Hey guys 🙂
Bikram was amazing this morning. I tried out this random electrolyte enhancer that I found in the bottom of one of my bags…I guess I packed it from home for my long runs. Came in handy!
I think I got this from a running store in Tampa. I’m more of a gatorade fan in terms of sports drinks, but this was good and I felt good all during class while sipping on it.
When I got home, I dove into lunch. First up, a juicy grapefruit!

And then more quinoa edamame and corn salad with a quorn “turkey burger” on top with hummus:

I know I sort of bashed these burgers a few days ago but I think they are growing on me. I’m not 100% sold on them but I hate to waste food. The flavor is really good…it’s just the texture that is off. However, I do really enjoy the quorn chicken cutlets and would be really interested to try these gruyere stuffed cutlets y’all seem to rave about!

I have a conference call in an hour and am working on a recipe for coffee bbq sauce for the book. 🙂 Enjoy your Friday!

December 18, 2009 at 12:14 pmI bought a bunch of the quorn chicken cutlets a while back and they have just been sitting in my freezer. Good to know you like them- I might just open the box up!

December 18, 2009 at 12:27 pmWhere do you find the quorn turkey burgers locally? I’d love to try something different than the standard Morning Star products (amazing as they are!)

December 18, 2009 at 1:26 pmHeather,

December 18, 2009 at 12:34 pmI have a whole bunch of Boca burgers in my freezer. I think only one has been eaten. I much prefer the Mornigstar ones. Time to come up with some creative ways to use them, I guess.

December 18, 2009 at 12:37 pmI bet you could put coffee barbecue sauce on anything (even a quorn turkey burger) and it would still taste good!

December 18, 2009 at 12:40 pmYour grapefruit is so brilliantly red. Love it! And the big dollop of hummus on top of the quorn burger is making me hungry. My fav savory combo is: hummus + hot sauce + morningstar farms black bean burger. Yum!

December 18, 2009 at 1:11 pmOk, so this corn/edamame/quinoa recipe is calling my name every time you’ve eaten it the past three days…do you happen to have a recipe you can post?

December 18, 2009 at 1:36 pmOh, those Gruyere cutlets! They also make some great breaded cutlets with a creamy sauce and blueberry…. So tasty.

December 18, 2009 at 1:44 pmI thought only “clear” liquids were allowed in a Bikram class? I’ve always seen that sign on the door at the studio I go to, but I’ve also always wanted to bring gatorade/something similar because it would replenish me better. Do those count as “clear,” or are you just sneaky and snuck it in? 🙂
jenna
December 18, 2009 at 2:10 pmSarah,
I’ve never heard that rule….no idea! I see people all the time putting Emergen-C into their water in class so I don’t think it’s a big deal..

December 18, 2009 at 2:08 pmI’m sorry but the Quorn burgers just don’t *look* good and that definitely puts me off. The rest of lunch looks yummy, though. 🙂

December 18, 2009 at 2:43 pmI know this might be a little off topic, but in last Sunday’s paper (the 12-13 Red Plum insert, specifically), there was a coupon for $1.25 off ANY 1 Quorn product. I have seen these at my local Fred Meyer (a Kroger affiliate) and they occasionally go on sale. A sale + coupon = cheap way to try it! HTH someone.

December 18, 2009 at 2:56 pmI would really love to try Bikram but I don’t think I have any studios near me. I’ll have to do more research. I sweat so much during workouts though. I’d probably melt.

December 18, 2009 at 2:59 pmHey Jenna, I actually received those Quorn Turk’y Burgers as well! I just did a review of them on my blog the other day! If you heat them on the stove-top, they taste really good! Try that if you haven’t already!

December 18, 2009 at 4:02 pmI’m pretty picky about my alternative meat burgers, so thanks for the honesty regarding the quorn burger. Also, it’s becoming more and more clear to me that grapefruits are a miracle fruit of sorts. Yours looks so fresh, vibrant, and ripe!

December 18, 2009 at 4:06 pmThat grapefruit looks soooooo good. Am laughing my [insert body part] off as went back to read some of the comments from last night. Women just crack me up…am so glad to be female. [well, the kind that reads ELR, anyway, not the type that ‘date’ Tiger Woods.] I know, bad me. Hey, it’s freaky friday.
