Take Me To Europe!

Keep on crossing my fingers for the internet….so far so good. My router still is not working so I must be picking up some service from somewhere else in the complex but at least its something!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday so far. My pizza was sooo yummy and satisfying for lunch today! It was the perfect amount and I didn’t feel bloated or too full after eating. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this before but I’m very “into” routine. Everyday at work I eat my lunch at 11 (since I eat dinner at around 4:30-5), at 1:00 I have my tea and at 2:00 I have my snack. It makes the hours pass more quickly and it might be ocd, but it is what works for me. Just wanted to throw that out there! Today I lucked out and was given half of a small cookie from the pastry chef and also a bite or two of a potato pancake with a soy reduction sauce (SO good) as well. Ah, the perks of restaurant life. 🙂

For dinner tonight I had last night’s leftovers with salsa and 1/4th an avocado. Quick, easy and filling. I also had a small glass of wine. I’m thinking about going back to having a small glass every day. I honestly think the pros outweigh the cons and I so miss the Parisian mindset about food and life in general. It also relaxes me before school, as crazy as that sounds! So here’s to having a glass of red at 4:30 in the afternoon—cheers!

So random sidenote because this is my blog and I can blab all I want. For some reason all day I’ve been thinking about cheese and greek yogurt. I have no idea why. Like, my body is craving some real fancy shmancy parmesan for some reason! I don’t have any in the house and would need to eat a tiny amount first then see what my tummy does but I might do a small test run on Wednesday. I agree wholeheartedly that no dairy is the best for your body and you can get all the calcium from other sources, but if my body is screaming for some parm, I’m going to honor it. I’m going to ride this craving out and see if it is just hormones (probably) or if I really really want some! Just wanted to keep you all updated!

If it upsets your tummy, have you tried Lactaid when you have dairy? that stuff is a miracle drug.

I completely agree with the one glass of wine a day principle– I got in the habit after returning from a long stay with my best friend in Paris, and think it makes the meal more of an occasion, and less about just getting food in. I also wonder if the red wine might be what’s making you crave some cheese? I know good cheese makes me wish for wine with it, so maybe it works in reverse?!

My favorite thing about Paris is definitely the lifestyle and the total appreciation of food. We need some of that in the US!

And great for listening to your body. There’s nothing better than that.

I had a small glass of red when I got home from work today while contemplating dinner! It felt so luxurious and grown up 🙂

Has anyone tried this yet? I never go into Wal-mart, but this wine sounds interesting:

I agree with the daily glass of red wine (as well as practice it.) I think it helps me eat slower and enjoy my food so much more – like they do in Europe. 🙂 I just feel healthy having it.

    Cheers to you!

Parmesean cheese actually has very little lactose, so chances are you’ll be allright. I’m with BethT on the Lactaid, too–that stuff works wonders! 🙂

I know when my doctors thought I was lactose intolerant they thought that it would probably be okay for me to have parm because they is hardly any lactase in it and even if you cover your pasta in shavings you arent eating alot of cheese. Just thought youd think this was interesting.

Count me in on the glass of wine each day – I dated a guy from Barcelona, and in his family, it’s practically mandatory. Plus, according to Dr. Oz and many NYT articles, women should absolutely drink one (but only one) glass of red daily! Prevents heart disease and aging, the studies say 🙂

And I’m a big supporter of listening to your body’s cravings, especially the notable, infrequent ones. Parm is by far my favorite cheese, so if you’re going to splurge on dairy, go for that!!

Girl, I am the SAME way with routine!! Totally OCD with it, but proud nonetheless! I like to think of it as “discipline”–and too many people don’t have any! 😉

PS-I found this article that I thought you might like! Can’t WAIT for tomorrow!
