Well, I wasn’t so tired before but now I feel like I’ve hit the wall. I’M EXHAUSTED!
Right after I posted last, I ended up going out to the mall with Ryan so he could return some christmas presents. I snacked on fresh pineapple on the way–
We didn’t end up getting home until about 5:30 because of traffic and at that point I wanted to throw in the bag and just eat and go to sleep but I knew I would sleep better if I did a little yoga first like I had planned.
So, I tried a new class! I did the 40 minute intermediate hip opening flow from yogadownloads. It was just what I needed—tons of deep forward folds and pigeon poses (along with a powerful vinyasa). It definitely will help me sleep like a baby tonight!
I find that on the weekdays now I really don’t even crave dinner. I think its because I’m just so tired by the end of the day that I just want something light so I can go to bed soon after. Does anyone else that works wonky hours feel this way?! Tonight I reheated the masoor dal I made last week and combined it with half of a warm whole wheat naan and a babybell cheese. I was really craving the cheese so I had it even though it made the dinner sort of random!
I ate about 95% of this—leaving behind a piece of naan and a scoop of dal. Just couldn’t swing it. Too tired 🙁
I am currently sipping on one of my favorite nighttime teas—
And I’m about to take a bubble bath, pop a melatonin and read in bed until I pass out. It might be rather soon! Tomorrow after work I am going back to Anisha, the Ayurvedic Physician that I told you guys about last week. I have an hour appointment to discuss Ayurvedic diet and nutrition as related to my particular symptoms and dosha type. I’ve been looking forward to this appointment and I can’t wait to listen to everything she has to say! Its so interesting to me!
I hope everyone has a great night and I will be back tomorrow!
Night night! =)

January 19, 2009 at 5:47 pmI feel pretty similar by nighttime on the days I intern at the bakery. When I get done there I usually end up eating a big lunch and by dinnertime I barely care about eating and just want my bed! I assume its because for the amount of time I’ve been awake at lunch its similar to when I’d normally be having a snack or early dinner…I’m sure once you are settled in your new schedule your appetite will somewhat regulate itself again.

January 19, 2009 at 7:17 pmOn nights I get home later than normal, my appetite (which is usually enormous) is almost non-existent, too, even if I’ve had a big workout that day. I’ll still eat something, but all my body wants to do is sleep!
p.s. I’m not such a chamomile tea fan, but I’m loving the celestial seasonings sugar cookie tea! i just found a store that’s still carrying some and loaded up — i’m in heaven 🙂

January 19, 2009 at 7:57 pmI know when I worked the night shift I ended up eating two meals and a snack. I usually came straight home, had some milk, and went to sleep…no food for me!

January 19, 2009 at 8:17 pmI hope you’re able to relax and get a full night of sleep tonight.
I find if I work later then usual, I feel so thrown off that eating is my last priority, I forget to eat at that point lol.

January 19, 2009 at 9:07 pmI am ALWAYS like that! I just want a snack after I work after school. Sometimes I just make a bunch of snacky things….it still seems lighter to me than one big meal.

January 19, 2009 at 9:21 pmHey Jenna! I just wanted to make sure you knew about the peanut butter related recall . . . I saw on the news that peanut butter cookie Larabars and peanut butter blisscrisp JamFrakas snacks have been recalled. I know you get Larabars a lot, so I was worried!

January 19, 2009 at 9:37 pmI was sad when I just read the Babybel cheese I bought is a processed cheese,so not a healthy choice! Boo hoo!

January 19, 2009 at 9:57 pmAhhh, Pigeon Pose is one of my favorites! I used to wait tables, and when I’d get home late at night after having not eaten anything since early afternoon, I was often too tired to eat. I would make myself eat a little something, but I never wanted anything heavy.
Can’t wait to hear about your appointment tomorrow. Have a good night Jenna…with lots of sleep I hope. 🙂
Ryan
January 19, 2009 at 10:41 pmI might have to pick up some melatonin too in order to get to sleep earlier because I’ll lay in bed for hours knowing that I have to get up at the crack of dawn the next day. However, if I don’t have to get up early, I can crash like “that”. Exhibit A: I’m awake right now when I should have been sleeping 2 hours ago. Hope you’re getting lots of sleep right now!!

January 19, 2009 at 11:03 pmhey jenna, i am curious- how do you think ayurvedic medicine fits in with christianity… i’m christian too and ayurvedic medicine interests me.. do you feel they are separate from each other?
p.s. you are awesome for talking about your faith on the blog
jenna
January 20, 2009 at 11:55 amMargot,
I think it depends on the person as to what they believe about the subject. Religion is super touchy so I would rather not go any further with the question than that! I’m sorry–I hope you understand!
Mariposa,
Absolutely not! Its just chamomile has been used as a sleep inducing/relaxing herb for centuries. I like to drink this all day though–its so yummy!
Treasa,
Unfortunately that’s something my 18 year old brother randomly brought home from a friend’s house one day that now permanently resides with us! haha 🙂

January 20, 2009 at 10:22 amoh that tea looks so good! i might have to snag some.. is it only a nighttime tea though??? : )
the new schedule i think will take time to get used to, when i worked nights and switched to days it took a couple of months before i was used to going to bed at 9 and waking up at 6…
