Trucking Along

Hello, hello!

Now I am sort of regretting putting that awful tired picture on the internet for the whole world to see….I really look horrible!!!! Praying for good, good sleep tonight! I was at the store re-stocking our spinach and banana stash and found myself pondering over the eye gels and masks but they all were like $30 so I nixed the idea quite fast. Oh well.

This afternoon I DID get to the gym for some cardio, which like always, really really helped! I spent 30 minutes pumping and working—15 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes speed walking on an incline on the treadmill. Tomorrow I shall run my two miles! Woohoo!

Speaking of the gym, is the locker room scale getting you down?? As we all know, the number the scale reads really isn’t a good representation of your total health; as we all know, lean muscle weighs more than fat! My fellow True/Slant co-journalist, Katie, addresses this issue in her article, Your Ideal Self (numericized).

So, after my workout I felt the need for even MORE greens so I snacked on one of my faves:

IMG_1039.JPG

I do love these things….and the ingredient list is just awesome! Speaking of Amazing Grass, have you taken advantage of the special 40% discount on the 2lb tubs of Amazing Meal yet?? Seriously this is a once in a lifetime offer! If you thought my eyes looked puffy in my godzilla picture then, you should have seen them pre-grass. Scary.

Just type in the special code: EatLiveRun40%AM at checkout and you get the once $70 container for only $41…..plus a super sweet shaker for free. Come on now!

For the rest of the afternoon I just worked, worked, worked. Then, it was dinner time. I didn’t have the energy to cook something tonight and looked to the black whole, which is my freezer, for inspiration. In the end, I picked my very, very, VERY favorite “trash food”—-

IMG_1040.JPG
Okay, when I say trashy I really don’t mean trashy. It could get so much worse than this. If all natural vegetarian pad thai is the trashiest frozen meal I eat, I think I’m doing pretty good. In my latest True/Slant article I address the scary frozen aisle of the grocery store. What do you buy? What should you look out for? What do I buy?

Well I do buy this once in awhile because it is the most authentic pad thai EVER and I adore every greasy strand of noodle. Sooooooo good!

IMG_1042.JPG
I moaned with unbridled pleasure at every last bite.
But even better (how could it possibly get better?!), there was something else amazing from the freezer that made an appearance!

IMG_1043.JPG
I’ve never tried this flavor before but it was LOVE at first spoonful. Seriousy.the.best.ice cream.i’ve.ever.had. Well except gelato in Paris but that’s in a class of its own. This was freakin’ amazing and for those non-coconut lovers out there, you couldn’t taste the coconut milk in the slightest bit. All I could taste was pure coffee heaven. Creamy coffee flavored ice cream with fudge ribbons and crunchy almonds. I won’t lie—after this small bowl I totally went back for another (large) spoonful from the freezer.

Find this crack at your local Whole Foods or large supermarket. It knocked my socks off.
We have big Friday night plans: nothing. I’m so tired all I want to do is go to sleep and tomorrow is going to be a big fun day because I have a special secret lunch date!!!!!! Oh, and its our 3 year anniversary 🙂
See you tomorrow bloggies!

That flavor sounds so good! I really want to take advantage of the 40% off offer, but I’m so hesitant. I’m afraid I may not like it, which I guess would make me the one and only. 😉

Thanks for posting the link to your article about buying frozen foods. I find myself looking at that section of the grocery store more and more as I try to bring my lunch to the office every day. And you’re right, your “trashy” food isn’t really trashy. Enjoy that ice cream!

Totally yum about that Ice Cream… Mocha + Almond + Fudge??? What more could you ask for???

Enjoy your relaxing evening and get to bed early! You deserve a good night’s rest and need your beauty sleep for the big day tomorrow! 🙂

With the Amazing Grass… which flavor did you end up liking the best in your smoothies? The Green Superfood, Wheatgrass, Chocolate, or Berry??? I’m weary of trying the flavored one in my smoothie and was wondering your opinion?

Jenna, I’m so jealous of your pad thai. If your eyes are still puffy tomorrow, you may want to try my Grammy’s trick…hemorrhoid cream! I know it sounds gross, but she used to swear by it. I’ll admit it, I’ve tried it a few times after some long nights and it’s worked! You can’t go wrong with Gram’s advice 🙂

Jenna, even when you’re tired you look beautiful! 🙂 I just ordered my pomegranate mango flavor of the Amazing Grass. I’m so excited!!! I have the little kid version of the chocolate one so I thought a nice fruit flavor would be good too. Plus now I’ll have a great shaker to use all these powders! I’m trying to get away from some of the junk snacks I eat so I think having a good Amazing grass drink instead will be perfect!

Not trying to be mean or snarky, just an honest question – doesn’t lean muscle just take up less space than fat? A pound is a pound.

When I had an extreme ice cream craving the other day, I went to the super market and that was the only flavor and I was a bit hesitant because I don’t like the plain vanilla coconut milk one, but I was so surprised that I LOVED IT! I don’t even usually like coffee flavored things!

I LOVE that Pad Thai! It is soooooo good. I just wanted to give you a heads up (although this is obviously the company and not you) that the promotional code will not go through for me. Which is sad, because I got super excited to order the product I’ve been so jealous of 🙂

Hey Jenna. I really enjoy your site and check it every few days for some good, healthy inspiration. If I could offer a bit of constructive feedback though – you’re really pushing the Amazing Meal stuff…a bit over the top and it feels like advertising to be honest. It’s taking away from the usual fresh feel of your blogs and makes me wonder what percentage you’re getting from Amazing Meal for any sales that come from your site. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, however it does change the tone of your blog and feels a bit ham-fisted. That’s just food for thought on an otherwise fantastic blog.

Happy Anniversary! I hope you guys have a great time celebrating.
Thank you for forwarding my Amazing Meal question to Brandon. He did in fact tell me that AM is gluten free and that he has a lot of customers with celiac and intolerances. Now I just need to go and get some of that magical powder, don’t I?

You looked beautiful in the picture!!

I just got hooked on a tiramisu gelato from a local store in my area and it is delightful. I was never a fan of coffee ice creams until now, I need to look for that coconut milk one. I love the coconut milk ice creams!

That ice cream is dangerous! It’s so funny because I had the same exact flavor last week. I have a bunch of food intolerances so there’s not much I can eat. I haven’t had ice cream in at least a year and decided to try it as an extra special treat. I started off measuring out one serving. That turned into 2 which turned into 3. Thank God there’s only 4 servings in the container! I can’t ever buy it again-unless I split it with my husband. It’s THAT good!

Here is a quick fix for puffy and tired eyes: couple slices of cucumber or a couple of tea bags. Not a cure all, but sure does help, plus things you probably have around for whenever puffy and tired eyes may strike.

The Tandoor Chef Palak Paneer is my favorite frozen food ever. Just love it with their frozen naan. Too bad it’s so expensive.
