I’m having a day.
There’s been a long list of grievances, including a sandwich gone flying and a parking ticket, but we won’t get into it. I’m trying to shake it off myself and don’t want to relieve the bad memories.
So, instead of my self pity over the flying sandwich that resulted in a steering wheel covered with raspberry jam, let me show it to you pre-disaster.

So good. I think this is a KERF creation—-tempeh, jam and swiss cheese? Maybe? Regardless, it was probably the best tempeh sandwich I’ve made and I will be repeating. But not eating while driving. Ever again. Jam on the steering wheel = sticky hands trying to pour wine at work. Fail.
I also had a pear and I managed to eat that with some grace.
Work was fun and I ate a new bar that I’ll admit I was a little nervous about initially. It seems like half of the blog world loves this and the other half hates it. I like weird things so I decided to try it.
And….I LOVED IT. Yes, yes, yes I did! In all its pea protein and weird sea ingredient glory….I loved the crunch (buckwheat crispies?). But…be warned: I like weird things that not everyone likes. My taste buds are tainted from years of spinach smoothies and whole wheat pasta.
Because I was in a funk, the boyfriend took me to dinner here. While I’m in Philly sipping cocktails with the girls and learning the benefits of an all new vegetarian fish oil, he is going on some super-man-adventure-road-trip to the grand canyon, vegas, flagstaff and all up the California coast. The good news is that he is bringing back both his best friend for the summer and Wilus, a large basset hound.
Back to dinner.
I had a glass of Iron Horse chardonnay-nay

June 2, 2010 at 9:08 pmI am such a failure at eating while driving, but I continue to try anyway. Never ends well! Sorry to hear about your day, at least tomorrow you’ll be in Philly learning about vegetarian fish oil? 🙂

June 2, 2010 at 9:26 pmI love Vega Vibrancy bars and think they are absolutely amazing. The “Chocolate Decadence” is especially good (of course). I just wish they were more readily available in the New York metropolitan area — or for purchase online as a variety box, which doesn’t seem to exist at present. The last place I spotted them was while out of town at a Whole Foods Market in San Rafael, CA!

June 2, 2010 at 9:32 pmThat salad looks really good. I bet it tasted great with the wine and cheese.
Those bars I’ve wanted to try, but they seem so expensive at WF. Worth the try?

June 2, 2010 at 10:03 pmHurray for a basset hound! I didn’t know spinach smoothies and whole wheat pasta messed up the taste buds … guess I’m screwed up too : p

June 3, 2010 at 4:42 amI can’t wait to see pics of this basset hound! I love basset hounds. They’re so adorable with those huge floppy ears and sad eyes! They always remind me of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, for some reason.

June 3, 2010 at 4:57 amI’ve wasted so much of my money on parking tickets…
I have a question: would you stay somewhere for a job because the location is ideal….or would you go somewhere pretty small and isolated for a lot of money that could pay off your loans in a year or two (the majority anyways)…and suck it up??
Anyone??!
Sarah
June 3, 2010 at 5:26 amIf you have a huge loan, I’d take the good job and pay it off. Once you are debt-free you can move somewhere more ideal and you won’t have the stress of a bad financial situation weighing you down. It’s a sacrifice for sure, but I think it’s worth it.

June 3, 2010 at 8:44 amReally? Thanks…I just worry cause it’s a really, really small town…I mean not cool…

June 3, 2010 at 8:56 amSometimes I fantisize about doing just that. I mean, think how low the cost of living will be! As someone whose paid an arm and a leg for a studio in a big city for years, the thought of a few years in a small town, with an actual bedroom, room to park, maybe a yard…sounds great! And if you have room for them to stay, people will come visit you. Plus with the money you’re saving you can afford to go visit them! I say do it. Good luck!
Corinne (breathe and savor)
June 3, 2010 at 9:59 amgo where you think you would be most happy! if you aren’t happy in the small town you will regret it no matter what! the loans will get paid off…i think your happiness should come first 🙂 good luck!

June 3, 2010 at 7:57 amHow do taste buds get tainted from spinach smoothies and whole wheat pasta? I LOVE both of those things. =P
WW pasta tastes SO much better than its slimier cousin. But I tend to dislike most foods, even ones that others love!
