Takin’ it Easy

Today was just one of those rainy days. I had planned all day to go downtown and run again and so mid-afternoon I had my snack:

(kashi crackers with pb&J)

and waited for the rain to stop. I waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, at around 4:45 I just got in my car and headed downtown anyways because I figured if it was drizzling I could still run and I was getting quite fidgety waiting around! Luckily for me, the rain stopped when I got there and I ran a 3 mile loop around downtown and a cute neighborhood called Thornton Park that I found via MapMyRun.com. Well, almost. I actually accidentally bypassed a road I was supposed to run down to make it 3 miles so I’m not quite sure what it was. Oh well. I ran for the first 25 minutes and then did a cool down walk for the last five minutes or so. Here are my stats:

Time: 28 minutes

Distance: 3 miles??

Average Heart Rate: 178

Max Heart Rate: 197

Calories: 289

I can tell I’m getting better at the whole running thing because today it seemed easier than any other run. My heart rate was at at a more steady pace and I felt like I could have kept on running for another couple miles (without any walking!). But my shin was acting up, I didn’t want to push myself and, most importantly, I was getting hungry. I wish my stupid shin would just be normal. No bruising or swelling, but it’s definitely tender. I’m icing it right now actually. I wish it would just get better!!! 🙁

When I got home I threw together a quick dinner:

Yeah, yeah, yeah….I know it was super boring tonight but that leftover baked tofu (I made extra the other night) had to be eaten! It was sort of one of those nights where everything just just kind of “meh” to me and I didn’t feel like investing more energy in cooking. It started to pour again and I just wanted to take it easy. So….we had leftover baked tofu, a toasted Rudi’s whole wheat bagel, an apple and a spinach salad. It actually hit the spot despite being boring!

And then for dessert I had my faaavorite:

No kidding. Whenever I eat these I hear angels singing. They are soooooo amazing. I promise there isn’t the slightest hint of “soy” taste in them. They are richer than the jello pudding cups and better than any pudding I’ve ever had. I absolutely adore these little pots of heaven!

Seriously. Go buy them.

I feel the need to take it easy on this rainy Thursday night. I think I’m just going to nestle up with Dexter on the couch and read. Sounds good to me!

    Runjen,

Actually my regular grocery store carries this brand of pudding! They also make banana, vanilla and plain chocolate but the swirl reminds me of the jello pudding cups I adored when I was a kid! I absolutely promise you there is zero “beany” flavor (I know exactly what you are talking about!!!). I’m pretty much promising you that you will love this product!!!! 120 calories per cup, 1 gram of fat and 3 grams protein. Not a bad treat at all! 🙂

I pass up these puddings in the store every time because I figure they would taste gritty and oily, kind of like soy yogurt. But I’m going to take your word for it and buy some next time!

Oooh, they have banana? Banana and butterscotch are my two favorite puddings. I’ve never looked for these at Publix (I don’t normally seek out pudding), but I may have to try them!

(BTW- My new blogsite is up and running! Yay! The address is http://www.pumpkinandspice.net!)

I’ve seen those puddings at the store and almost bought them just because that panda is so darn cute.

Suggestion: Run in any and all weather, unless it’s physically dangerous of course (like lightning). It may be miserable, but you never know how the weather is going to be on race day and this will only make you more prepared.

Oh my god, that is hilarious. You hear angels singing. I actually used to LOVE those in my vegan days, and when I saw them at Whole Foods the other day, I figured that now that I’m doin’ dairy I have no need for them…but I’m pretty sure you reminded me how awesome they are. On the grocery list they go!
