Girlfriends Make It Better

Boy, has the weather ever turned here! One minute I was sitting with Sarah outside at Starbucks in the sunshine and the next minute it was gusty winds and pouring rain. Crazy! I think I might have found a new obsession—-Starbuck’s new vanilla rooibos tea latte. Holy Yum!!!!!!

It was sooooooooo yummy! This could be quite the dangerous addiction though since every morning on my way to work I pass right by a 24 hour Starbucks. Eeek!

Sarah and I chatted for a solid 1 1/2 hours! It was so nice! We have a ton in common and I miss hanging out with girlfriends. I had such a solid group of girls growing up but then we all graduated from high school, went to separate colleges, graduated from college and now live miles apart all over the country. I’m so thankful for finally being able to connect with someone here in Tampa. We talked about what bible study we want to do and both agreed on Beth Moore but we are still looking further to decide which one. Her newest study is on the book of Esther and I think it looks really really interesting. Has anyone does this yet?

I gave a little happy dance when I got home because this was waiting for me!

Thanks, Quaker!! I can’t wait to test this out on Sunday morning! 🙂

I helped my mom fold laundry for awhile (while having a glass of wine) before dinner. No yoga today. I think I’ve been using it sort of as a “crutch” lately to fall asleep at night….telling myself I “can’t fall asleep without practicing 90 minutes of yoga”, which is sort of ridiculous if you think about it. I don’t like to over-do anything, especially exercise since my job is SO physically demanding and active as is. Yoga is wonderful but I want to do it for the right reasons. So, tonight will be the “test”. Hopefully I will sleep since last night it took me about 3 hours to finally get to sleep :(.

For dinner my mom made this amazing buffalo chicken in the slow cooker! The recipe is from the Southern Living Cookbook and it was really good but suuuuuper spicy (even for me!)

img_4648

She didn’t use bacon and we didn’t have any blue cheese crumbles….but it was still really really tasty!

After dinner I ate an orange and the last cookie for dessert 😉

Its only 6:00 but I’m totally ready for a bubble bath and my book. I’m finishing up Danielle Steel’s “The Kiss”, which is sort of old school but very entertaining and nice for an easy read. Tomorrow after work I am going to head over to St.Pete to meet Ryan for a late lunch! I’ve been looking forward to it all week =)

I hope everyone has a great night and a wonderful Friday morning tomorrow! Talk to you soon!

I suggest you try real rooibos tea. The Tazo tea they sell at Starbucks is such a bastardization of the genuine article. They put tons of sugar in it and they water it down (this I know from a friend who works at Starbucks). Rooibos tea (if you get it in its “pure” form, as a reddish pine needle-like herb) is damn fantastic all on its own, though places like Teavana try to blend it with jasmine teas and cups of sugar to suit the unhealthy American palette.

I love that heart shaped pancake mold! That is awesome they sent you that cute package. Let us know how the mix tastes! That salad looks so good, buffalo sauce makes everything taste amazing! Hope you sleep well! I am usually just getting off of work when you are heading to work, so I totally understand how hard it is to adjust to abnormal sleeping hours! I still haven’t quite figured out how to adjust completely!

I LOVE Roobios tea, I’m excited that Starbucks has it. TJ makes a really great Red Roobios Chai.

Wine while folding laundry?! THAT’S the secret to make it more enjoyable!

Rooibos tea is the shizz. I love it. You should try a bunch of different kinds – I like the looseleaf kind that you put in a cloth teabag yourself. It’s so sweet even without sweetener!

Rooibos is the best. It has much of the same antioxidants of green tea without the caffeine. Fab.

Girlfriends really do make our lives better – and it can be hard to make them once you’re out of college, I’m glad you have someone to connect with! Good luck with sleeping.

    hi jenna girl!
Oh Esther… i love that story. I was in a Bible study and read through the book and discussed each week. It was pretty instense and amazing. I learned a TON! Now the Bible study leader, Karen, is in my weekly group yoga class!! I love it!! She is a beautiful yogini and woman who loves the Lord. How crazy how life works sometimes. I say go for Esther… it’s pretty cool.

Oh I love your eats!! Have fun with R tomorrow and I hope you sleep tonight like a baby bear. 😉

    Prayers and hugs always, XOXO

I’ve done yoga two nights in a row – from a non-frequent practicer – and I slept straight through the night both nights. That is UNHEARD of for me! I always wake up at least once. I think it was the yoga. 🙂

It’s so important to have close girlfriends! I’m trying to make more friends right now too, because I’ve noticed a void lately. I met up with a HS friend of mine last week after not seeing her for a long time, and we talked for hours! It was so fabulous 🙂

I’m glad you got to connect with a girlfriend! Everyone needs that face time! I’ve never done a study on Esther but I have done one on Ruth and that is definately one of my most favorite books in the Bible. ugh…it’s such a great love picture! I think I told you before but I’m doing a bible study with a friend on all the women in the bible. I’m really enjoying it!

Oh and I love Danielle Steel novels, she was my mom’s favorite author when she was younger and actually named me after her, so i kind of felt like I had to read her books. They are fun fast reads.
