Hey hey 🙂
Hope everyone is having a lovely night. I just got home from a delightful little sushi date with Kelly! We hit up this fabulous spot in Santa Rosa called OSake. I’ve been on the prowl for an awesome sushi place since leaving Florida and this was right up there.
We shared a spicy prawn “martini” to start. Reminded me a lot of my beloved bang bang shrimp from Bonefish:
And I had a seaweed salad—

A spicy tuna roll covered in MORE seaweed salad 🙂

And then we shared a salmon avocado roll ’cause we were both still hungry after eating our respective rolls:

I love me some sushi!
***
This afternoon I snacked on a half cup of Oikos + a half cup of Kashi Go Lean while I pounded away on the laptop—

And I think I’m bout ready to take a bath and call it a night. I love going to sleep when it’s raining outside 🙂

December 15, 2009 at 9:35 pmi was wondering if because you work for a winery you get special perks when you go out to all these restaurants? do you get discounts? if not how do you afford the dishes when you have constant expenses? id like to learn from you.

December 15, 2009 at 9:41 pmSeriously, nothing beats good sushi. Looks delish! I wouldn’t say no to shrimp in a martini glass either 😉

December 15, 2009 at 9:48 pmI wish I liked sushi, because the presentation is so gorgeous. I need to make some veggie sushi just so I have an excuse to down pickled ginger and wasabi (and sake…who said that?!?).

December 15, 2009 at 10:12 pmSeaweed salad. So is sushi. Actually, I just love anything wrapped in nori 🙂 So yummy!

December 15, 2009 at 10:22 pmIt’s been so much fun for me to be able relate to your Sonoma County life as I have family there and lived there for 2 years myself. Osake is near my grandparents’ house and I have dined there several times. The owner of Osake owns a Chinese restaurant in downtown Santa Rosa – you should give it a try too =)

December 15, 2009 at 10:25 pmSeaweed salad is by far my favorite appetizer at sushi places…and a spicy tuna covered in it? Heaven! If you’re ever in Colorado you have to try Hapa Sushi…yum!

December 15, 2009 at 11:24 pmMmm love seaweed salad. Sushi was my dinner tonight — although I’m sure yours was better than my Whole Foods version. haha

December 16, 2009 at 2:45 amI love sushi! I haven’t gone out for sushi in ages unless grocery store sushi counts. We have really been trying to watch our budget and each time we go out for sushi we end up spending about $60 and we just can’t afford that right now.

December 16, 2009 at 3:26 amRain can serve as a lullaby when you’re trying to sleep. As long as thunder and lightning isn’t involved…haha. That sushi looks tremendous!

December 16, 2009 at 4:21 amSeaweed salad, yum! That sounds like the perfect refreshing, yet nutrient rich meal to have after hot yoga (lots of protein, some electrolytes, etc.)

December 16, 2009 at 4:30 amSushi is amazing, especially when you find a place where they know how to do it well! I went to an amazing sushi restaurant over the summer with a friend, and seeing the sushi here is sending me through withdrawals. 😉

December 16, 2009 at 4:55 amAhhh sushi. I love it! Unfortunately, my husband does not. After three attempts at trying three different places with three different types, I finally threw the towel in on convincing him he liked it, lol.
Good luck on the book writing!

December 16, 2009 at 5:05 amI have tried so hard to like sushi… But it’s literally the only food I don’t like. It sure does look pretty though 🙂

December 16, 2009 at 5:14 amIt is funny because I had to attend this orientation class for my online course work in Janurary. Anyway they did this “icebreak” of where you had like 20 things on a paper and found out if people like or did certain things. One of the questions was do you like sushi and seaweed. I was the only one out of 20 people who could answer this question with a yes! ha ha

December 16, 2009 at 6:10 amI love hearing about your writing!
How is it going? How many ‘pages’ is 1000 words? Any writer’s block ? Difficulties? Write, throw out and repeat haha!!
Interesting to hear about your Bikram too?
It’s very ‘militant’. Do you like Hot Yoga?

December 16, 2009 at 6:12 amI am happy you found a good sushi place. I’ve been in Philly 5 months and I still haven’t found one I’d want to visit again.

December 16, 2009 at 6:42 amI could just eat bowl after bowl of seaweed salad – it is seriously one of my favorite things to eat, ever. And wasabi is pretty high up there too, so sushi places just win in the good food department 😉

December 16, 2009 at 7:04 amI think you’ve inspired me to have a sushi night tonight!! It’s so weird that I used to have sushi at least once a week when I lived in Boston and now that I live in NY with way better sushi options every two feet, I hardly ever have it. I’m def going to change that tonight!!

December 16, 2009 at 8:47 amMmm the sushi looks awesome! I always eat two rolls all by myself and don’t start feeling full until like an hour later when all that rice swells up. Too bad I never learn my lesson.

December 16, 2009 at 9:37 amthere is a REALLY great sushi place in rohnert park called hana. I prefer it to osake… it’s in a weird strip mall and you’d never think to stop by but it is amazing and much better than anything I’ve found in SF.
