Behind The Butter

Virtual Coffee Date

If we were having coffee this fine Thursday morning, I would tell you that we found the PERFECT wedding venue last week in Austin. I’m not going to give too many details quite yet {I want to wait until we actually put a deposit down so I know it’s for sure} but….it’s wonderful. And it’s so “us”. I want to live in it. Or at least the cute little retro bride’s house. Heh.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that, on top of finding the perfect venue, we also picked a date! Adam and I will get married on May 25th, 2013. Memorial Day weekend. Originally we were thinking of a June wedding, but since we want to have the ceremony outside we were a little worried about the Texas heat. Our venue happened to have a May date open so we are snagging it! Can you tell I’m excited?!?! And highly caffeinated??

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I’m so excited to go home for Christmas. We are doing the whole multi-family Christmas again so we’ll be in both Georgia and Texas this year….Austin again for New Years Eve, which I am already super excited about.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I made another HUGE pot of spaghetti last night. The weather is just awful outside and this meaty sauce seemed like the perfect solution. If you haven’t tried this recipe yet, please do! My soul begs you.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I’ve started to assist a yoga class once a week, along with teaching twice a month, and I still really, really love it.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I’m going wedding dress shopping next month with my mom and maid of honor in Charleston. That still feels funny to say {type} out loud. I feel like just yesterday I was prom dress shopping?

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that Adam and I recently discovered Parenthood {I know…3 years late} and we are addicted. Like, totally addicted. We’ve watched two seasons in a month and just started season three last night. It’s SO GOOD. I can’t even believe how good it is.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that you need to come over and help me eat the leftover banana pudding from the other day. It’s still in my fridge. And it’s dangerous.

Congrats on setting a date and finding a perfect venue!

If we were having coffee this morning , I’d tell you we must have been great friends in another life – we have the same birthday, are the same age, and now have the same wedding date! I’m a long-time reader but first time commenter – slightly alarmed I sound like a stalker but the commonalities were just too many not to now!

Have a great time dress shopping – I went last week with my Mom and Grandmother and had a blast (and found the perfect dress!)

-Bought a pair of Frye boots (merry christmas to me!)
    – got that yummy smelling bath wash from Ulta
-got that cookie batter lip gloss
-started using neutrogena lite night cream

So happy that you found the perfect venue!

Also, if you love Parenthood (and I love it) you should watch Friday Night Lights if you haven’t already seen it. Same creator and maybe writer. FNL’s characters are unbelievable real, the writing is crazy good and the music makes the scene almost as much as the actors do. And if you need a reason to watch, it takes place in Texas. The whole series is amazing, but season 2 slumps a bit – they were trying to make the network happy. But after that it gets back to it’s roots.

    Well, if we were having coffee this morning, I would jump out of my chair and give you big hugs…because your wedding plans are coming together so great and it is definitely news that deserves a big hug and squeals of delight. Then, as we talked of wedding dress shopping and yes, how fast life flies and probably talk about prom dresses too, LOL. Then, before I sat back down, I would grab the banana pudding out of the fridge, get two spoons and we would finish that dangerous but delectable treat off as we talked about the wedding, discovering a TV series late and watching it as fast as we can, then being sad when we have finished all the available episodes. My silly guilty TV discovery, was Greys Anatomy. Not my normal kind of entertainment but I still finished over 130 episodes in 3 weeks…it almost turned me into a couch potato, LOL. Then after I was coffee’d out and the pudding bowl was empty, I would give you another hug and head home to start on a wedding quilt for you. THAT is how our coffee date would go. :o) …. Congratulations Jenna, and here is a big cyber hug {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you I made the recipe for All-Occasion Yellow Cake with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting from ‘White Jacket Required’ this past weekend. Since I made it as cupcakes, about half the frosting was leftover. It would be sinful to let something so good go to waste, so I’ve been using the chocolate frosting every morning as a bagel topping. I am not at all ashamed about that.

Jenna. I am OBSESSED with Parenthood right now too! A friend of mine introduced me to the show, and honestly, I can’t. stop. My husband is really into it too, but he does give me a little grief for how much I cry (how can you not?!) and how I try and relate everything in life now to Parenthood episodes. Not sure if it is still on sale, but I just bought Season 2 online at Target for a measly $20. Best money I’ve ever spent. What character do you think you are most like?

We got married this past Memorial Day weekend and it was wonderful – it’s fun to be one of the first weddings of the year! Good luck with the planning! (And send me the extra banana pudding!) You probably already know about this site, but if not check out http://www.bhldn.com for dresses and accessories. It is anthropologie’s wedding line.

Congratulations on the wedding date and venue! My due date for the birth of our first baby is May 26, 2013 (exactly one month before our 3rd wedding anniversary). I’ll be thinking about you on your wedding day as I’m in labor…nope, probably not! But I’ll look forward to the pictures! 🙂

Picking the location for one’s wedding and reception somehow makes it all seem real. Enjoy every second of the planning because regardless of the stress times, the wedding day will be perfect when you marry your best friend!

Wedding heat. I’ve got a story about that one, well heat and my stubbornness.

My anniversary is July 23. The date was set and all that before I had picked out my dress. And then…..I totally fell in love with a dress that was never ever meant to be worn in July, perhaps more like Nov-Feb only.

But, I insisted that this was the dress I was going to get married in. I didn’t care if it looked weird to others, I didn’t care if it was going to be damn hot. It was my day….I could be crazy if I wanted, right? And when the A/C in our reception hall broke down…..well we just won’t go there!

I am very happy for you – you deserve it. I met you briefly at Copperfields in Santa Rosa. I enjoyed your book and am so sorry to hear about the loss of your sweet brother – so much pain, I know and yet, your new journey has been incredible! Lucky you – you deserve it! Can you please, please, tell me where you took your mom to awhile ago – some cute bed and breakfast place… It used to be on your blog, but I cannot find it anywhere. I would LOVE to go there! I would be so thankful – I’m older and just am finishing up a teacher cred. program in S. Rosa and would love to take a restful weekend with my daughters! Love your blog/recipes and Happy Holidays!

Oh, Jenna! Just catching up on your blog. Congratulations! We had a late-May wedding too, and now Memorial Day weekend is always extra-special (and so nice to have a long weekend to celebrate your anniversary)! And we were late to Parenthood, too, but love it so much now. It always inspires us to discuss how we’ll parent as Kamal grows!

Ohhhh so many exciting things going on for you!

My parents got married on May 25, and celebrated 26 years of marriage this year. I pray that this will be a lucky date for you, and that you and Adam will be blessed in your life together.

My husband and I discovered Parenthood a couple months ago and quickly watched every season on Netflix. We are obsessed with it and I literally jumped with excitement when I saw you mention it. It is the best show ever, and I feel like no one I know watches it. Netflix has spoiled us and now that we are caught up with the current season it is so hard to have to wait a week between each episode. I don’t want it to end!
Good luck with wedding planning! I can’t wait to hear more and eventually see your dress!
