Behind The Butter

today

I am thankful for….going home on Thursday!

That means gingerbread chai tea lattes, puggles in my bed, chocolate dipped bacon, an actual mall, pedicures with my mom, a dishwasher, my old pajamas from ninth grade, all my cookbooks, southern accents, walks with my mom, movies with my dad, coffee every morning, chocolate bread, our christmas tree, free wifi and raiding my mom’s shoe collection.

What are you thankful for today?

I’m thankful for the Dutch Bros travel coffee mug/ french press combo that my stepsons bio mom gave me for Christmas; for your flourless mini cake and brown sugar buttercream frosting recipes- they were amazing together (and the buttercream was amazing by the spoonful, and on graham crackers, and anything else I could schmear it on); and for the the fact that even tho Christmas is going to be meager this year, I get to spend it with my family surrounding me. Merry Christmas- I’m so happy that you get to go home. 🙂

I am thankful that despite being alone again on christmas, I am not in a hospital.

I am thankful that despite binging the last couple of nights, I still eat normally the next day.

I am thankful that despite suffering from a chronic illness and unable to exercise to make up for these binges, at least I can shower all by myself.

I am thankful to live where there is no war outside my front door.

I am thankful that I am not one of the many thousands of parents trying to support kids this season after losing their jobs and foreclosing their homes.

    I am thankful.

I’m thankful for getting my hung-over self to yoga this morning, for a great yoga class, for having the reflection during class that I need to be more mature and stop fighting with my mom so much..some things just don’t cut it anymore at age 22. I’m thankful for the tasty lunch I just had, for peanut butter, and for the scallops caesar salad i’m making for dinner, and for getting to see one of my oldest friends tonight for the first time in months.

I just got into Charleston from LA today and am thankful for: having Tito’s Tacos twice while I was there, the heavenly Thai massage I fit into my schedule, no accidents despite all the rain, great co-workers, challenges that make me love my job, having my first Korean BBQ (and calling it a success), and seeing my cousin who became a Dr. after so many years and going out for Peruvian with her (first time!). Thankful for being home now after no-delays with my flight and being with a wonderful God-blessed family and for the reason for the holiday, Christ. It’s good to be thankful.

Going home on Thursday too! From Toronto to Vancouver..Haven’t seen my family for 4 months and this solitary dorm life has left me hankering for real food…. so sick of eating sandwiches day in and day out. Hope you have a great trip home!!
