Stinky Cheese

Well, I fit everything in this afternoon and cleaned (vacuumed, swept, mopped) with enough time left over for a nice 60 minute yoga class. I chose one of my favorites : the 60 minute Core Yoga from YogaDownloads. This really really works every area of your core and I can definitely feel it in my abs the next day.

Before I did yoga though, I had a light snack of a reduced fat string cheese and a small bowl of cherries to fuel me for my practice.

And then for dinner I was so “blah” for some reason. First of all, I was super upset (maybe it’s pms, but I was really really upset about this!!!!) because I finally decided upon whole wheat pasta for dinner because I just bought a nice chunk of imported Parmesan cheese so I could use my new cheese grater. Well, I searched and searched and could not find the cheese anywhere in my fridge OR the trash can and I checked my receipt and knew that I bought it (it’s not cheap either)…and finally I went down to my car and checked my trunk and lo and behold, there it was. The cheese, along with my carton of egg whites to make more oatmeal pancakes this week, had fallen out of my grocery bag in the car and were sitting and rotting in the 100 degree heat. They smelled and I had to, obviously, throw both items away. That makes me so frustrated because it’s basically like I threw about $15 out the window. And I don’t get to grate cheese. So, that little episode fueled my blah mood.

But, I persevered anyways and made pasta without the freshly grated cheese on top. I just made basic pasta with sauce and added 1/4 cup dry lentils that I had cooked to it for more protein. I also had a salad with balsamic vinegar. All in all, a healthy and satisfying meal but pretty boring. Do you guys every go grocery shopping then come home, put it all away and wonder what you just bought? I shopped at Publix today to save money instead of Whole Foods and I ended up spending MORE because I feel like I just filled my cart with “fluff”.

Okay. No more complaining! I packed a pretty good dessert trail mix for school tonight—12 almonds, about a tbsp of dark chocolate chips and dried berries.

Aaww poor girl, I’d hug you if i weren’t 5 thousand miles away. 🙁 I once cried over a burrito that I left in the car overnight so don’t feel bad about being upset over the cheese (mine was pms too). I hate throwing away food, it just feels like SUCH A WASTE, plus when I get my heart set on something and it doesn’t happen I get pretty grouchy.

It happens to everyone, try to cheer up 🙂

I love string cheese! It’s just so much fun to eat 🙂

That’s too bad about the cheese and egg whites. I think anyone would feel upset about it.

But you still had an awesome looking meal and I’m sure it was delicious.

    Have a great night!

I feel ya on this post. Last week I bought some vegan muffins from Whole Foods, one day later they were stale! I actually went back with the receipt and they refunded me. Although WF may be a little pricey, sometimes they are the nicest. And I almost always buy more than I planned, especially when talking on the phone while shopping (not a good idea!).

Cheer up, Jenna. I know how horrid it feels to have plans changed when you had your heart on it and gourmet cheese is not cheap. Don’t let it get you down. Just acknowledge that it happened and try and release it. 🙂

aww, sorry about the cheese Jenna, my dinner was ruined tonight too so I know how you feel. It sucks having to throw away food and it also is so disappointing when something you were looking forward to doesn’t pan out. Your dinner still looks good though, and now you have the original pasta dish to look forward to in the future! Have a good night at school—hopefully you will make some yummy desserts that will make you feel better!

Hey I made your stir fry with quiona– and at first my friend Anne were like, what is that? (She isn’t as sophisticated as you… and I’m praying she doesn’t read your blog). Anyway it was a hit. Everyone loved it. Thanks for a great recipe.
