Sweet Friday

Good morning!

Well, last night I slept a whopping 12 hours!!!!!! I woke up at 8:00 when Ryan was leaving for work but then I fell back asleep until 10:00!!!! Who am I?! My body definitely needed it though. I’m still catching up from this entire week of craziness! I’m feeling a lot better than yesterday, obviously after that much sleep, and today my big plan is to tackle my stuffed inbox and write a ton of thank you notes! It might take all day, but I will get there!!

I made a big yogurt bowl for breakfast with a cup of Oikos and a mix of two new cereals I was dying to try–

Yum! I loved the new Nature’s Path cereals, ‘specially the vanilla almond granola. I’m a huge fan of their granola and this did not disappoint…..especially when topped with super sweet blueberries!

Speaking of cereal…………….anyone want some free MojaMix??! 😉

As you probably know by now since I’ve featured it on the blog a bunch, MojaMix is one of those “create your own” cereals. Its really great because YOU get to determine what goes in your mix...I love mine, it has has a base of “grains o plenty” and then filled with dried pears, peaches, walnuts and cacao nibs. I think my favorite way to eat it is on top of greek yogurt. What ISN’T awesome on top greek yogurt?!

So in the spirit of Friday, I will be giving away one batch of MojaMix to a lucky ELR reader. All you have to do is tell me what your dream combination would be and then tonight at 10 pm est, I will pick a totally random winner!

    love the possibility of adding different grains to the base! I think i’d do something like three brothers (quinoa, kamut, barley), persimmons, golden berries, hemp seeds, and maybe almonds? happy friday 🙂

    All of the ingredients look so healthy and delicious, that it would be hard to choose. I guess I would pick cherries, banana chips, dried cranberries, Grains a-plenty, and walnuts (gotta get in those Omega-3s) 😉

    Such great options. I had to hold back from adding chocolate because I would prefer to taste the fruits clearly.

    Chia seeds are a must! They are fabulous little buggers. Never had a goji berry, but willing to give it a try. Otherwise I want cacao nibs, dried blueberries + cherries, almond slivers, ‘Three Brothers’, and for a little extra umpth, hemp seeds.

    Oh my gosh, so hard to decide… definitely things I’ve never tried before but want to, such as chia seeds, cacoa nibs and goji berries, but I would also love coconut and almonds and walnuts and dried bluberries and cherries! Or flaxseed, dried bananas.. your dried pears sound interesting… gosh it would be so hard to decide! I hope you are not choosing a winner based on decisiveness 🙂

    OMG! How have I never heard of this amazing product until now??? I think I’ve pulled up 30 different combos so far. 🙂 Right now, what looks most delicious to me is Grains A Plenty, Apple, Apricots, Walnuts, Raw Cacao Nibs and Flax seeds. YUM!

    ps. The Nature’s Path oatmeal also does not disappoint!

    Um, this is a BRILLIANT idea. Way to go, MojaMix.

    Sitting in my freezing air-controlled cubicle with little natural sunlight, I decided to sail away to the Hawaii with this mix:

    Coconut Crisp base
    Pineapple, Papaya, Mango
    Macadamia Nuts

    (201 calories for a half a cup? Ouch. Hey, you said dream combination. ;))

    Hey Jenna! I love getting sleep like that. Well, i went to their cute website and my mix includes:
    wheat flakes, pineapples, strawberries, goji berries, coconut chips, and raw cacao nibs.
    good for breakfast or dessert and perfect for summer 🙂

    How to even being to choose is beyond me.
    I think because i would have granola as a snack with yogurt more then i would have it in the morning i would make mine a sweet mix.

    I’m a little bummed that they don’t have a gluten-free base, but I made do with the rolled oats. My post-run recovery mix:
    Rolled Oats
    Cherries (anti-inflammatory)
    Apricots (iron, good for digestion)
    Goldenberries (protein, vitamin A)
    Dates (there are benefits, but mostly I just love ’em)
    Almonds (calcium, vitamin E)
    Raw cacao nibs (keep the runner’s high going)
    Flax seeds (omega 3’s, still more fiber)
    Chia seeds (soluble fiber, may help with rehydration)
    Sesame seeds (calcium and a nice nutty crunch)

    I really really really want to try this stuff! Basically my favorite part about ceral is mixing different stuff together because I can never decide on just one – so this is perfect for me!

    My favs in a mixed cereal of my own would be
    Grains a plenty
    goji berries, fuyu persimmon, and papaya all for a international flair
    Raw Cacao Nibs, and Macdemia Nuts for the little bit of sweet /salty
    Your blog is so interesting and I enjoy reading about all your different experiences w/food:), glad you got to go to california, ane explore wine, I did something similar when I got to travel to Guatemala to pick coffee and learn about fair-trade it was awesome!!

    hmmmm that is quite a loaded question.
    Where do I begin?
    Coconut for crunch, banana chips, maybe some dates or figs, oats, pecans and almonds, a little cinnamon and honey, and maybe some puffed rice. mmmm
