ahhhhhhh today has been a thoroughly enjoyed “jenna-day” if there has ever been one. Later this morning I made a shake for an early lunch using a scoop of pom. mango amazing meal, half a frozen banana, a handful of frozen strawberries and blueberries, raw spinach, a cup of almond milk and some naturally more pb—-
It was perfecttttttt 🙂
Then, on a total whim, I booked myself an hour massage. Let me preface by saying I am a total spa junkie. I ADORE massages…but haven’t had one for 3 YEARS! I’m a big believer in the power of human touch (aka I like to cuddle!) and believe massages are a necessary part of whole body wellness. Unfortunately, however, they come with a price tag. But…. I feel like it’s one of those things that is really worth it. On that note, I’m going to start a massage fund–saving a little bit here and there—and treating myself to a really nice one once a month. The one I had today was absolutely glorious and I could just feel all my tension and stress melting away. I have a lot on my mind right now and it was the perfect medicine. Afterward I felt like a whole new woman!
As my body was still all warm and loose from my massage, when I got home I did an hour of yoga! Honestly, it was probably the best yoga I’ve done in a very long time. My whole body just felt wide open and I was super bendy and flexy. 🙂
Snacked on a half cup of TJ’s yogurt with some dried cherries and a quarter cup of this yummy Swiss muesli that a reader sent me ages ago but I never opened till now. This muesli reminded me of France….really yummy and crunchy but not overly sweet like American granola can be.
And then………
Fried Chicken Night!!
Representing Texas, Georgia and Florida, the three of us make up the misplaced Southerners in California. I thought this was the perfect short story idea but Adam, of course, took it one step further and is making a video…..to be released!
Had a glass of Stryker Zin—
And pure love on a platter:
Oh my gosh, it’s so good. I don’t even know what else to say. The little movie should be great though! 😉

November 22, 2009 at 10:02 pmWhat a great day! I am envious of both your smoothie and massage. But, you’re right, something that does so many good things for your physical and mental well-being must be worth it; it shows — you look aglow!

November 23, 2009 at 3:22 amJenna-I just bought a sample pack of Amazing Grass but I love the container you have to shake the stuff up in…where did you get it? I looked on the website and couldn’t find one. Besides using a blender, I don’t have the best “shake up” method and that amazing grass container looks great!!!
Thanks!

November 23, 2009 at 3:52 amMassage, yoga, fried chicken. That sounds to me like an awesome trio of components to incorporate into one’s day. I totally agree with you on massages. I NEVER get them (due to the price) the last one I received was around seven years ago on a cruise. It was incredible. Your passage about the benefits of massages has inspired me to book one. I carry a lot of stress in my upper back and shoulders (large chest) and it always leaves me with kinks and aches. Time to invest in my body’s happiness!

November 23, 2009 at 4:14 amYou need to have MORE “Jenna days” 🙂

November 23, 2009 at 4:48 amLOVE massages! I’m getting one today, actually! My husband set it up as a post-1/2 marathon reward! BTW, your hair looks cute in braids like that!
What kind of pickles were those on the side? They look kind of like these marinated pickles that my aunt makes that are sweet, but also spicy…they are to die for.

November 23, 2009 at 6:26 amOh man, I have never had a professional massage! I would try it but then I may be hooked and the husband may not appreciate my monthly massage expenditures. 😉 Glad you enjoyed and had some amazing yoga to follow. Sounds like an incredibly amazing day. I’m from Florida and people don’t realize that we’re from the south too! Glad you enjoyed some yummy southern cooking and I can’t wait to see the video! 🙂

November 23, 2009 at 6:59 amI love massages! I got one a few months ago and I really think it helped my hamstring injury. I think massages are essential for runners! Just wish I had a little more $$, so I could get them more often!

November 23, 2009 at 7:07 amI loooove massages. I treated myself to one on Wednesday and it was seriously amazing!! I also tried accupuncture for the first time the other day. There is something very wise about alternative medicines like that I think!

November 24, 2009 at 3:13 amSo I’ve followed your blog for a while but have never commented. Would you believe that my motivation for commenting would be on the wine you get to drink?! I was out there a few years ago and discovered so many wines I couldn’t get in FL (where i was) and MA (where i am now). Sawyer, Stryker…I’m jealous! Go find Porter Creek and try their Zin. Yum!
