Glad y’all liked Confessions of a Food Blogger part II as well as the great book discussion goin on up in here.
This morning I made a great green smoothie!
Boy, she was as green as ever. A smoothie was about all I could stomach this morning….it is HOT outside and inside, despite my measly window box a/c. Even the thought of heavy oatmeal made me almost gag. This smoothie was perfect though. I used 1 frozen banana, 1 cup almond milk, 1 scoop chocolate Amazing Meal, 1 tbsp maca, 1 tbsp nuttzo and a whole lotta spinach!
Once that little diddy had digested, I hit the gym. I’m still doing Summer Shape Up workouts and today was chest and abs. I also ran 20 minutes of sprints on the treadmill, alternating between speed 6.0 and 7.5 on a 2.5% incline.
Lunch was more cool food!
I decided I needed more omega-3s in my life so I seared some salmon in my cast iron with a little sea salt and then threw it atop more spinach with some swiss cheese and Annie’s raspberry vinegarette. I’ve also been munching on these Mary’s crackers all day. Someone needs to take them away. Now.
To ease that afternoon slump, I tried out a new product that I received from my friends at Amazing Grass.
This is their brand new energy drink powder, which contains caffeine in the form of matcha and yerba mate. I mixed a scoop with water and it tasted sort of like lemon lime gatorade meets SuperFood….but in a good way?!
I’ll be the first to tell ya that drinking greens is not for the faint of heart. It took me awhile to get used to the taste, but once I did and starting drinking more, I felt so much better. I think I’m going to try to drink this in the mornings to see if it increases my energy throughout the day. I haven’t really been into coffee lately and just ran out of my favorite tea, so we’ll see what happens. I’ll keep you posted of any random energy spurts throughout the day. You never know.
Just ate a snack of some egg whites on toast with grape tomatoes (sounds gross and looked gross but was actually quite delicious) and I’m about to get some writing done.
Gooooodbye!

June 28, 2010 at 5:14 pmIMHO fresh squeezed wheat grass tastes disgusting–so strong. But then I saw dramatic results of drinking 2-4 oz of fresh wheat grass daily. A lawyer friend who had been super fit was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. All the treatments left her on the edge of death and looking like a death camp survivor. Scary. But in under 6 months, after drinking wheat grass, being on all veg/fruit juice diet w/non meat protin, and swimming/yoga/mediation she transformed into someone who looked like the most healthy person in ANY roomof 100+ people and 15 years younger–at least. It was amazing. I forced myself into Jamba Juice daily to drink the stuff–and truly a remarkable change in under two weeks. Glowing skin, super bright eyes, tons of energy, hair/nails etc all looked great. So going to restart the regieme as so beneficial–but definitely don’t look forward to the taste.
Fresh Wheat grass is supposed to be one of the most concentrated good things for you on the planet. The brochure at Jamba Juice says you’d need to consume an entire table top of fresh veggies to get the benefitsof 2-4 oz. After my experience, I believe it. So will redo it and see if it works its charm a second time. 🙂
