Hi guys!
Well, things are certainly getting busy over here! This morning I went to a lovely yoga class til 9:45 and then came home and snacked on this big honeycrisp apple before deciding on the dessert menu for tomorrow
And the dessert verdict is……………………French black walnut cake with homemade honey thyme ice cream. I’ll be using this cookbook:
This one is a beauty. I just love Amanda Hesser….always have. Her book “Cooking for Mr. Latte” is wonderful as well. She wrote this cookbook/memoir about her apprenticeship at a French home in Burgundy. The recipes are categorized according to the seasons and highlight seasonal produce and traditional Provincial fare. Its a good one!
I made a grilled cheese sammie on olive bread and a big bowl of pacific brand tomato soup for lunch:
And then I went with my mom and Margaret to the tiny Italian butcher/deli to pick up the tenderloin for tomorrow….I think they got about 15 lbs total….wow!!!!!! The shop has an amazing Italian bakery section and I bought a homemade anise biscotti to nibble on-—
Aaaaaaaamazing. I love anything and everything anise and this biscotti was perfectly crumbly and heavenly scented. Delicious π
I’m off to the mall (unfortunately) to pick up some last gifts then to the grocery store (again unfortunately…its going to be insane) to get the necessary ingredients for the dessert. I have to start the ice cream base tonight so it’ll be ready in time for tomorrow.
I hope everyone’s day is going well and if you can find a moment for yoga, I’m sure your body would thank you for it…especially in times of holiday induced stress!! (road rage for me getting to the mall!)

December 23, 2008 at 1:02 pmhi Jenna yoga mama! Oh my yes yoga and Christmas movies are saving our sanity up here in snowland. π
I love reading about your eats! Have a wonderful time tonight. That cake will be delish, no doubt.
What book do you have on Auryveda? I just found my David Swenson Ashtanga book… it had been lost in the van (hehe when you have kids, things can get lost in no time) and it’s so fun to read and look at!
Have a fab day, girl! Is R coming for dinner too, I am sure he’ll want to get in on that cake, too!

December 23, 2008 at 2:00 pmHi Miss Polly!
I have “The Quick and Easy Ayurvedic Cookbook” by Keavy Smith and I also have another book on doshas that I can’t seem to find anywhere right now! Boo! Ryan won’t be coming to dinner (double boo!) because he has a HUGE family (of like 30 people that all live in the same town) and they do a big Christmas eve dinner as well. In the past Ryan has always come to my house for Christmas Eve and then I go to his family’s house for Christmas Day since Christmas Eve is my mom’s favorite day and we never do anything big on the actual day….except this year I am flying up to North Carolina with all his family on Christmas afternoon for the weekend!

December 23, 2008 at 2:05 pmThis is going to sound so silly….but can you teach me how to make grilled cheese???? Everytime I try, I end up burning the bread and it’s never good. Yours looks delicious!

December 23, 2008 at 2:08 pmSo you’ve made me want an apple real bad. And also grilled cheese and tomato sandwich like when I was little, only healthier, gourmet-ier, and natural :]

December 23, 2008 at 4:39 pmJenna,
Good call on doing some yoga today. I’m going to give it a whirl to let the holiday anxiety settle a little, even if I don’t quite feel a burn in my muscles. I could really use some nice deep breaths.
Maybe along with your cook book, down the road you could right a yoga book. I love your passion for it.

December 23, 2008 at 6:19 pmThat grilled cheese looks delicious and tomatoes soup. Iβm still trying to cut a little fat and gain muscle so I have to have a little less carbs then that, and a lot more protein, but I could do half a sandwich with some chicken on the side, and a fresh salad =)β¦mouth still wateringβ¦Yum!

December 23, 2008 at 7:13 pmJenna, I really love silk vanilla soymilk. Is there much of a difference in taste between the regular and the light? I haven’t tried the light one yet but I notice that’s what you drink. It feels like a random question but I have been meaning to ask. Thanks!!

December 24, 2008 at 9:56 amYou’re right, I need a little yoga. Maybe that’s what I’ll do at work today since everyone else is gone.
