Spinning Away

Hi friends!

Pleased to say I feel about 500 times better after spin class!!

I arrived 30 minutes early and did some abs:

3 sets of crunches on the stability ball—25 reps each set

3 sets of bicycle crunches—-20 reps each set

3 sets of inverse crunches with stability ball—15 reps each set

Oh my gosh, this class was a-m-a-z-i-n-g tonight! I think I pushed myself more than I ever have before and by the end of the hour, I was covered with sweat and feeling so much better about my day, myself and just…everything! I know I say this so often, but the gym really does turn everything around….If I can do it, after being on my feet racing at work for 8 1/2 hours, so can YOU! That’s my nightly pep-talk 🙂

I also made new friends, Juli and Christina, and we are going to go to more classes together next week….they were talking about wanting to try BodyPump (which I have never done) and I told them all the good things I hear about Zumba, which is offered as a new class at my gym twice a week.

After class I had one of those situations where I really just didn’t know what I wanted for dinner.…I kept picturing all my food here and NONE of it sounded good……….

So…I decided to swing by Publix and do a little pick-up-sushi-action instead! Great choice on my part because the girl behind the sushi counter made my roll (or wrap, actually) right to order in front of me. I got my favorite: shrimp summer rolls! They are chock full of raw veggies, avocado and, of course, shrimp. The spicy thai dipping sauce they come with is divine as well. 🙂

When I got home, I quickly steamed up a half cup of frozen edamame to round out the meal with some more bulk and protein!

SO delish.

For dessert, I had two perfect squares of my organic 70% dark chocolate bar:

While at Publix, I strolled down the bar section (obvi), still on the prowl for seasonal flavored cliff bars. Well, no pear strudel or gingerbread but I did find this:

There was only one and it totally didn’t belong…it was with the peanut butter ones! I snatched it and think I’ll bring it to my 11 hour shift tomorrow to keep me fueled. Has anyone tried this flavor?

Now that I have some food in me I realize that I am POOPED. Off to take a bubble bath and climb in bed. I work tomorrow at noon so I will post twice in the a.m.! Have a good one 🙂

Edited to add:

I’m still hungry! I think I’m going to snack on a brown rice krispie bar in my bed………hehe

Jenna! Is the spin class that you took called RPM? Because it sounds like your gym has Les Mills classes which are all amazing!! I’m certified to teach RPM and I absolutely love it… BodyPump is a great workout as well and since you like lifting, this class is perfect for you. What other group ex classes does your gym have?

I love Zumba! It’s suuuch a workout although I feel pretty silly doing it sometimes. I’m DYING to try the seasonal cliff bars, but I don’t usually eat Clif bars very often. How does the taste compare to say, a Luna Bar? I’ve been eating Luna Bars and Zone bars a lot, but never Clif. Are they similar to Odwalla?

You’re on my blogroll at Olive’s Eats. check it out!! http://lajeunechouette.wordpress.com

I’ve tried the maple nut before and I have to say that it’s good but not amazing. I still love chocolate chip, carrot cake and banana nut the best. I am heading to WF in Orlando this weekend and I will have to be on the lookout for gingerbread, OMG!

    Hey Jenna,
I’ve been reading your blog for a while and I think it is just great! I love spin classes too and I am glad you can fit them in your bust schedule! But the reason I had to comment on this post is the Maple Nut Clif. Maple Nut is by far my fave Clif. They are pretty hard to find where I am living in Canada. I am pretty jealous you snagged one. 🙂
Good luck with your busy next couple of days!

    Jen,

They are “officially called’ Jenny’s Brown Rice Marshmallow Treats and can be found at Whole Foods or, in my case, my local grocery store! They are like rice krispie treats except they are made with brown rice syrup and puffed brown rice. Each bar has 100 calories.

Hmmm, I didn’t see the pear but I just found a gingerbread one today!! They also had a pumpkin pie one that I didn’t get. I haven’t tried it yet because I wanted to try the oatmeal raisin walnut first which I’d never had but it was so yummy!! Delicious! Although, I have to say – I think it might almost be too sweet for me to want to eat it before a workout. I think I’ll stick to chocolate chip or the chocolate peanut crunch ones before running. Can’t remember if I’ve had banana nut bread or not but since it’s literally one of my favorite foods I’ll have to try it. I never used to like Clif bars much but now I’m kind of addicted.
