I have NOTHING. I’m going to B&N today to get something new and I need help!

I am a self-proclaimed chick lit fan (sorry to the chic lit haters) but i also love a book that has a good story line and can keep me captivated. I loved Water for Elephants so much that I immediatly read Sara Gruen’s other two novels and liked them as well. They are horse books but I’m a horse person so….

Okay, anyways, a little help would be great! What are your favorites? What could you not put down? I go through a book a week so I have read a lot. I’m always looking for something new. Thanks!

I have to say, Dex might be the cutest cat I’ve ever seen. I’m tempted to go to the shelter and get one!!!!

    enjoy your day off!

Oh, I know, cleaning is the one thing I keep delaying… You should see my apartment… But you’re very efficient!
With your job, it is actually the best thing of it, in my opinion: every little piece involves lots of work and dedication. It’s like jewelery!

Hello, i’ve been reading your site for awhile but never comment, i love your site, you have given me great ideas on how to eat well as a busy student. i have a general question, about vegetarianism/veganism. For awhile I’ve been toying with the idea of going vegetarian because it seems healthier and also because of the cruelty that goes on in slaughterhouses, etc. However, i’ve never thought of giving up wearing leather shoes/ bags ( i would never wear fur by the way), do vegetarians wear leather? i would feel kind of like a hypocrite wearing leather although i might not eat meat, what are your thoughts? sorry for such a long post, keep up the great work and your new kitty is such so cute!

    all that before 9???
    wow!!
congrats and thanks for the constant inspiration

to JENNA ALEXANDRA: when i became vegetarian i decided to not throw away my leather bag and a couple of leather shoes i had because that would be environmentally….well…stupid…since ive already bought them, but i dont buy anything new thats leather…once you start thinking about where it comes from you wont want it anywhere near you!
    i hope that helps!!

I love days when I actually feel like being productive and accomplish a ton, and it definitely seems to be as if you’re having one of those days! one question, i’ve noticed a lack of hemp milk from the blog. is it very expensive or are you just switching things up for a change of pace?
