Hi!
I am DRAINED today and having serious mountain withdrawal! You know what its like right after a vacation when you get home and have no groceries whatsoever, a dirty house, loads of laundry to do and a book deadline in one month? Yeah, March might be a wee stressful…I can already feel it now. Luckily, it didn’t take us ten hours to get home last night….I think it was about 4 1/2? I fell asleep during the final hour of the drive and feel like I need about 12 hours of sleep to totally catch myself up from last weekend’s shenanigans.
This morning I ate the only thing in my house, my last two Kashi waffles with my last bit of almond butter and jam:

And then I rushed to the yoga studio to work the desk for awhile before hitting up Trader Joe’s for a MASSIVE grocery shop. I grabbed a salad on route…this had goat cheese, bell peppers and walnuts in it—

The donation amount for the Gran Fondo has been lowered from $20 to just $5! Every little bit helps!!

March 1, 2010 at 2:08 pmI really hate those few days after a vacation…it is a letdown and the grocery/food issues is a total bummer! Nothing a huge TJ’s grocery shop can’t fix though.

March 1, 2010 at 2:59 pmI feel like my to do list piles up while I’m on vacation. That first day home is a major shocker–not only am I not in ____ (insert really awesome place), but I have a million chores to do. Now. Ah, to have a maid who would prep my home for my return…

March 1, 2010 at 3:07 pmI hate coming home from a vacation when everything seems crazy and all you want to do is sleep! I totally understand. I could SO use a nap right now.

March 1, 2010 at 3:55 pmI just finished spring break and I know the feeling. Not looking forward to two midterms this week but hey, at least I’m done in 5 weeks!
Also wanted to mention that I absolutely ADORE your hair. You look amazing as a brunette!
Sarah
March 1, 2010 at 3:55 pmGlad you had a great weekend away! I love the feeling of “coming home” but definitely could do without the chaos that ensues the minute you walk in the house while you try to play catch up. Here’s to a relaxing week!
Lisa (bakebikeblog)
March 1, 2010 at 3:57 pmrest up and I am sure that you will feel better soon! I know what you mean about coming back from holidays to washing, chores etc….Sometimes its as though you need a holiday after the holiday 😉
Ann @ Appalachian Appetites
March 1, 2010 at 4:04 pmOh please share what you bought 😉 I love TJ goodies and always find something unique and yummy! I wish there were more in NC!

March 1, 2010 at 4:12 pmI hear ya on the vacation withdrawls. It’s unpleasant reporting back to the grind and reality after having a blast in a new place.
That TJ’s salad is GORGEOUS. I would’ve been as ravenous with it too.

March 1, 2010 at 4:31 pmTake a day or two to recover from your weekend! Do stuff around the house and write! Rest up…it is going to be quite a month! You don’t need to be getting yourself sick!

March 1, 2010 at 4:36 pmIt’s always a little hard to get back into the swing of things after a fun vacay!

March 1, 2010 at 4:51 pmI get stressed out on running silly little errands – in EVERYDAY LIFE…so yah, returning from vacay can’t be easy…but hey – I’ll switch with ya 😉

March 1, 2010 at 5:28 pmSalad looked delish! Get on that book girl! You know we are all rooting for you and can’t wait to read it (no matter what its about)! Hey, there is a giveaway idea 😉

March 1, 2010 at 5:29 pmSo…I just noticed the hair…had to go ALLLL the way back to find the original posts (boy, I was behind.) So why the interest in going brunette?
I totally get the washed out/ okay warm vs. cool thing. I did a warm “golden blonde” in college that was a mistake. And when I went to a salon to get my hair fixed at one point, it ended up red…not so good. Cool for me too.
And my spouse loves the brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts too. Me, I’m a strawberry girl.

March 1, 2010 at 5:33 pmComing back after vacation is sooo hard!!! Hate that 🙁
Picnics and Peonies
March 1, 2010 at 5:52 pmThat waffle sandwich looks so so good. And why oh why does TJ’s continue to taunt me?! I lived in LA for awhile and it was my favorite store ever, but am now in Vancouver and alas- Canada doesn’t have it! Boooo!
PS I enjoyed reading that you watched the men’s hockey game! Fun to see the other side of the spectrum (you guys wearing American flags, etc). You should’ve seen how crazy it was in Vancouver! I swear, everyone in the city was wearing red and white 🙂 Great game though!
diana(mymarblerye)
March 1, 2010 at 6:03 pmi always try to leave my house SPARKLING clean so when I come home from vacation it’s a bit nicer….it still sucks to come back to reality but you have us. 🙂 Good luck this month! Just breath!
Carrie
March 1, 2010 at 6:18 pmComing home from vacation can definitely be stressful. My advice is to just take it one day at a time and tackle your hardest tasks first. Everything else will fall into place.
Tara
March 1, 2010 at 6:19 pmI am going to make a salad with goat cheese tomorrow. That looks great. I have the vacation blues and I didn’t even go anywhere.
Jenna
March 1, 2010 at 7:00 pmSalad looks fab!!

March 2, 2010 at 7:11 amAwww, it stinks to come back to reality! I’m sure you’ll feel better tomorrow, just treat yourself well today.
I also kind of like watching the laundry spin (as long as the laundromat is relatively psycho-free!)
Diana @ frontyardfoodie
March 2, 2010 at 8:07 amI want your salad!! I’ve been craving a good salad and that one looks like it would seriously hit the spot just right.
