Behind The Butter

the pause button

So…..I’m still on vacation and have been pretty bad about taking photos. Whoops. I’ve been too busy taking up the sport of paddleboarding (amazing core workout!), reapplying my sunscreen and reading my book by the water.

It’s been un-freakin-believable.

I hope y’all had a wonderful 4th of July! We’re actually headed home this morning…I’m kinda in denial. I wanted to share with you guys though the wonderful dinner I ate the other night here at Spindleshanks, a great restaurant that Adam and I have been to before. We both were waaaaay too exhausted to do anything but walk across the street (we stayed here and LOVED it!!) for dinner last night after a full day of white water rafting on the Truckee river in Nevada. The day was hot, the water was ice cold and we both had a blast.

All that paddling made me hungry! And thirsty. Very, very thirsty.

We both could barely wait to dig into the cajun BBQ beer prawns as soon as they were set down on the table. And you know what was even better than the prawns? Dipping huge chunks of bread in that sauce. Mmmmmmm

It’s what dreams are made of.

For dinner, I had the salmon special which was grilled salmon on top of sweet corn puree (yum) with a warm spinach salad, balsamic tomatoes and tempura green beans on top.

It reminded me of how much I love this fish. Note to self: make this soon. Like…tomorrow.

So lucky to share it all with my most handsome date…

Thanks everyone for being so patient while I’m on vacay. It’s been amazing to just hit the “pause” button and just soak everything up.

Happy (late) 4th of July! More recaps comin’ your way shortly…stay tuned.

girl, everyone deserves a pause button and i’m so glad y’all are having so much fun! i’ve been dying to try paddleboarding but the state of colorado sort of lacks bodies of water to do it in. maybe when we head to northern california later this year we can try it…and kayak our little hearts out!

    I’m jealous. There – I said it 😉

I didn’t realize you were such a water girl! Are you a big swimmer? I’ve loved to try rafting and paddleboarding one day…but would drown if I ever fell in the water (and I would fall in for sure).

If you like the Franciscan lodge you would also love the Red Wolf Lakeside Lodge! It is our favorite place to stay in Kings beach/ tahoe vista! We have stayed at the Franciscan once before and put it back on our list for next ski season! Also, I’m surprised there are so many nice restaurants in Tahoe, we always bring our own food and make dinner but now I have a few places I’m dying to try thanks to you! Hope you had an amazing 4th. Tahoe is heaven 🙂

I’ve noticed a huge difference in my core and butt 🙂 I love that you can do it just about anywhere….lakes, rivers, harbors so the sport is available to so many! Nothing beats paddling over coral reefs though! Glad you enjoyed it! Aloha!

I love that you’re in love with my favorite place on earth!! My hubbie and I got married there in 2006 at Sunnyside. We vacation there almost once a year. Took our son for the first time last summer and are going again the week before labor day this year! Yay for Lake Tahoe!

Aaaah, yes, Tahoe for the 4th…a serious tradition for me. Lucky enough to have a good friend with a cool old fashioned cabin, on the Lake right next door to Sunnyside. Parked car for the week and used it once, for trip into Tahoe City.
BUT, after watching all the peeps come and go next door, I decided to try SUP…it is HARD! Harder than it looks. Was in the water more than I care to admit. I think you must have lots of balance and strength to have matered it so quickly..good for you!
