Lunch

My Favorite

For lunch today I picked up my weekend favorite: kale salad/red pepper hummus/tabouli wrap from the Village Health Market (for you Tampa folks!). It came with the delicious veggie chips I eat compulsively! I also had a piece of extra dark chocolate for dessert. 🙂

Ryan and I are over at my parent’s house right now. Ryan’s watching basketball and I’m about to help my mom unpack Easter decorations. I think we are going to either going to try this new Asian restaurant in town: Pei Wei, or just go out for pizza tonight before going to see The Other Boleyn Girl! I’m forcing Ryan to take me because he picked the last movie we saw (Superbad). I’ve read The Other Boleyn Girl twice and am pretty much obsessed with it, so you can imagine my excitement over going to see the movie! Too bad books are always, always better!

Hey Jenna- Pei Wei is just the fast food version (well faster and more casual version) of P.F. Changs. It’s owned by the same company. It’s very good though. I love their spring rollls. Mmmmmm….. I would go for pizza myself. I think that is what the hubby and I are going to do tonight. A big cheeseless pizza with lots of veggies. I’ll gobble the whole thing up. 🙂 Have a good Sunday!

Jenna, that photo of your lunch looks SO colorful! YUM! I’m not extremely hungry for lunch but just that photo inspires me to go make lunch right after I finish typing this! That pup is so cute. I can’t believe you don’t like apple butter, maybe it was rancid when you tried it? Haha anyways, I hope the rest of your sunday is as delicious as can be!

Have fun at the movie! I dragged my boyfriend to see it yesterday, but while the previews were playing, ridiculous wind gusts knocked the power out in the theater and throughout the entire mall where the theater is! It was crazy; they had to send us all home with free movie passes. I was just glad that the movie hadn’t actually started yet because that would have been much worse. But I’m sure you’ll get to see the whole thing!

    Hey Jenna & friends,
    Guess what?! I’m in France!!!!
I’m visiting my best friend (a girl that lived with me as an exchange student during my senior year of high school) and it’s absolutely fabulous! She lives a half hour outside of Paris and because she’ll be in classes all day tomorrow, I’m venturing in… alone :). I’m really excited/nervous because although I’ve been before, I have yet to use the little French I know to explore such an amazing city. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do? I’ve toured the major sites but I’d love to get an insider’s scoop on places to go/see/eat at (my favorite option of the 3, haha), and Jenna, since you spent a few weeks there not too long ago I figured you could help. Thanks so much! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Your dog is absolutely adorable! I used to have a big German Shepherd and I was in love with her, but I’m moving into my own little apartment next year so I couldn’t get another big dog. I was considering a small one like a puggle though, I love them.
Anyway, I really want to see The Other Boleyn Girl! I heard it was really good, and since I haven’t read the book yet, I don’t think it would disappoint! Hope you have fun Jenna!

I recently introduced those veggie chips to my family—the ENTIRE plastic container of them was gone in about 20 minutes flat haha

Pei Wei is my FAVORITE restaurant of all time. I’m sure you have already, but check out their menu online because they offer nutritional information (a rarity for Chinese food restaurants!). Seriously, we’ve had them out west for years and it is the BEST! I recommend the hot and sour soup…yummers!

Mmm…Pei Wei! I would highly recommend the Mongolian or Teriyaki sauces (you can basically pick a sauce and then pick the protein or veggies to go with it) — super good! They also have brown rice which is so nice because a lot of Chinese restaurants I’ve been to only have white or fried. Have fun tonight!

Hey Jenna–do you know of a recipe for the kale salad or maybe what might be in it? I love kale, so I’m always looking for new ideas on what to do with it!

Danielle–I wish I was there! I personally love just walking around the city, people watching and taking in the beautiful buildings. Also, going to the cafes is a must and just enjoying the atmosphere. I did those two things every single day! I love Paris, because it’s so beautiful and you don’t have go on a bunch of tours to enjoy the city. You must also have a nutella crepe…amazing. The baguettes are delicious, too! Hope you have a wonderful time.

    Danielle,
I’ve been living in Paris for 18 months now and agree some of the best moments are at a lazy cafe people watching and enjoying a good espresso. My husband is working here and I’m not, so I have found all kinds of ways to fill my time! Some of my favorites include long walks along the Seine, a Seine Boat Cruise (12 euros), the Petite Palais (free museum across from the Grand Palais off the Champs Elysees – Champs Elysees Clemenceau Metro stop), & the St. Germain des Pres neighborhood. I’ve done a few of these English led walks of different neighborhoods and would highly recommend them: http://www.paris-walks.com It’s about 10 euros and you just show up. The Montmarte one is great!!

Whatever you decide to do, relax and enjoy! Paris is a beautiful, safe and friendly city.

    Molly,

Yeah, that’s where we were! It was like 4:20 or 4:30, and all of a sudden BAM! No power. Then, of course, we had to wait in the exit line for about 20 minutes because EVERYONE was leaving and they were still making people pay their $1 even though the gates weren’t even working and people should have just driven out. Sigh. I hate when places do that.

I thought it was so strange, though, because it seemed like just that block didn’t have power! I only live like a mile away and my apartment never lost it either… Crazy city grid systems.

Pei Wei is so yummy! They have tofu, too– which is a huge plus. But if you go/went, you have to try their teas!

    Alex VA,

Not sure if you will see this- but how funny you live around there. I do too! I wanted to go by the mall (if you consider the common mall a “mall”) around 7p but the power was STILL out. So weird. Do you belong to that Sport & health? Thats my gym
