Dessert/ Dinner

Family Meal

Mmm…dinner turned out really tasty tonight. Like I said before, I made Chicken Saltimbocca (chicken cutlets wrapped in proscuitto), moroccan-style couscous and sauteed brussel sprouts with parmesan. I had a glass of red wine as well with my dinner. I’ve made the chicken recipe before and it is really really easy, really tasty and only uses a few ingredients. I like to cook it for others because it looks so showy, yet only takes a few minutes to prepare and put in the oven! I put the recipe for it and the couscous in the “recipes” section of the blog.

After dinner Ryan and I went to my favorite frozen yogurt place. Guys, let me tell you, this place is amazing! They use skim milk and splenda to make their frozen yogurt, and while usually I like the real stuff or gelato if I’m going to eat ice cream, this stuff is absolutely amazing. The 8 ounce serving of my peanut butter frozen yogurt was only 80 calories!!! Of course, because it was only 80 calories I had them put on mini-chocolate chips on it and it was to die for. The 8 ounce serving is the “medium” sized. I could have gotten the small one and it would have only been 40 calories. Crazy! And its satisfying too!

This meal came to about 550 calories, glass of wine included.

Wow that dessert looks amazing! Unfortunately where I live we don’t have anything like that, but a new gelato place just opened. I have never tried gelato before, is it a lot less in calories than ice cream?

I’m new to your blog and loving it! 🙂

    Sara-
Yes, gelato DOES have less fat and calories than ice cream! hooray!! That’s because gelato is made with milk, not egg yolks like ice cream. Its also whipped with a lot more air into it and that makes it taste so rich and creamy but with more than half the fat. i LOVE gelato!!!

    hk-
The name of the frozen yogurt place is D’lite. Its tastes so rich and bad for you but its not! I love it- too bad there’s not one in Orlando! I think its a chain though and started somewhere else in florida so I might google them if you are interested!

We just got a new place here called “Spoon Me” that I think may be offering the same thing. I’m not sure where you live, but I guess they have the “healthy frozen yogurt that is popular on the west coast!” and it’s 80 calories a serving… but they didn’t say how much that is, hehe!

I hate when they don’t specify how much makes up the mysterious serving. At this place they clearly label, 4 ounces=40 cal., 8 ounces=80 cal. Makes it so much easier!

Next time I am having an ice cream craving I’m going to check out the new gelato place instead 🙂

let me know how you like it! Gelato is one of my favorite things in this world….the best was when I would buy it from little stands in the South of France (Nice) when I was there last summer…you know its the best quality then!
